As bad as this is, in my opinion you should hold a bit back @Ed_David. I get the feeling we get back to medieval age when I read that we should "embarass him" and "destroy his reputation", especially

Unfortunately, Ebrahim, when you chose to steal from other people, you risked ruining your reputation. I think this thread should remain on the forum, but locked, onced the matter is resolved. Yo

What year was Kennedy shot?

What year did the Titanic sink?

When did Princess Diana die?

Who was Prime Minister of Australia 3yrs ago?

Who owns the Star Wars franchise?

What year did 911 happen?

plenty of you and me will not know the answers to many of these questions off the top of our heads and these are SIGNIFICANT moments in history. ES is a teeny weeny nothing. A teeny weeny scam artist and fraudster but still nothing.

Because my dad worked in the united nations II was in each country for each of these 'significant' events:

What year did Zimbabwe gain independence?

What year did South Africa gain independence?

What year was 9/11?

What year was Obama elected?

What year was 7/7?

What year did Mandela die?

What year was the Migrant Crisis?

What year was Brexit?

I have witnessed all of these first hand - in each city and country. Lucky? I think not.

It does not not make me better than you to be a first hand witness to crisis.

It only makes you better if you can look back and think about how you could have helped others.

And yes, I was in London when DOdi and DI passed, I actually worked at Harrods selling perfume for my first job so, I have met Al Fayed.

People here have been around, don't think you are special.

I hope i am wrong again, however anyone thinking they are getting their money back is tripping. This is way deeper than we think.

No 19yr old would bother with all this creation of accounts and characters etc. Why invent some grandfather who is the guru of cinema blah blah blah why not just claim yourself as the all knowing? Oh wow kid, your 'grandfather' knows camera, where does that get YOU in life? Nowhere. What is to gain from fabricating a person that is not yourself, they get all the kudos and youre just the kid.

As others have said, get your iphone or similar and post a video of yourself (and the grandfather for shits and giggles) and explain the whole thing that way. As it stands for now, its not hard to invent a FB or IG account with photos and 'friends' etc in fact that is the simplest thing in the world to do! My dog has an IG account.

Collecting money from WU under the name ES is a little trickier however, there is no reason that this isnt as popular as 'John Smith' in Egypt. Hell, if this is deeper than we think, the REAL ES may be a completely unknown victim of ID theft and not even remotely associated with this forum, cameras, or anything. ID theft is a huge problem around the world and seemily easy for plenty of people from developing nations to specialise in.

Ed obviously feels he did wrong but I dont think you did wrong at all. If you did this to me (or my dog) and I was innocent, my friends and family who ACTUALLY know me would know within seconds that this was not true. I wouldnt even bother defending the charges.

This has not been a criminal case, it has been an internet soap opera with a dash of vigilante justice. The rehabilitation of Ebrahim would have been more plausible if this had been handled by mods rather than blasted over the internet for the world to see. The fact that all of this has already been done makes a second chance much harder and much more unlikely. The internet never forgets.

All I am saying is we need to be careful, destroying an innocent persons carreer and reputation is far worse than someone loosing a few hundred bucks, at least in my opinion.

Indeed, one of the brightest posts over here as same as this last one from Lee Kelly. Scammer's fault to begin with, anyway. He also had the chance to not enroll himself in more nonsense and he was very sloppy against himself. Reason why I think this community should have been more alert to make the right choices. It hasn't helped him at all. Neither lack of mercy on his confession. Innocents? Where are they??

Hey Merce,

for violence has been called in this thread. I am sure, it wasn´t you though. But others have, explicitely or reacting in a humoureous manner towards such comments,

conclusions have been drawn about things going beyond the simple question about the identity of a scam. Degrading, concluding comments about persona and his contributions.

Why were a lot of people enjoying his past posts until one week ago and now all of the sudden put peer pressure up as an exuse for such appreciation.

I tell you what you posters have been to me in this thead: too long involved this thread´s dynamics and getting carried away by it.

I don´t think it should be up to assumptions about maturity but most of all and definately up to justice to solve this case.

In court you don´t hear the judge calling susptects names. I understand that this is no court. But then again, this thread should have no meaning

other than being a warning not to use WU and not to buy stuff from the scamming account.

By the way, Merce, little sad not to see anymore beautifully filmed greens with a 8bit codec camera anymore.- You know, I could assume you´d be

suspicious about my nice last sentence towards you in my latter sentence- This is the kind of paranoia and angst and rage coming out

of the last twenty pages of this thread. But no justice. Let´s leave it to the cool headed and fairly approaching institutions of justice.

"This is this and that is that" as Bobby DeNiro said, I´ve said this before, didn´t I?

cheers, Marty not Scorsese:)

I always miss the point when its this late and I am this knackered. Nothing personal. Apologies. You will see I shared your sympathies a few pages back. Anyways, I am out for this topic. It has been fun.

Panny I admire your maturity, I really do, but I never once called for violence to ES and I couldn't disagree more about closing this thread, especially now. If for no other reason but a paper trail of the events that transpired... And the events that will come to fruition.

Forgot to put your quote in I was relating my answer to. Gee, bad etiquettes of mine:)

I think it's pretty clear, ES does not want to loose his face, the only way is to refund the money pronto.

I could reach a solution with Tim and Tomas. But I really don't have the money to refund James Drum. What could I possibly do

Young fellow, you are in a difficult position. Open the whole game. Make a video, touch the hearts of these people! Show the most you can. Of course, avoid any lies and usual BS, at your best. As much as you're able to from down of your 20s. It is still in your hands! : )

I'd even dare to post that you are a sorta legend of this community now: take side :-)

Sarcasm, if any, not intended.

Oh my. Whatever could you possibly do?

In every job that must be done

There is an element of fun

And... snap!

The job's a game!

Watch and learn, and if you must sing along. You will feel better I promise.

Then upgrade to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Once you have memorised those lyrics and done the penguin dance you will not have a worry in the world ;)

I think Ebrahim, just borrow some money.  Sell some things. Start sending over what you have.

Use paypal - it works out of Egypt. Transfer as a gift.

I think get your friends involved.  Pool some money.  Sell some books or something.

And yes, sell your camera.  I have a Canon T2i if you want it.  I never use it.  It's not much but it does raw.

I hope all of us can forgive you in our heart for what you have done.

You staying here, starting a dialogue is a brave and important step.

That should be worth something.

What you did was horrible, but I was thinking about it on the drive today - I may have done something like that myself if I was broke and young.  I don't think I would have, but the thought probably would have crossed my mind, especially if I was broke.

Anyway, I'm proud of you staying on this to deal with this.

And I hope others will forgive, especially after you return their money.

James will wait. In fact they will all probably wait a month or so. Just make a plan, give 50 bucks to each as a promissory note. Give them your REAL name address, contact details that they can verify. Keep making steady payments. Ignore this thread now. Get on with your life. its over now.

I don't know if I would be able too if I was caught in a criminal scam.  But I'm not him.

Guys I've got another confession to make: In 1977 I went to the kid across the street's 7th birthday party. He had ever single Star Wars figurine out on display. I stole Chewbacca. My mum got a call from his mum that night and she said if I didn't hand it over she would find it. My mum used to scare the shit outta me when I was a kid so I surrendered Chewy. Going across the street and admitting my crime was tough, but its way better than having it on your conscience for 40 years.

LOL Superb, Anthony, in one of the funny moments of yours ; ) Who said motion picture is not entertainment?! ;-) Even a forum dedicated and powered by DSLR filmmakers is. No need for decades of film background in our stereo or mono signature! : D

Wow! The things you miss when you have a long day at work.

Well he finally confessed, the American way, with a gun to his head.

Think the quote goes - "In the beginning, there were big men & small men. Then Mr Smith & Mr Wesson came along to even the score."

What ever you do, DO NOT forgive this guy or let him continue posting here.

He's a lying scumbag thief & that's all. No great cinematic brain, just good at fooling people. Sad....

Just goes to show that anyone can read a camera spec sheet and sound smart. That is the curse of our generation. Which is why I will never invest in camera specs again.

Ebrahim, if you make a short film about this I will pay the vimeo streaming fee to watch it and I am sure all of us will.

Make it honest, make it real, give us a cliffhanger...

Make a film with all your emotion and anxiety, thats why we are here. To help each other be naked.

You will make your money easily, but you must make the film next week or we will have all moved on...
