Awesome, thanks Mr. Freeze.

Mr. Freeze reacted to kye in Filters?
Not quite, for many reasons which we've gone through already. This thread has more info than you ever wanted to know about emulating a Tiffen BPM filter in post.

Mr. Freeze got a reaction from Mark Romero 2 in Filters?
I do use filters for certain projects.
UV-Filters are on all of my lenses as a protection of the front element.
I use NDs to keep the aperture low. I don´t really like to film wide open, but one step down still needs NDs, especially outside if I want to keep 180° shutter angle.
I use the Tiffen Black Pro mist 1/4 and the Cinebloom 10% for diffusion. With some of my vintage lenses I don´t really need them, as they already give a softer look to the image, but it can be used as a effect.
I mostly use them with the Sigma 18-35 and 50-100, because they are sharper. I started to use them for photos aswell. You can form the light leaking across your subject in very organic ways.
I have a polarizer for my photography aswell, that I sometimes use outside for landscape or when water/rain is included.
Overall, with ND and Diffusion you can counter the "video look" to a certain degree. But only if framing and what you´re filming supports this. But they can definitely help.

Maybe a Panasonic G9 with a Panasonic 12-60mm f3.5-5.6 from the used market

BMD Micro Cinema Camera 8K and maybe new features for the 12k and the 4.6kPro G2?
I think the Pocket Range is still good with the 4K and the 6k, but the Micro is due for an Upgrade.

Mr. Freeze got a reaction from Hayk in Monitor options for BMPCC6K?
Portkeys BM5 with the Bluetooth-Module

I really enjoyed doing this. Cheers Dave... We should do another one some day, and bring a third guest on.

It´s crazy, it´s strange aber ich mag Musik mit deutschen Texten nicht wirklich.

Mr. Freeze reacted to Neumann Films in The URSA Mini Pro 12K
Is amazing. I love it. Never going back to RED unless I’m forced to by a client.
Just thought I would share. The IQ is pristine, colors are great and it’s just a breeze to use. Will post a few stills here in a day or two.

Mr. Freeze reacted to Andrew Reid in New forum Dark Theme
Forum news. You can now switch between dark and light theme.
I prefer the dark one, especially on a bright modern high contrast IPS or OLED screen.
Much easier on the eye and photos / videos really pop now on the darker backdrop.
Enjoy!
(The button to switch between dark and light Theme is at the bottom of the page)

Mr. Freeze reacted to Neumann Films in Youtube 4K quality is so poor you might as well shoot 1080p
Follow up:
I was extremely rude to what seems to be a really nice person in Matti...and I feel bad. I have nothing against him personally but I have some (obviously) strong thoughts about the type of content he uploads.
More often than not I side with Andrew on this stuff. If you have built an audience and a name for yourself the LEAST you could do is be authentic and try something unique. To just pander and make 10 B-Roll videos with fake surprise face thumbnails is almost non sensical.
It shows your sense of priorities. That you care more about fame/numbers/likes than you do anything artistic or creative. And that is a massive turn off.

Mr. Freeze got a reaction from Juank in Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
Guten Tag @Neumann Films
great to hear that your 12K URSA is on its way. I´m looking forward to the first samples.
What I´ve already seen from BMD and John Brawley looked awesome. I just like the BM Color-Science and BRAW aswell. Back then it was CDNG and ProRes with the BMCC and the original Pocket, ahead of Canon here. Now it is the great Codec in combination with an enormous amout of recording-modes and really high-res formats.

Mr. Freeze got a reaction from John Matthews in Every camera launch day on YouTube
Yeah, I´d say for me clickbait can be something that promises to be XY and the only delivering a small percentage of that or even nothing at all.
If something is marketed in a grand way and then delivering on it, I wouldn´t call it clickbait.
-
Mr. Freeze got a reaction from tweak in Every camera launch day on YouTube
I try to exclude those channels from my youtube-account the best I can.
The titles and clickbait is one thing, but the studid shocked-faces is something I can´t stand. Even if something would be of interest for me, I won´t watch it once some of those factors come into play.
Basically, as long as users/consumers continue to watch content without reflecting on it, its producer(s) and what its goal is, this stuff will continue to be made. Sure, some of the channels are pure marketing/advertisements and there is nothing wrong with it (as long as it is presented for what it really is), but pseudo-objective unboxings, sponsorings etc. is bothering me.
I do watch a lot on youtube, from different genres. From music to camera-equipment, movie-stuff and diy-videos. But a lot of them I will not watch because of certain rules I set for myself.

Mr. Freeze got a reaction from newfoundmass in Rokinon 85mm F1.4 for Samsung NX mount!
Those Rokinons/Samyangs/Walimex Lenses are great, especially for the money and when bought second hand.
Sure, they have their weaknesses, being softer wide open, manual focus only, not similar in size etc, but I like the images a lot.
I´d say the´re really usable at f2 but great at f2.8

Mr. Freeze reacted to Lux Shots in Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
I have been fully in Panasonic's camp since my journey began. Never in my life have a seen a Mike Drop from a corporation so damn brutal in all of my years.
But I have one more question. Where do they get these black people with all the gorgeous chocolaty skin from? My skin has never looked that damn good, and I've been black all of my life! LOL If this is BMD putting their best foot forward for inclusion, they certainly did it with class.

Mr. Freeze reacted to Andrew Reid in Andrew Reid AMA
@Neumann Films a Reddit style AMA is a great idea for the forum. I'll do my best to answer what you guys asked above. We should do this with you Neumann some time too, and some camera companies. I have some interviews coming up on the blog. Sigma's CEO Kazuto Yamaki and the Sigma Fp product manager got a book-length of questions from me and are very kindly working on some answers! Fujifilm also in Japan. I think the camera companies are always shrouded in mystery so the more they talk to their users, the better. We can send our suggestions their way!
@Neumann Films
What art form interests you the most outside of film? Also...what is your favorite CURRENT local restaurant (no chains)?
Music. I like how you can choose to be a solo artist or be in a group. Filmmakers don't quite have the same luxury if we want to make really good stuff 🙂 We need actors, writers, at the very least an interesting model or subject to shoot. Musicians just pick up an instrument, and write music.
Also writing, I think that's fascinating as well. Whether it be fiction or writing down ideas, I think filmmakers who can do this well have a real advantage over the pack.
Favourite restaurant in Berlin is the Japanese BBQ "Ushido" and back home in the UK there's a great one in Manchester with a cocktail bar, called "Room".
@Itu
did you attend any film school? Which one?
Not really but went to university and made artistic video pieces, music videos and some short films (in the Mini DV era)!
@Video Hummus
having run EOSHD solo for so many years where you have routinely written about your frustrations over and over again about the same persistence and repeated short comings of every brands cameras, would you consider yourself a masochist? If not, what kind of mental health problem would you say you have?
Addicted to buying new cameras. It is interesting to follow the flow of technology and innovation but with the camera industry being so dominated by the Japanese, I feel it could benefit from more multi-cultural ideas and designers. It's becoming a bit like the Japanese car industry where all the different models are homogeneous.
Well done to Sigma for trying something different with the Fp!
@Mr. Freeze
1. What moment/film was your motivation to pick up a Camera to create films?
Koyaanisqatsi.
Never seen reality in such poetic form, and the synthesis with the Philip Glass score, just amazing. But what's inspiring is it's basically one cinematographer and a camera, long, long takes. Each one hypnotic. No actors, no big crew, no writers, just the music and images.
Hitchcock, now there is an inspiration too.
2. Being able to travel back in time, let´s say 1920-2000, what decade/year would you like to visit and film in?
I think late 70's, early 80's. The auteur era in the US. And 60's France.
I've heard many of the younger pros say Jurassic Park is the "classic" that inspired them to be a filmmaker. It's great fun, but popcorn fluff... How times, and people are changing.
