It's another tokina. The 35 -105 rmc zoom.  No idea if it has any parentage with the tokina 28-70 atx pro or not. It's pretty much mint, the zoom is a touch tight at the close end. Took a couple of photos on sunset. There's a bit of a water theme as it rained today. If I push down on the lever over the L switch the whole fd mounting falls off from the lens

Resolve 17.1 now supports hw decoding of h265 4:2:2 10bit.
For intel you need an ice lake and tiger lake cpu. For Mac an M1.
not sure if this is applicable for you or not. How much adding a gpu would shake things up i have no idea.
does anyone know if adobe or after effects take advantage of icelake or later cpu's already ?
i can however guarantee whatever you buy, a newer, faster, cheaper product will be released two days later.

I did do a quick test. My process was to film a white wall as a 4k Raw clip, which I processed into a 4:2:2 10 bit uncompressed file. I then used ffmpeg to process the uncompressed video into two different clips with the only difference being the bit depth. I used 420 color and crf 16 on both. The two files both ended up roughly the same size. (8 bit is 3,515 KB, 10 bit is 3,127 KB).
I applied a fairly extreme amount of gain, and white balance adjustment equally to all clips. I've included a 100% crop of the uncompressed, 10 bit, and 8 bit files. As you can see, the 8 bit has significantly more ugly banding than the 10 bit.
As you can see, the 8 bit has some nasty banding that is not present in the 10 bit version. This is of course an extreme example to show a relatively small difference, but also it does get perceptually worse in motion rather than still frames. Also note that the PNG files themselves are 8 bit (which would match a typical delivery). The banding you see is from the color grading, as all 3 versions have been quantized down to 8 bit upon rendering.
Moreover, the 10 bit is actually a 10% smaller file. I find 10 bit HEVC is consistently a smaller file size than 8 bit for better quality. The real benefit of more accurate sampling is that it allows more accurate processing throughout, from compression to coloring.
On an related note, both the HEVC clips have lost all the grain and detail compared to uncompressed, which is very unfortunate. However, they are 1% of the file size so I can't complain too much!

Edit: just look at the file names to see which pic is which

I use this. It's M42, adapted to EF and then just use any digital camera to scan it.

as for snaps, here's a couple. Getting the stereo effect is easiest with some hardware, but you can do it with just your eyes if you practice a little. Plenty of how tos on YouTube.

As you can see. My camera has a light leak on the right frame. But it does ant take away from the stereo effect.

I have sworn of lenses till i can put some dollars together for a fvd16a for the elmoscope type 1. Got a confirmation email from rapido this morning that the fvd16a will fit. I'll just buy the front adapter / clamp thing as well, i have the rear mounting already sorted. Roblox Guides get-mobdrovip.com

The price has been almost cut in two and it is now $5995.
No idea whether this is because it wasn't selling, or to bring into line with the newer Sony and Canon offerings or whether they are going to release a 16K version but it is now a very, very interesting option.
You can say what you want about no one needing 12K blah blah blah but the (extreme) re-framing and stabilisation options offered by the 12K image are very practical and it ticked an awful lot of boxes anyway with its internal ND, ProRes and BRAW, professional I/O
Its not going to be for everyone of course as the "I want a full frame camera with IBIS, e-ND, sentient Autofocus and small enough to shove up a mouse's arse" fantasies are in no way going to be met here but for those who do have a need for a camera of this type, its now put the cat amongst the pigeons in that area with this price drop.
Theres is a very comprehensive run through of it here from the good people at CVP :

Yes, I think you could definitely get a Voigtlander for that money, but then you have a m4/3 lens that is fairly pricey with an unknown as to how long the mount will be used. Full frame lenses can always be adapted.
I don't really have an approach. I mostly just tinker. I really need to get a new computer or monitor. I've been using my MacBook Air which does not have a 178 degree viewing angle so depending upon how I look at the screen, the image could look different. It's very annoying. I figure once I have something... anything... completed I'll take that stuff more seriously.
For those shots I used a Log to Rec709 LUT, made a couple exposure adjustments to open up the waveform and then desaturated the image. So nothing fancy.

just the plain non L Version. As you have noted the L versions are fairly pricey. I think that for those sought of prices i could probably buy  a new fast Voigtländer in mft. Still its alot of money either way, for me anyway.
The 1.4 certainly does alright. nice image.
May i ask what your approach is to b&w conversion ?

good luck, As you know covids playing silly buggers with states of aus at the moment 🙄
i have in mind, to buy a canon fd 50mm f1.2. keeping things vintage again.  I'm after one fast lens, and i figure if i get an fd it will be a close enough match to my other fd's i have.  I have looked at some fast 50's  I thought of pentax as i have seven or so m42 takumars however alot of my searches  seem to come up with either fungus of haze and still want to dollar.  I think if i'm patient i might be able to come away with a canon $500 - 550 and postage on top. Then i'm going cold turkey on lenses, thats the plan anyway.

Are you looking at the non L version? Admittedly I've never used it but from all accounts it isn't that great of a lens. I'd go with the 1.4 for a 1/4 the price.
As you may remember, I also have the 1.2 L that I had modified to EF mount, iris de-clicked, etc... and I think that is one of the best lenses I've ever used. However, with the prices the way they are, I am having a hard time justifying its existence in my bag. I've been looking at some footage lately between the two lenses and although the 1.2 L is definitively a better lens, the 1.4 gets you most of the way there.

I have a few side by sides I'll post later when I'm on my computer.

    Take the 6K/6K Pro.
The Sigma FP can deliver great footage aswell and has a photo mode, but the Pocket 6K will give you more, if video is your main focus.
You can argue that the CDNG from the Sigma will be better for green screen work, but for most of your VFX work the 6K will deliver the shots you need and braw is a great codec.

Not seeing much action down in the lenses forum, I have however continued doing my bit for someone's else's economy,  the Japanese economy actually. Bought a cheap nikon lens. The nikon 43-68 zoom, supposable the worst lens in the history of nikon lenses,  if the internet is to believed. You may ask what possessed me to do that ?  and i'm glad you asked, one reason, it was cheap 🙄 the main reason, was the flares it produces. Which i'm kinda partial to.  there is a type 1 with the lens details on the inside of the filter ring. Thats supposedly the soft version, mine is type 2 with the lens detail on the outside of the filter ring.
today has been  the coldest day of the year so far,  frozen water pipes till about 9 am . I think  yesterday was pretty cold as well. i did take a few shots with the nikon attached to the olympus e-m10 this morning however i'm having trouble uploading them, maybe the cold has frozen the internet as well.  🤔  I'll try uploading them again later. I will say it's nice to be able to mount full frame lenses on a variety of cameras.
Really been meaning to do spend some time with p4k lately. However since i came back from my roadtrip ( 2600k's in 5 days ) i put the t5 in a safe place and haven't been able to find it since.

Follow up to my post about upscaling and de-interlacing with QTGMC and then playing with Midtone detail in negative values.

Picked this frame since it's pretty classic DV and bad lighting. First frame is the original DV (in 720p timeline), then the upscaled frame and #3 the upscaled frame with -50 mid/detail, slightly lowered gain and lift and lowest possible glow. Screencap of Resolve at the end.

Not really something magic, still not great, but definitely better.

About 12 years ago I did a lot of home movies of family using a Canon Camcorder with a DV tape. I bought a Firewire card, IEEE 1394, and fitted into my PC. With suitable cable from Camcorder to PC I transferred the recordings to the Hard Drive on my PC. This resulted in .avi file  720 x 576 , 25.00 fps , Data rate 28887kbps. Interlaced. In some cases I had 'wide screen PAL' ie 16 by 9 and in other cases I had 4 by 3 ( widescreen not selected when recording ). Back then I decided to transcode the .avi to mpg files suitable to burn onto DVD . The bit rate drops to around 6Mbps and I kept the frame rate at 25 fps interlaced. This gave good results for a family movie. A year or so ago, I decided that DVDs are not future proof and I need to make the footage be 16 by 9 with black bars either side if original was 4 by 3 and use progressive scan - ie de-interlace and use a resolution of 1920 x 1080. I felt the biggest problem was the de-interlacing of fast moving image - ie children running about. There is also another problem I find today and that there is difficulty to find an Editor which will accepting the original .avi files. Resolve 16 does not accept it.  Anyway I have managed one way or another to make the format to what I want, but I may have not choose the best way to do it. When I show the footage to my grandchildren they just see the content and couldn't care about the finer details of the quality.

I am not enjoying your rants, Andrew, because (a) it’s a losing game, (b) makes you come across as bitter and (c) doesn’t seem to be your ‘groove’ and doesn’t accentuate your differentiation and strength.

Whether you are right or wrong isn’t the point; you can’t change the rules of the game and it doesn’t make for entertaining content.
In my opinion, your strength is the intersection point between technology and creativity (I would love to see more of the latter to balance the tech side).
You aren’t competing with bloggers, YouTube’s or even cinematographers if you create your own category.
And that doesn’t mean you can’t voice a strong opinion as part of your concept. I just would rather see you fight FOR something instead of AGAINST.

What the hell is this video, @Andrew Reid? This is not at all how to make a Youtube video. Here's what's wrong:
You need to start it with something like: "Hi guys, this is your boy Andrew here with EOSHD" You should have pink and teal background. X-mas lights at a minimum. Shallow depth of field? Everything's in focus! Where's the mic? You should be eating that thing! Think 25-30% of frame. Where's the obligatory Squarespace or Skillshare ad? If you can't get that, you should be at least pimping some software like "Cleanmymac". If you're going to talk trash about Canon, you should at the very least put some links to it on Amazon in case someone accidentally clicks on it. NEVER tell others what you actually think about product(s), certainly not after using them. You're just supposed shamelessly promote them or trash them, regardless of any usage. Focus on the specs primarily. Your thumbnail needs to have some super-inflammatory phrase (in yellow) with your mouth wide open. Here's an idea: "HASSELBLAD GETS DESTROYED? Plus, I lose my SH*T!" Finally, you look far too normal. Can't you shave your head or get a tattoo on your face? I'm sure there are more things wrong with this video. You've got to love Youtube nowadays.
