  1. canon full frame with ml perhaps, just throwing it out there 😀 i was hoping the reflection would help , but nothing, nada, zip
  2. nice, i really like the rose, that a real standout to me. A couple of the tokina 28-70 atx pros have almost a cult like following in some groups. Shouldn't be a surprise that tokina have some other gems as well i guess. Be interesting to see some video from it

    bmp4k adventures

Well its been awhile, a couple of lenses have been added to the collection. The first being a russian lens an industar 61, 53 f2.8, nice exterior, great lenses but more play in it than the local kindergarten, which is rather disheartening. focusing turns really easily till it hits a rough patch in the middle. it was the only question i didn't ask the previous seller seeing it was pretty cheap it would probably cost more to send it back. So far it seems like it requires a different flange distance adapter to what i have already Things being a bit tight i haven't really worried about sorting it out just yet. The other lens is a vintage canon or fd mount, but its a bit of an odd one for the forum i think, and its still on its way from the usa. Postage was quite reasonable oddly enough coming from the usa, however the conversion rate left me high and dry. Looking on ebay it seems about $60-80 cheaper than some others i have seen, hopefully its a good deal. I have sworn of lenses till i can put some dollars together for a fvd16a for the elmoscope type 1. Got a confirmation email from rapido this morning that the fvd16a will fit. I'll just buy the front adapter / clamp thing as well, i have the rear mounting already sorted.
  4. I hear you, i really do. I have sworn off lenses, till i can save up for a single focus solution for the elmoscope.
  5. do people actually post wedding videos ? I have watched a few howto video weddings I could probably watch a friends wedding video but watching random peoples weddings seems abit peculiar, unless someone had linked to it and said, here watch this it has some awesome camera angles. Can't really afford new Products so i dont watch too many of them. If i was looking at buying something i'll watch a few vids to help make a decision after that i dont bother, except for resolve, have to google youtube when ever i fire up resolve to learn something new. I do however watch lots of lens reviews, mostly vintage stuff. I guess alot of it depends on your interests, personally i lean towards howto videos like cooking a good steak on a bbq or smoking meats and melting alloy cans although not at the same time, you know manly stuff 😉
  6. its not just about the camera. There are other reasons why one might participate.
  7. i'll go you halves we can do our own gh2 continental video challenge any other aussie / kiwi interested parties ?
  8. i'll refrain from commenting about your last statement, pretty sure most people will pick up on what your alluding too 😁 mr reid will have a store/ cart set soon up it seems, it would seem appropriate people could buy a $10 ticket through the store perhaps. considering it would be passed on i imagine the thread might go on for some period of time. Which may show some differences from areas of lockdown to less locked down. I do suggest the addition of a cheap gps be thrown into the box i'd like to see how many k's that thing clocks up. Could be the recipe for an interesting blog.
  9. this will be the start of the next video challenge, wait and see 😉
  10. thanks for the post heart0less. Without people experimenting where would we be ? I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that the nikon wins out against the cheaper lens, not sure what the nikon lens costs. However that lens doesn't seem too bad on the nex to my untrained eyes at least.
  11. quite by accident i found this phillip reeve website on sunstars a few days ago, it may answer a few of your questions towards the end it covers filters as well https://phillipreeve.net/blog/best-lenses-for-sunstars/
  12. nicer image in this second post, and you don't look like a deer caught in the headlights either, like those first photos
  13. anyone got anything against tamron? found a 35mm with 12 blades and its a tad faster than the takumar at 2.8 verses 3.5 with a nice enough price. there's two other takumars that i would be interested in either a f2 or the f2.3 but they tend to be a bit pricey. So their being put to the side for now.

    Lenses

been playing with the p4k and the tokina 28-70 and resolve. Heres a jpg of a sunstar through some grape leaves. i sorta learned its not parfocal last night trying to do some zooms in on the flames in a bonfire. At first i thought it was me. Then i reread jordans post, now i dont feel quite so bad lol.
  15. since no one else has bit... care to elaborate ?
  16. more like licensed, perhaps 😉 I do like the raspberry pi and a higher quality camera idea. I have an arduino board lying around here some where. So i'm not adverse to the idea of grabbing one. I'm unsure of its image formats, for my purposes i'd like if it saves stills as some kind of tiff, dng, raw something other than jpg. Guess i'll do some more research later on
  17. seen a post on face book saying one supplier has atem mini pros in stock, so looks like you can all rush out and buy one shortly. Probably just like the p4k it might take a while for stock to reach all stores as i went to the store and their all sold out lol, not that i was getting one, just curious https://voiceandvideosales.com/products/blackmagic-design-atem-mini-pro-hdmi-live-stream-switcher?_pos=1&_sid=ecf015b39&_ss=r&fbclid=IwAR2548y0pfurBqg0Zn913sIvtR3-bVAF_06WeZsssyJDfoCqoHE4fd4eByg
  18. before i found this forum my inclinations where left to right, large format, medium format, 35mm format , super 35, micro four thirds 😉
  19. Whats with all the destroying ? are you part dalek ? do you really think that a r5 is going to be so revolutionary that is going to add a tremendous amount of shoots a day to your schedule ? because if you do i want some of whatever it is your smoking...

    The D-Mount project

i think theres at least one thread on eoshd for the original pocket. you might have to search for it however. the original was / is quite popular theres this link it may help
  21. i'd like too see some footage from that dream lens you got, with a flare or two Mattias Burling does do a pretty slick sort of presentation, i always enjoy his stuff. Youtube seems abit slow at the moment, corona virus has pretty much put the kibosh on nearly everything. So new content would be welcome
  22. but if you have it, you may as well use it right 😉 as forest would say, life is like a box of chocolates 😎
  23. well i'd be happy if i could uninstall 2020 and reinstall it as my version has a virus 😉 , Actually i'll be happy to make it through 2020. For me 2025 is way to far off to worry or speculate about, however bm, if your listening make a full frame with a flippy screen and internal nd and throw in some other goodness and i'll start saving 😀
  24. Nothing against ribcage but the gopro ribcage mod has an eye watering 5.6x crop factor. I would ask people to do some homework before lashing out on one. I took this text from the ricage website While you can connect any M12, CS or C-Mount lens, 1/2.3″, 1/2” and 2/3” lenses are best. The value in inches simply tells you the size of the image sensor the lens was originally designed for. The GoPro uses a 1/2.3″ sensor. Ribcage has a crop factor of 5.6x for 35mm SLR lenses, so wide angle lenses are generally more useful. So if my math is right a camera lens designed for 35mm of say 20mm focal length would become a 114mm lens. I have said before i'm not much of a fan of the fisheye look, which is rather odd as i have two gopros 🙄 but jumping from fisheye to a tele length of 114mm is kinda the other end of the spectrum the way i look at things. Nothing against tele lenses either, perhaps you can make it work for your situation. For my purposes i think a 5.6x crop factor is rather large. As much as i would have liked the idea, a the 5.6x crop was just too much for me and well the price here in aus was kinda at the expensive end of things as well. another option if you didn't have a gopro already ribcage also do a mod for the sony rxo thats got a 1" sensor the crop, details for that are as follows While the RX0 does have a 1” 21MP image sensor an effective area of 15.3MP is used. Here are the crop factors you can expect when mounting these common lens types: 2/3” C-Mount – 0.78x (some longer 16mm+ 2/3” lenses will cover the sensor though they are technically too small) 16mm (Bolex) – 0.9x (most 16mm lenses will cover the sensor with no vignette) Super 16 – 1.03x 1” C-Mount – 1.13x 1.1” C-Mount – 1.25x Micro Four Thirds – 1.45x APS-C – 1.89x DX – 2.01x APS-H – 2.45x 35mm (Full Frame) – 3.07x no idea how the rxo image compares to a gopro but a rxo may be a better option for a ribcage mount with the lesser crop and larger sensor, food for thought.

    The D-Mount project

i looked at the ribcage backbone, i had an issue with the price and the fact that every lens when mounted pretty much becomes a telephoto. couldn't really find a normal type view (perhaps i missed something somewhere) so you have either a wide fish eye view or telephoto lens. when i looked at the ribcage it was about $1300. But thats most likely the aussie dollar swimming around at the bottom of the fishtank. Dont get me wrong i like the little gopro's, i have 2 and they have their good points. I'm quite happy to attach the go pros to a kite and send them above. i wouldn't thy that with the black magic p4k lol
