BE NICE! I did, I was a backer and got the DVD a little while back! I liked it, though I wish they'd leaned into horror more like he did with the original. But the commitment to creating something like that, I have no choice but to love it. Watch it with the Trader Tony commentary on if you haven't already, it's hilarious!
That's dope! Both Chris and Jimmy George seem like really cool dudes, though I don't think Jimmy worked on the sequel due to the pandemic. I've really enjoyed all their films!

It looks like a pretty decent camera, and the screen is awesome, but it doesn't seem to be a vast improvement over what Sony offers. Doesn't stop the usual suspects from gushing over it, though.
Watching the Gerald Undone video, and it's really a bummer to see how much of a Sony shill he has become. He will bring up negatives, but then downplays them or just outright dismisses them as not important. Meanwhile, he'll temper his compliments of other cameras. The titles of his reviews from the last year or so really sum it up, honestly.

All the WNUF talk making me smile as well.

I know Chris and will have to tell him the next time I see him, though he's been traveling all month screening the sequel.

I'm also enjoying some early Simpson's Treehouse of Horror and Are You Afraid of the Dark? to relive some childhood trauma lol.

I HIGHLY recommend the director's cut of Doctor Sleep since you're a Shining fan. It somehow is a great sequel to both the movie and the book.

Three movies I watch every Halloween are WNUF Halloween Special, Trick r Treat, and The Guest. All worth checking out for something new.

It is interesting that Joe says in the video, they wanted the absolute character of the Kodak sensor to be preserved in-camera, without any noise reduction or introduction of any circuit noise. Just the natural grain from the sensor.
    So it got me thinking...
With HVEC and modern sensors we have a squeaky clean look. It has a lot of noise reduction you can't turn off, and a lot of compression.
So if we wanted the colour, character, uncompressed Cinema DNG and film grain of the Digital Bolex...
We need to find a modern camera...
Because the D16 on eBay now is $6K!!
I think the closest I own is the Sigma Fp-L in crop mode.
It has the resolution for 2x crop so works with Super 16mm lenses.
But any crop from about 1.37x onward gives a very detailed texture to the uncompressed 4K raw.... as it is a 1:1 pixel readout.
If you download the frame grab below, and look at the full 4K JPG conversion of my DNG, it is apparent at 1:1 that nothing is being lost and nothing is being added.
Especially since this is at ISO 3200 behind a strong ND filter.
At lower ISOs it looks a bit too clean to be a Digital Bolex-a-like.
However at ISO 3200 it is perfectly on note.
What other cameras could we wrangle (with a few tricks) to look like a Kodak CCD?
    GH5S?
    S1R 5K?
    Canon RAW?
    Nikon Z9?
How about our smartphones in Motion Cam?

Me too. I have a bunch of family footage. It doesn't look too bad just on my iMac M1, but upon de-interlacing, it really came to life and it looked like how I remember it. I'd also agree by saying it look close to consumer-grade 1080p.

I've been using it for about a year now and some of the results are genuinely astonishing. I just got the update, too, and have been impressed.
On my M1 Pro MacBook Pro it does about 10fps, so it's not TOO bad, especially if you come from the days when it'd take hours to render stuff. I mostly use it to upscale old footage; decent 480i footage upscales quite nicely. I can't say that it looks like native 1080p but it's not that far.
Their photo software is also very impressive, maybe even more than Video AI.

Yes, same here, I wish the camera companies would be brave enough to do some intermediate resolutions/frame rates between HD and UHD.
A 2.5-2.8K option would be a really great choice for finishing to HD while having some room for cropping and having a bit of oversampling for that nice sharp-but-not-sharpened look.
It could also help fill gaps in the spec sheet for marketing, for instance the A7IV (and my S1) can't do 4K60 at less than an s35/APS-C crop, but if it could do 2.5-2.8K at ~1.3x, or even full-frame, that would be a lot more attractive, while still keeping some distance to the A7sIII, A1 etc.

I would love an internal 2.8K RAW codec around 300Mbit.
A good balance of image quality and practicality.
I have moved on from 1080p but 2.8K never got the attention it deserved. It's a big step up from 1080. As the original BMCC showed!
Closest at the moment is the 6K C-RAW from EOS R3 in 24p mode at 720Mbit.
Or ProRes LT on the X-H2 which I think stands up very well to some of the lighter RAW codecs and BRAW.
ProRes RAW file sizes are a bit silly so won't be rushing out to buy an external recorder any time soon!
Canon RAW lite seems to edit quite fluidly on my MacBook Pro 16" (m1 pro)
    It's a shame EOS R3 cannot downsample the RAW to 2.8K and 4K in-camera as I don't particularly need 6K.

I feel like for most projects the 150mb/sec on the S1 is about the biggest I'd comfortably go. I never feel like I don't have enough data to work with in that codec outside of raw, but it is big enough to really eat through some hard drives. I'm still editing off of small SSDs, doing all our long term storage on cheap 8 or 12tb HDDs. I really don't find myself needing more data compression wise on most cameras, but I do always use an external monitor with my color science LUT on it, so I'm getting pretty close to the final image in camera exposure and WB wise. I would love to shoot raw just from my experience with photography, but the file sizes make it not an option outside of Red r3d.

I'd have to say, I've been shooting with a lot of cameras over the years on a verity of projects including a lot of high end cinema cameras. I am really really impressed with the image out of the S1 and the a7Siii. I've been shooting with them both recently and they are really gold mojo wise. Couldn't ask for much more unless I'm going for the specific Red or Arri look. Which overall doesn't matter too much because few people even know what that means outside of a small niche of cinematographers.

Hearing how many people talk about how it has impacted them breaks my heart. I hope I'm alive to see the day when we finally beat this disease. It won't bring our loved ones back, but if it'll make sure no one has to feel how the way I did holding my Mom's hands as she slowly

The thing is, in any film that's meant to take place in a post apocalyptic environment, that environment is like another character ESPECIALLY when it's something as iconic as Las Vegas. You really kind of squander that though when it's all just a blur in the background of every shot.
I found it obnoxious, and felt that it hurt the film. It's also one of the few times I've seen normal people notice shallow depth of field (though they didn't use that terminology) and talk about it.

Ciao Andrew, this news really touched me a lot, believe me it really makes me angry to hear about cancer at a young age. I'm very sorry. I'm sure you won't like what I'm about to say, feel free to insult me or kick me out of this forum . What i am about to say doesn't fit your beliefs and many others here. Many people are dying during this time for cancer and heart diseases. Many of these die because of the Covid vaccine, all this obviously is hidden by the politics ,media and especially by  doctors. I understand that this is unacceptable and that not everyone has the means to discern this type of information. Did your sister get the vaccines? If I were you I would dig it more on this topic.
