    That's great Andrew.
By the way have you heard of the Canon EOS R? I've been trying it all weekend and it's just fantastic!

Sam's Club used to, and still may, sell these. I bought two of them for my GH5 and G85. They're very well built for the price.

Amazon also has some lower cost options under the Amazon Basics brand. I got one for my wireless lav.

This is speculation, but I think one of the reasons they've focused on the photography aspect is because the success of the camera long term hinges on photographers adopting the system. They've already established themselves with video shooters and know they have their attention, so it would make sense to focus on the photography side in the early stages.

If you're looking for a cheap alternative to the Peli 1510 case, then these are actually pretty decent for a quarter of the price.

These padded dividers are really useful for transforming any rucksack into a camera bag and for general storage and faster packing of real camera bags. I have a load of them and organise gear into logical sets (speedlites with triggers in one pack, mics and recorders in another one etc etc) so I can pack bags quickly for different jobs.

Man you had the fancy Toaster 3000?  Lucky guy.  I had the 1st gen.  Internal time base correctors I needed to buy in order to do live switching cost an arm and a leg.  Still, I cut my 3D animation teeth on Toaster's Lightwave, which was cool.  Actually, I still have the thing and the Amiga 2500 in the basement closet.

When I worked at the local production house I used Video Toaster 3000 but I could never afford to get it on my own for my gigs / work. I was a broke teenager! I liked though how easy the Videonics stuff was to transport, since I did quite a bit of live switching at professional wrestling events. Just needed my two TVs, my VCR, and the 2-3 cameras, along with the cables, and I was good to go!

There is real risk that the other types of camera are actually becoming porn though.
Or you could up the sensor size even further and go for this combo of LS300 and Angenieux 25-250 which will give you a 10x zoom camcorder/cinema camera hybrid (which we will brand as a Cinecorder  )with an aesthetic that I think you can get behind for around £3K used all in.
Add in the Ninja V and you've got 4K60p as well for another £600.

Would've preferred the traditional flippy screen but it's not enough of a big deal that it'd stop me from buying it.
I don't see a reason though, really, to upgrade from my GH5 in the near future.

Yeah, the GH5 is a beast.
Used it alongside the EVA1 and it’s no slouch! EVA1 has smoother highlights, nicer noise and motion cadence - not that most other people would notice.
Have you tried @Sage‘s Alexa conversion yet? It’s absolutely nuts!! It makes the GH5 into a different camera (better!).

We get too caught up on what we're shooting with these days. 28 Days Later is one of my favorite movies ever. Would it really have been any better if it was shot on a cinema camera instead of mini DV cameras? No.
Some of my favorite stuff was shot on Sony handycams straight out of camera. Would I use one to shoot something today? Sure, why not!? Do I like what ILC cameras allow me to do now? Yes but they aren't a necessity!

At the risk of sounding trite, a finished film shot on a camcorder is always going to be better than an unfinished one shot on a hybrid with a ton of vintage lenses so if thats what it takes to get you to the finish line then its an obvious choice.

I agree, the G9 is a few tweaks from the perfect hybrid. I don't care about much of the stuff people ask for. A little extra bitrate or a new log profile isn't as important to me as things like Canons way seamless stills to video switch, Panasonics ability to take stills with the mechanical shutter during recording or Fujis "dual menus" for video and stills. These are the type of things I really want. Marketing specs is just icing on the cake.
    Panasonic usually delivers both.
Thats why a FF from them gets me very, very excited.

Yup, I just tried to give the fast version

This just keeps looking better and better. Of all the cameras released this year this is definitely the one Im most curious about.
I didn't care much about the hype of the others, they all seem like great cameras but expected, just upgrades of already available stuff. This feels like something new. Im getting a bit of the same feeling like when the BMCC was announced. It feels fresh.
