BTM_Pix got a reaction from Cinegain in NX1 RAW VIDEO???
You say that like I haven't already tried it.
I can give you a mic input on the GX80/85 if you want though.

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Trek of Joy in Fuji X-H1. IBIS, Phase Detect 4K beast?
Probably more like this if they'd set the DR to 200 though...

I don't necessarily think its a bad way of working myself either. It has caught me out a couple of times on the X-T2 when I've left it in video mode, brought the camera up to my eye, pressed the shutter and not been greeted by the comforting sound of a shutter firing though that serves me right for arriving so late on jobs!
If my suspicion/crackpot theory about it being the reason behind the 720p recording limitation when controlling it from the app is correct though, then its far more of a drawback in that scenario.
A way of controlling it over wifi when its in video mode (even at the expense of it streaming a lower frame rate or resolution to the app if needs be) but the actual camera being able to record in all of its formats should definitely be on their to do list.
Though not before they've fixed the AF on it and done some of their kaizen loveliness and given us Eterna and/or internal FLOG on the X-T2

I’ve noticed a little difference with the BMPCC and BMMCC between Raw and ProRes. I would say 1-1.5 stops less in ProRes. Obviously the major difference is in film mode vs video mode and that could easily be 2-3 stops.
The advantage of Raw is in the color tonality. Living in the woods and shooting in rural areas, I notice it in tree bark the most. Raw will record the textural difference in a more 3D way.
This can easily be described as having more DR but I think it is the minuscule color tonality that Raw is capturing and not necessarily the traditional idea of Luma based DR from shades of whites to grays to blacks. This is also something more noticeable in clouds.
Years ago, there was a kid named Zach who used to post here and he was very happy with his t2i. As he should be, the t2i was a great camera back in the day. Well he decided to post an image in an attempt to decipher how many stops of DR he was getting using Tragic Lantern.
I think the consensus was 6-7 stops. 6-7 stops. This was from a camera that helped start the DSLR revolution... a legend in its own right. And now, only 5 or 6 years later, we’re arguing about what camera has 1 or 2 more stops of DR... hell the fact that any affordable camera can get over 10 stops is amazing.

I remember going to see them in packed smoke filled cinemas and the atmosphere was better than a hell of a lot of real title fights I've worked at.
Hard to recapture that sort of magic on Netflix in your own house irrespective of the convenience of it.

I don't mind Canon really but, playing devil's advocate, there must come a point where the controlled trickle down has to speed up a bit to stop even the loyalist of customers thinking its all gone a bit stale and seeking pastures new ?

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Mattias Burling in Fuji X-H1. IBIS, Phase Detect 4K beast?
Aha..cheers for the info.
I meant physical control to keep them distinct from a user perspective and separate the change from one mode to the other.
As I understood it though, the X-Pro2 is only a subset video wise of the X-T2 and doesn't quite require the same overhead?
Does it only allow 720p recording when using the app too ?

Doubt it since the Pro2 doesn't need to switch drive. the X100f does but not with a physical button.
But mostly because the camera most likely doesn't have any true mechanical switches. All cameras I know these days needs the battery pulled when they freeze for one reason or another. If the power switch actually was a powers switch that wouldn't be the case.

I just bought the X-H1 in Barcelona whilst I'm taking a break, and I am more impressed with it so far than I thought I would be.
I'd say it is a genuine alternative to the GH5 and A7 III, given the similar prices of all 3.
It does things the Panasonic and Sony don't do as well, or differently enough to make you have a strong personal preference for one or the other.
First of all, the small things... You can assign 1/48 shutter for 180 deg to "T" on the shutter mode dial. Instantly go from auto to 1/48 in the blink of an eye. Very useful.
The e-ink top-display is very useful and something the GH5 and Sonys lack!
One of the bigger things is the quality of the stabilisation.
It's insane. I actually think it might even be better than Oly/Pana. Steady handheld shots are almost completely locked-down as if on a tripod. Even walking glides are perfectly doable. Slider-style moves with your arm come out well.
This is one area where it is FAR superior to the Sony cameras, and it has a larger sensor than GH5 yet possibly even better 5 axis.... THAT is unique.
F-LOG and Eterna seem superb... I am not missing 10bit. Skintones, codec, all very good especially at 200Mbit which is insanely high for an IPB codec. Would be nice to have an ALL-I option but I have a feeling Fuji will do a BIG firmware update in future.
The EVF I think is superior to the Panasonic and Sony side.
I dare say the AF is better than the GH5 too, though not as good as A7 III / A7R III.
The tiny Fuji primes are wonderful, esp. 23mm F2 WR and the 35mm F1.4.
It is very responsive... recording start / stop doesn't have any lag or weirdness.
I still dislike that movie-mode is on the drive mode lever, it should be a single button press to toggle between movie and stills mode. Firmware?
Stills side is stronger than GH5. The mechanical shutter is the best I have ever had in anything. So quiet and dampened. Mega satisfying! Of course, larger sensor than GH5 and better JPEG colours (Fuji film simulations).
I wish the further X-T2 style crop in 4K was not a thing... but it's no biggie, and there's Speed Booster for X-Mount.
I wish the quality of the 1080/120fps was a little better... but it's a very nice creative tool. Plus you can access it instantly through a func. button.
On paper, A7 III and GH5 are better.
In reality.... it's game on.

We must work at very different events then as I'm in Europe too and shoot Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA European Championships, FIFA World Cup, Tour de France, Le Mans, Rugby Union (club and World Cup), Rugby League (club and World Cup), WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO World Championship boxing, Test Cricket, UCI Track Cycling World Championships, FIS World Skiing Championships and so on.
Its a lot more than 1% shooting on Nikon, in my experience.
Even when Canon are sponsoring our photo vests.

Great lateral thinking by the guy who came up with the workaround but I'm now wondering if the best fix for these issues is to set my own calendar into the future and buy the mark IV version of it.

The only time Ive actually counted the numbers of cameras around Swedens biggest sports arena it was less than 1% Nikon. Literally.
But Im sure you are right. It doesn't matter one bit, I still make my point, which was that you don't see a bunch of mirrorless
