    That would be amazing, thanks.

    I haven’t forgotten, I’m just a bit of a lazy bastard.

I’m now in sunnier climes but normal overcast drizzle will be resumed when I get back in about a month so I will do it then.

With the new PYXIS monitor upgrade for the Studio 4K G2 it might well be shot on that.

have a vague memory that someone here was hoping for this - maybe it was @BTM_Pix?

    It was indeed.

Was waiting for the firmware update before buying the monitor obviously but won’t be back in range of a dealership for the next month so it will have to wait.

Edit: Sorry, I guess this is in the wrong place after all!  I misread and thought "cinema" when it's "studio."  But maybe it's still interesting to someone?

No, it’s the Micro Studio G2 so it is to all intents and purposes a cinema camera too just that it was lacking some easy control and monitoring for standalone use which has now been addressed with this monitor.

Not completely because it is still missing the BLE control but it is now more or less a modular P4K.

Which everyone claimed to absolutely need but judging by how little interest this camera gets didn’t translate too well into reality.

Like Panasonic’s box versions of the GH5 and S5 didn’t either.

Which other lenses can be adapted to Z mount that can't be adapted to R?

Nikon F with full as native like electronic control is the big one for me.

FujiFilm X mount is also available now with full electronic control. Limited to APS-C by the nature of the lenses of course.

Dumb mount MFT is also available. Again, limited image coverage but OK up to APS-C as most of the MFT lenses you'd want to use offer that wider coverage.

In theory, there is enough space for someone to do a Hasselblad XCD adapter but no one has actually done it as far as i'm aware.

There are a couple of other interesting ones between the Z and the RF as well, most notably Canon's own EF-M and of course the RF mount itself !

    This isn’t about violating copyright

I don’t know how you can say that with a straight face.

The BFI have just published a report saying that 130,000 films and scripts have been used without permission or accreditation.

It is all about violating copyright.

Haven't turned it on in.. well.. some time.

    I think you should.

I think you’d be pleasantly surprised at the degree of enhancement the accumulated knowledge of these intervening years brings.

It’s a camera that has always appealed to me and I’ve been waiting patiently to pick a used one up for £200 for years now.

    Still waiting !

Which is likely a testament to how many people have held on to them and are still getting great results .

  6. The question you asked was

“Is it possible to record only Log without the LUT with the G9 MKII ? And how? I haven't found it.”

That was the question I was answering.

The question you should’ve been asking was if it was possible to record Log without the LUT whilst using a monitoring LUT.

For that you need to use the view assist.

  7. This is not so much about the quality of the image but more to do with the quality of the posts on here.

Historically, the action cameras have produced a LOT of spam on here either directly from new members setting up accounts to pimp them or some very suspicious stuff from existing members.

Having a single repository for them makes sense to me in the same way that there is one for lenses.

If people have an interest in new developments (as indeed I do myself) then there is a specific thread to subscribe to without numerous individual ones popping up that then have to be curated and assessed.

Of course you could argue that this could then be true for a lot of topics but the historical context of dubious spammy shite for those is different.

  8. Not sure what the situation is with Sigma and the Z mount.

They do three of their fast compact APS-C primes in Z mount but not the zooms or full frame.

They do more in RF mount but, again, no full frame.

You could speculate that pressure from both their L mount partners and their sensor supplier keeps them out of supplying the big two with full frame lenses.

In the case of Nikon it’s a bit moot as with the Megadap you can just buy the e-mount versions anyway and have them as near as dammit native anyway.

  9. The prices that people are bidding on there are absolutely wild.

If I squint a bit, then I can vaguely, almost, kind of see the reason why people pay outlandish premiums for a creative tool that has been owned by a renowned artist in the vague hope that there will be some transference of magical artistic residue to them if they use it.

However, I do question how someone is expecting to up their laundry game in the same manner by paying $500 for his fucking ironing board.

I mean, I’m aware of his artistic output but was he particularly renowned for being crease free too?

  10. I wish one of these gobshites would have the courage of their convictions and instead of the shocked faced gurning thumbnail pronouncing "This Changes EVERYTHING !" they just had one with them shrugging and saying "This Changes NOTHING !".

Camera companies are getting away with this tiny incremental facelift versions because they know these clowns have to keep stoking the click generator so won't ever offer up more meaningful commentary.

In that respect, the urban cowboy could have actually displayed some credibility if he'd made that type of commentary video about it instead of just swerving it completely.

I don't want this faux "GAME CHANGER!" nonsense as the reality is that there are seldom any releases that genuinely shock anymore.

We want genuine, shit your pants, wow releases.

Less "GAME CHANGER!" and more "UNDERWEAR CHANGER!".

  11. To virtue signal that he isn’t a gear pimping shill, he’s declining to review a camera that he doesn’t rate ?

Surely the best way of doing that would be to do a review and actually state that he doesn’t rate it IN THE FUCKING REVIEW.

You know, like someone who actually reviews gear rather than just blindly promotes it would do.

    Another twat in a hat.

At what point does the line get crossed for you guys, when will you stop buying?

The line was absolutely leapt over for me when we started to see £1500+ MFT bodies.

I haven’t bought anything new since 2019 and even then it was because I was developing products that necessitated it.

Obviously, I’m an addict, so I’ve bought other cameras since but they’ve all been used ones and if I was to buy a new one again then I would be fishing in shallower waters where there is some great value like the X-M5 and Z50ii.

I am definitely getting a used Z8 in the winter as it’s as peak camera as I would need and is also peak price as I’d be prepared to pay these days.

And at the point at which I buy it, then it will only have taken me two years and a half years to finally pull the trigger.

For someone with the impulse control of Jim from American Pie, I’m counting that as progress.

The "film mode" is VERY gimmicky, but could have some traction. Again, the target group will have the veridict.

    That’s honestly my favourite bit!

They need to have a proper hardcore mode where you can only “carry” four rolls of “film” with you and use the app like Pokémon Go where have to go and find a virtual chemist or photo store nearby to get another roll when you run out.

I’d make these virtual shops have opening hours as well !

Would be a big fan of the app making you have to load the “film” into the app in the dark and you then having to do all your “developing” in the app with the screen having a faint red glow across it.

You could even use the gyro sensors in the device to make you have to agitate the “film” to develop it.

I wouldn’t even be averse to you having to post off for a code when you’ve shot a roll of  “film” using a reversal simulation and then having to wait a week to get a code back that will unlock the roll and develop it with a non changeable preset process.
