Haven't searched too hard for bargain prices, but don't you still need a SDI recorder to capture raw? Once you get there, you're in the neighborhood (or do you spell it neighhbourhood?) of a E2-S6 with the E-ND mount. Just saying there are others in the same price bracket.
Not to go OT, but I did see a DPAF c100 for $600 USD, which seems insane.

Your stuff is incredibly well done, you've really found your niche. Size-wise the FS5 is pretty much perfect for a run and gun camcorder, its not much bigger than a DSLR with everything stripped off it.

Currently in the honeymoon phase with my FS5. I bought mine mid summer last year and it took a couple of months to get the images I wanted from it. Here's a mix of games I shot a few weeks ago.
10 bit 422 240fps in 1080p with no crop has been amazing.
Variable ND filter is a game changer as well.
FS7 dropping in price is tempting ngl, but the FS5 is so much smaller and easier to travel with.
FX9 inside of an FS5 body (which is definitly possible) is my dream camera.
Great DR, class leading cine cam autofocus, class leading cine cam lowlight performance with dual native iso, variable ND, great mic preamps, and a rugged body. 😵

Agreed. Just picked up a a7r "classic" with OEM battery grip, a couple extra batteries and Fotodiox tough mount for $500 with less than 2,000 clicks on the shutter. This fills the photo void left by selling the a7rIII and a7III. I still prefer the stills from 36mp sensor over the newer 42/47 versions, everything else not so much. its such a crappy design, amazing how people bash the EOS R and forget what a dumpster fire the a7mkI's are. This will be my main landscape camera until everyone shows their cards in the next few months. Just missed out on a Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera with a cage and metabones speedbooster on Ebay for $460. If you're not desperate and you waste a lot of time searching, there are amazing deals to be found.

I'm good on TP, cleaning stuff, and so on. The carnage in the stores is insane, I was shopping yesterday and one store had TP on the shelf, I thought for a second about getting some but decided to leave it for people that needed it more since I have 10 or so rolls that should last me a couple months. Then the next few that passed by hoarded all of it into their carts. People are doing the same with laundry detergent, sanitizer and so on. Sometimes people just disappoint you with their actions. Gonna spend the extra time doing a few things:
learning more editing techniques with photoshop including blending images, curves, masking and so on to better edit portraits and landscape shots I've been wanting to capture a holy grail time-lapse so I'm gonna tinker with a few attempts at that its Milky Way season and I've only shot it once before with a crappy result, there are a few remote places for decent MW images, gonna hit them before it gets to hot I switched to Resolve last year, but I'm going back to FCPx as its just faster for my workflow, gonna spend some time getting reacquainted just bought a NISI filter holder, the 10 and 6-stop Big Stoppers and some graduated ND's, gonna try to up my landscape game Basically lots of skill building for a better reel/portfolio.

I have to say this is an interesting discussion. I've actually been shopping for one of the knockoff Easyrig's after working with a few crews that used them extensively. The production houses I work with are all smaller shops or in-house teams for ad agencies, but they're pretty commonplace here in Florida. All of the recent VISIT FLORIDA ads were shot with Red's floating on Easyrigs, or Red's mounted on Ronin's floating on Easyrigs - because its hot as balls with lots of humidity and carrying around a 30-pound setup all day is an exercise in torture. I like the look you can get from one too, more natural handheld with smaller cameras instead of that floaty gimbal look (I also shoot a lot with a gimbal, not knocking it at all). Its another tool in the toolbox. I have not shot any series/film stuff, strictly commercials and promo videos for the web/social.
As to the new cinema camera, anyone think Canon is going to go IBIS or RF mount?

Looking forward to seeing the results of the time lapse and milky way project @Trek of Joy

If it can match the a9 and shoot 20fps with the electronic shutter, sensor readout speed should be pretty good. I bet its better than the 4k on Sony's various a6x00 models. With a CFExpress card 10-bit and even raw internal should be a breeze.
Found a great deal on a used EOS R and EF adapter and I'm slowly selling off my Sony gear to move to the R system. Despite the goofy touch bar and lackluster specs, its a great camera in use - and the AF improvements Canon has made put it on par with the newer Sony's. For now I'll use the XT3 for action since the R is kind of lethargic with its (non) high speed bursts. With adapters adapter I can be system polyamorous and use EF glass between Sony, Fuji and the R. I can wait out Covid-19, but the R5/R6 is giving me a serious case of G.A.S. For me this just keeps getting better, DPAF, IBIS, 4k120p, 40-something mp, its shaping up to be the hybrid I've been waiting for.
    Good times.

Depending on what happens in the next month, the price point in the UK will either be around £3.5K or two tins of soup, 20 sheets of toilet paper and two squirts of hand sanitiser.
Plus VAT in both cases obviously.

On the plus side, some short films I'm involved in are getting moved up to shoot in the next couple weeks because shooting locations are now easy to get.
Gonna spend most of the "break" finishing some editing projects and probably making a reel for myself.

Holy shit, that Fireball cam is genius!
Having worked with a lot of people that aren't photographers/videographers - stability is such a huge deal that's almost always overlooked. As Kye mentioned people just wave phones around like they're directing traffic at an airport, its nauseating. I think it would help to have a short video demonstrating concepts like using a tripod or a gimbal, framing and so on. I did a webinar for a bunch of partner organizations demonstrating how I shoot phone video because I got so many questions about how to get good looking footage. One people saw what I was doing the lightbulb went off. A simple tripod or a gimbal works wonders. A shot list would probably be helpful too. Shoot 4k and stabilize/reframe in post is another, especially if its vertical and you don't want that. But vertical is better suited for things like IG stories - I shoot both.
    Good luck.

Well my willpower didn't last, purchased my own Sony F3 with active EF adapter, rig, SD to SxS adapter,  v-mount power adapter, and 3 full size NP batteries for $800. The batteries and EF adapter are worth that by themselves.

Depends on the job, and I would advise anyone to think beyond getting a day rate.
The thing about day rates is they aren’t scalable.  They are based on time, and with only so many days you can work in the week, you can’t incline your income steadily. You could charge more, but then, you’re going to have to be a master specialist to achieve that.
If it’s not TV, film or music videos....I advise anyone to not position themselves as a “videographer” or “filmmaker”. Instead you frame yourself as a business solution. Instead of talking about what shots you want to do, you talk about how you will get them a business result.
This differentiates you from the over saturated  “videographer” role  - which in fact a lot of the  industry see as “low cost” and easy to negotiate your price down. You appear as a “problem solver” who can grow their business.
Also, getting the client to think more about the business result allows you more freedom with the creative stuff!

One thing I do have to hand it to Fuji is they've finally come around to going all-in on the pre-release hype train, this camera has been reviewed by so many outside of Fuji's usual ambassadors. The number of videos I've sorted through over the last few days is nuts.
While I'm not a fan of more buttons and switches, I do like the fact settings between stills and video are independent - that at least eliminates the constant fiddling of readjusting settings when flipping between the two. I'm trying to like this camera more, but then I see that it still jumps when changing ISO's like my XT2, and I use auto ISO when on a gimbal - its been great with the a73.

@Trek of Joy it's worth it. There's also something about it that reminds me of shooting still photos on celluloid. The high quality and fact that when you unpack each clip its just thousands of raw images. Grading with it is a dream coming from a stills background. Makes me only ever want a RAW cinema camera in the future.

Yep, the 5D2's are so cheap these days, I can get 3 at around $400-550 locally. I got mine for $500. But honestly, I believe the 5D3 is worth every penny if you are going to be a dedicated ML User, or want the most reliable RAW recording. Get yourself some Nikkor lenses and enjoy pushing those colours around...😎👍
I love my A7rii 4K to bits, but prefer the look and colours of my EOS M or 5D2 with ML Raw more.

That's beautiful, this thread has peaked my interest in tinkering with a 5d 2/3 and ML raw to shoot my beach sunset stuff. I just don't want to pull the trigger on a cinema camera yet (mostly because I'll need more than just cards to make one work) and I have access to EF lenses. Searching for a cheap 5d now...
