At CES a rep said it's an "all new sensor," which got me excited... but finally found a video where a rep says 12MP stills so it's not looking like a 1"
EDIT: Looks like there will be two sensor options!

I think maybe the second half of this year through to the first half of next are going to be spectacular for "waiters".
That rumoured Nikon mount if it is a 16mm flange might allow someone like Kipon or Metabones to even make a Sony E to Nikon Z adapter.       That would mean my 55 1.8 and 85 1.8 Sony lenses would not be orphaned if I ever left FF E mount.
Might be a very different mirrorless world pretty soon.       You know it is coming, question is how soon?

I  see how they are using these ISO's to prove that the GH5s is great in low light. But I hope this does not start a trend.
I agree with Jon, how light do you go at night? I always loved it more toward the darker side because of the suspense, scary side of it, making you look harder at it to spot things, on and on.
But  admit this camera is going to make it tempting to go higher.  But I won't like it unless it is more for Documentary stuff, etc., seeing things we have never been able to see before.

Every scene had movement in it, mostly up and down. I don't see how you can tout your GH5 as being ideal the way it is outputting.
I know we are all guilty of moment in videos, but that is why they invented 4000 dollar tripods. I have seen pretty much NO videos out of a GH5 that are rock solid handheld. So it is not your fault totally. But you have a pretty intense video rig and you are still getting movement.
Now I guess to the average person that will watch it they will not notice, but I see it. One problem is you are a old turd just like me LoL. Shake and Bake.

Not at Full 4k. And the GH5s can even do 10 bit  @60p in full 4k on HDMI out. And it has faster Slo Mo than the GH5. 240 versus 180. But there is a crop above 190 FPS.

Two problems I see that in reality can never be put back in the Bottle is 24 hour news shows, and a amazingly scary amount of up loads to You Tube every day.
The news shows are looking for the most dirt they can find, whether it is true or not. They don't dare fact check it or someone else will not and beat them to the story. Endless loop.
No way in hell You Tube can review the stuff as fast as it comes in, probably not even with computers let alone 1,000's of humans. So no clue how they stop it. Lots of people can care less if they get money from uploads, so no big deal if no advertiser wants to give them 5 cents.
And there are tons more problems like you mentioned. I see no way we Can go back. I think we are on the Highway to Hell to be honest. World was III around the corner maybe. It Ain't looking good long term I can tell you that much. I just see it getting much worse, let alone just treading water. I think the Internet may well prove to be the worse thing Ever invented in the long run. And we are not even talking about the "Dark Web", Christ.

Sorry you are right. I quoted instead of should have just made a new statement.
DPR had this is their quick compare thingy.
"As well as using the maximum amount of pixels and silicon for each aspect ratio (with consequent image quality benefits), this also means that the diagonal angle of view is preserved, whether you shoot 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 or in DCI 4K's roughly 17:9 aspect ratio.
It also means that the GH5S should offer a fractionally wider angle-of-view than the GH5 when shooting video, especially when capturing DCI footage.
The only downside is that the use of a larger region could limit the use of APS-C and Super35 lenses in conjunction with focal length reducing adaptors, such as SpeedBoosters. A 0.71x reducer needs to capture a roughly 30.5mm image circle to cover the GH5S's larger video region, while a 0.64x reducer needs a 33.8mm image circle, both of which are larger than is guaranteed to be projected by an APS-C lens. You'll almost certainly be OK with the 0.71x adaptor, since that's been shown to work with the majority of APS-C lenses but with the 0.64x versions it's likely you'll have to check on a case-by-case basis."

I wonder if some of the issues with Cadence have to do with the monitors being used and the settings.  I can see differences in the fluidity of movement.  I have several monitors and televisions.  How the image is being processed and what settings are being used is very important.  The same image on one display or monitor may seem a bit off compared to one of my televisions.

That DP Review chart is comparing photos, this is a video centric forum - when you compare the video of GH5s and the A7s from what I've seen up to iso 12800 maybe even 25000 the GH5s is a cleaner image and the colour doesn't fall apart in the same way the Sony does. From 25000 iso and above the Sony clearly takes over but how many people shoot at those crazy high isos? The Gh5s is better at iso levels where 99% of users will be using it

That is pretty much exactly what I expected.
I see some are not happy that it isn't the match of the better FF cameras in low light but I would say it looks amazing in low light FOR an M43 sensor.
The other stuff for video is why you should buy the camera, that it is competing with some better APSC sensors for low light is the bonus.      I can see some adding a GH5s to a GH5 for lower light (than the GH5) instead of a A7sii with a GH5.

what next?  gh5se with 16 stops of dr, but with only fullhd and no slow-motion
gh6- same as gh5s, but with IBIS and with 6k, omg

That would be an understatement! I Almost bought a one new when I got Tired of waiting for Red to ship their, at the time, Vaporware. Wow sometimes waiting is a good thing!
And this is why Red could not deliver Anything new!
"In February 2013, Red filed for an injunction against Sony, claiming that several of its new CineAlta products, particularly the 4K-capable F65, infringed on patents the company held. They requested that Sony not only be forced to stop selling the cameras, but that they be destroyed as well.[23] Sony filed a counter suit against Red in April 2013, alleging that Red's entire product line infringed on Sony patents. In July 2013, both parties filed jointly for dismissal, and as of July 20, 2013, the case is closed."
Of course did Jim Jannard tell anybody about this, Hell No! I guess he thought he was going to be a Billionaire.
After this being the second big delay from Red on promised products, I just gave up on them. I waited over 2 years on the Original Red. Nada, nothing. So I said the hell with it and took my money and bought a Porsche LoL. A used one mind you, I wasn't that rich.  Best decision of my life.  I have had a bunch of them. Daily fun.
Cine cameras are way too expensive anyways, not that Porsche's aren't either...
