Panasonic should release a S5S (lol) with Sony's 12MP sensor in A7SIII but without a mechanical shutter and a internal ND solution. Throw in some kind of internal RAW of some kind and it will be attractive vs A7SIII even without Sony level AF.
With a good telephoto it can take great pictures. But, I agree. Panasonic should make a future video centric camera more like a FX3 than the GH5S.

I'd like to say the same, but I filmed and live streamed one Wedding Ceremony last year totally for free.
    It was my own. 🤣🤣🤣
I setup 3 cameras, Pocket4K, GH5s at the front, on closeup and wide and a GH5 at the back.  Plus attached a small camera for live streaming to Facebook for my wife's family in Turkey to see, plus UK friends and family as we were limited to 12 guests.  This wasn't easy to set up as the registrar kept wanting to interview me for their bit of legal nonsense.  I was fiddling with streaming settings on my phone and she politely asked me to put my phone down.  Thankfully I got the streaming running just in the nick of time before my soon to be wife walked in.
Before the Ceremony finished, I had to replace the card in the Pocket 4K as I had set it to HQ in the rush.  I got looks from everyone including my now wife, but I just said cheekily, "hey, you're marrying a Wedding Videographer, what do you expect".  😁😁

Here is a very short movie I made, under heavy covid restrictions etc... It was meant purely for fun and shot in about an hour. I used an X-T3 with a 18-55 , f 2.8-3.6 , f-log, iso at 3200 mostly. Denoised in a very buggy Resolve 17 that could not export a 1080p file from a 4k master and which gave me lots of trouble with its idiotic ram handling of my  gpu .Very inefficient code. ( I know its beta , but Resolve is very inefficient in handling 6gb of Ram even in 16)
First outing for the mixpre 3-ii I was really impressed by  it , I have never recorded sound that sounded so lovely and clear. I blame @IronFilm for his bad influence on my sound aspirations 👍
Fuji's AF in the dark is mostly useless . It was mostly manual aF and parts of scenes were shot a bit out of focus for artistic effect (that is my excuse and I am sticking to it) 😁
Mostly shot handheld/on the shoulder with his supposedly engaged on the 18-55. In retrospect I may have saved myself a couple of stops of light and used my 35 1.4.

We had fun and that is the most important thing that we sometimes forget.

Not sure what kind of revelation is this. Also not sure why the A1 bring something new here, actually on some canon body you get RAW so you have almost zero quality loss in taking still from video, I only wish there would be an open gate mode.
The only thing that really change is the shutter speed but there sometime you get cool panned shoot if you are 1/50 vice versa for other scenes you could optimize more for the photo. New gen care less about the shutter speed as with games and gopro/phone video is all very high shutter speed stuff.
Advantage of taking still from video is that you have more choice, sometime you capture moments that you would not have anticipated and pressed the shutter button and of course you have the whole video. Disadvantage is the workflow and shutter speed.
I use a lot of remote camera, I trigger them with pocketwizard with an additional button mounted on the lens barrel so for hockey net remotes is great you don't want to record 60 min and scroll through to find the righ moment. But for sport that are more predictable like horse showjumping now I start the record maybe 20 sec before it reaches the obstacle and stop 20 sec after so I don't need to worry. In some key phases I have just turn on recoding before it starts.

Sill from video at higher shutter speed:
    Mini 2

    Canon R5

    Insta360 1 inch

    Insta360 dual lens

    At 1/50

That isn't sufficient by itself, you need an Ultrasync BLUE as well within range of the F2-BT for them to sync to as well.
At least they acknowledged there is an issue, and promised to replace all that are faulty. That's a pretty good response in my books.

So firstly, this is shot with an S1 instead of an S5, but since the sensor and codecs are the same (I have the V-LOG upgrade on my S1), I think it gives a pretty good representation of what sort of dynamic range you can expect from an S5. Please note that the sun streaming in the windows was REALLY strong as was the sunlight bouncing off the bay.
Anyway, I have questionable grading skills and poor gimbal technique, but Panasonic V-Log with the new DaVinci Wide Gamut makes it pretty easy to get a lot of DR out of the footage. (Internal 4K 30p 10-ibt 4:2:2 slowed to 23.976fps on the timeline, and exported as 1080p)
PS: If anyone knows why I have so much rolling shutter on my drone footage, please let me know... I think the shutter speed might be too high since I misplaced the ND filter for my drone camera (Phantom 3 advanced shooting in 2.7K at 30fps slowed to 23.976fps on the timeline).

When you compare the price of a Tentacle Track E to a Zoom F2-BT (which is a closer competitor than the non-bluetooth version) + cost of an Ultrasync BLUE (which is necessary for the F2-BT to work properly, unless you've already got a compatible bluetooth timecode machine such as for instance the F8n) then the Tentacle Track E is in reality very well priced indeed.

This is my experience with the Zoom F2. Please understand that I tried so hard to love it.
This video was meant to be a full review of the F2 but frustratingly I gave up and published my babble up to the point where I conceded. I call it the unfinished review.
I don't think Zoom will be sending me products for free any time soon. But, if they solve the issues then I'm happy to revisit the review.

Modeling work is big in my area in Florida, nearly an endless supply; I shoot fashion shows, runway shows, model promos, designer promos, branding shoots, etc. nearly year around in between real estate, corporate work, and other types of events and in addition to all of the video work I also offer a wide variety of photography which is why I love the S5. When I set up my kit I need to be able to shoot just about anything and for now my S5 and Canon 5DIV together can get just about any job done. Who knows, one day it might just be two S5's, but for now I still rely heavily on my 5DIV for photography.
I would love to move to more artistic type shooting such as creative shorts like some of the really cool projects that have been posted here, but unfortunately they don't pay the bills in my area.

Thanks, I guess I wasn't waiting long enough, I tend to hit Enter the second I post a link.

Here are two recent videos shot with the S5. The images in the videos are taken with a Canon 5DIV. All natural light only for the video portions.  The audio is using the XLR module via the lav mic. I have found that the XLR adapter seems to be a bit more problematic with the S5 than it was with the GH5 especially getting it to work with the Sennheiser wireless kit. I once had to restart the camera to get the audio to start working after turning on the Sennheisers and I had to disable ALC in the camera because it kept shutting off the XLR input even though the audio was not peaking.
As far as film look vs looking too digital, I don't really focus on things like that, I feel like on a cell phone which is where most of my videos get watched, the audience just couldn't care less so I can't let myself try to achieve things that my audience won't pay more for. I do miss my GH5 MFT Voigtlanders though, they had this look that was way more pleasing to me than I've been able to get out of the Canon and Sigma lenses. I just picked up some ProMist filters that I'm going to try out on my next daytime shoot; if Voigtlander made L mount or EF mount lenses I definitely would consider getting a set. Which does bring me to my last point which is I don't think it is the sensors which make the image look too "digital", I think the lenses have a lot to do with it as well and no matter how much post processing you do, if you start with a difficult sensor/lens combination it's never going to look as good as if you had a lens that got you 90% of the way there in camera.

Great clip but I will agree as well. Sorry! It has nothing to do with your handling at all.. Even at golden hour in the great outdoors, something is not quite right. I suppose it is the same for most cameras of course.

I can definitely imagine that these cameras are great for company work. @omega1978 wedding videos are as good as it gets in a non-controlled environment for company work . Very nice work
@PannySVHS I agree that you can take the super high resolving look in post but there is some emotive character missing vlog or not. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure to perhaps shoot an s5/s1 along with my x-t3 in the same exact setting in order to be able to describe it further. I am envious of Panasonic's approach of making their cameras more videocentric friendly in their use (most fujistas are ignorant of what their cameras can do video-wise )
Do the professional panasonic cameras have better colour science or is this as good as it gets and the rest is production value and ease of use? I almost bought a gh a couple of years ago but I still did not like the look back then. I am not bashing Panasonic at all , these are fantastic cameras I would be very happy to own.  I am just interested in what their everyday experienced users critically think away from "the mine is better than yours" mentality.

I suppose the feeling we are after is too fleeting and complicated to be explained in a couple of paragraphs

I think, image quality is overwhelmingly good, to a point I sometimes feel like I cheat. You can always take away the super high resolving look in post. A few clicks, done. I still have issue with oversaturated blue caused by lensflares, f.i. from my FD 50mm 1.4. I would do more testing before shooting something sufficient with a lot of backlight in combination with that or other lenses. Colourscience is awesome. I can create any look I want from it. With Vlog, it is a cinema camera through and through for the price of 1500USD.
@omega1978 The part with the couples kissing is conceptually the strongest. Rhythm is good, even for viewers like me to keep on track, even without interest in an immediate wedding.:) Good and solid work. Music is not my friend in this video.:) Future couples will like your video. Well done and thank you for showing! Grading is a bit on the saturated side, well, it looks like a wedding video:) Couples looking good, which is most important for a wedding video. They will book you, I am very sure. cheers
