Same principle applies to all gimbals. People look at weight on a spec sheet as if that is the all-deciding factor.
I just wish that gimbal companies would be more honest in their sales pitches. Yes, there are a million and one combinations of lenses and bodies but there are only a few dozen very common combinations of cameras and lenses that they should list as compatible or non compatible. The DS1 will not accept all manner of A7s2 combos without massive compromises - like the 16-35 f4 smashing against the back of the unit. When these were being shown off on YouTube by the makers, people were asking about that combination (myself included) and the answer would be:
"Yes, it should work" and then they would quote the weight limitations as if that was all the evidence needed.
What they should have said is:
"Don't buy the unit until we have tested that extremely common combination of camera body and wide angle lens. Yes, it is within the weight limit but we cannot guarantee the ease of balance due to the front heavy distribution of weight. We have tested your camera with 'these lenses' and can confirm that it works perfectly"
When people began reporting issues with that combination they backtracked to the position that I stated above. Why can't people say "We haven't got a clue, mate" instead of "It should do"?

Most couples in the UK would be happy with four hours CCTV footage and a few snaps from a mobile phone. A bonus reel containing shots of uncle Alf rolling around drunk in the hotel fountain completes everybody's joy.

I'd be willing to bet that fans of The Damned wouldn't notice a difference in the GH5 and an Alexa. Except maybe that <1% of cinephiles.

This is just a little something I shot on the subway, absolutely nothing special. But it made me think.
I used to shoot a lot of casual video on the streets. But ever since I became passionate about stills, more specifically street photography I never do it. Mostly because when recording video I feel like Im just missing out on great stills. An this was no exception. In fact its 1.5 years since I shot casual video out and about if we don't count "test shots" around the house.
The irony is that I started shooting street photography to become a better videographer. I used to love shooting video. The best part for me was composition and grading. So I started taking Raw stills in order to get to practice bigger quantities of grading. The plan was to eventually make a video about it and recommend all aspiring videographers to shoot a lot of stills. Just like the DP's in the Zacuto shoot out says (forgot which).
But along the way it completely switched on me. I started liking stills more. Specially the challenge. To capture a whole scene, the entire atmosphere, all the feelings in one single frame. Compressing an entire story into one single moment.
Im not in anyway implying that Im good at it. But I love trying.

Now when I watch vlogging street shooters on youtube, you know the type, Gopro in the hot shoe and a montage to hip-hop beats, I just get annoyed. In the video montages they miss out on so many great images.
Same thing for me today. In this short video montage of nothingness I see at least 4 potentially great images.
So, thats it. I still recommend all here that are aspiring DP's to shoot more stills. With something like a GRii you can always have it ready. Look for light, composition and story.
Just be aware that you might switch to the dark side like I have.
    Don’t underestimate its power.
What about you guys? Who shoots stills, why, why not?
(btw, really soft lens in action here. It looked awesome with gorilla grain on my computer but I removed it since youtube always messes it up imo. And therefor its pretty darn soft. A couple of focus misses doesn't help either.)

Yeah a lot of people have been talking out their ass along with me. It has been a interesting thread to put it mildly! But this a a Damn serious camera for the money. I am sure there a few things we don't even know all about it yet it has. It sure has changed my mind about m4/3 I can tell you that. This is cheap money for what it can do it looks like. And I am a big tripod shooter anyways, so the lack of IBIS is no big deal to me. And Gimbals are getting cheaper than hell as DJI has proved!

Just last month I went to visit Panasonic UK for a hands-on with the new Panasonic GH5S. My full review is in the pipeline but first an introduction to the new camera on the block...
The GH5S has a newly developed 10.2MP sensor for enhanced low light performance, as well as 240fps 1080p S&Q. Furthermore for the first time since the GH2 this sensor is an over-sized 1.86x crop multi-aspect sensor.
Possible for the first time is 60p at Cinema 4K resolution (4096 x 2160), whereas the GH5 is just Ultra HD 60p. The field-of-view will be slightly wider in Cinema 4K on the GH5S compared to the GH5 due to the larger sensor. The new CMOS also brings colour improvements with a new 14bit readout and less noise.

Davey reacted to mercer in Does anyone shoot in B&W?
As anybody who reads my comments already know, I bought a 5D3 last Spring and instantly fell in love with the images I was getting. After almost two years of searching for the right camera for the stuff I was looking to shoot, I found it in the 5D3.
    But...
I am the first person to admit that the post process of ML Raw can be a little tedious and requires a massive amount of storage. Since I am a hobbyist with narrative dreams, I’ve been searching for a second camera to shoot fun little vignettes in between shooting days with my 5D3. Shooting is a form of meditation for me and instantly calms me.
After a couple of cameras, I ended buying an RX10ii on the cheap. Now I had the camera last year but struggled with getting good color from it. This time around, I’ve decided to mostly shoot in sLog2 and Cine2 with monochrome and I am pleasantly surprised by how good the images turned out on my first outing with it.
I’ve always loved B&W photos and movies, but I’ve never really shot much with it, so I look forward to learning and experimenting more with it.
Now, I have been posting around here for a few years and color science, correction and grading are all popular discussions but there is rarely mention of B&W.
Does anyone shoot in B&W anymore? Does anyone have any video or screengrabs that were captured in B&W or turned to B&W in post that they’d like to share? Or even strong opinions for or against it?
I’ll start off with a few screengrabs. The first two were shot in sLog2...

And this one was shot in Cine2...

Fail. That will hurt their GH5 sales for sure, no way I am getting a GH5, if I was in the market for one, knowing that that will be an announcement on a month exactly. This gives time to other competitors to make - or brake - their own announcements just after Christmass. I guess 2018 it will be the decisive year. Everyone seem to have a competitive mirrorless on the market. Panasonic and Sony are leading the way so far, but this is the last change for Nikon, and one of the last chances for Olympus, then Fuji, and to a lesser degree, Canon.
@Cinegain sorry to bring that up, but that APS-C camera exists, and I do have most. It is called Samsung NX1, and except 4K/60p has everything the G9 has and more. Including the battery grip was always less expensive than the G9. oh, and also has this little screen on top that a lot of people made fun of 3 years ago!

Sadly I couldn't keep it long enough^(investing in some telephoto lenses) which is why the images in my video aren't exactly to my full potential.
Therefor I'm looking forward to your review instead

For me, it's a great shame the world seems to go from racial and religious division, through political division and onto cultural division so often, like a cycle, and it looks like we're going through one of those phases again, which leads to a world war.
The first thing to happen is the mob mentality, where dissenting voices in the crowd are dismissed even if they might be reasonable and logical.
Be it a far-left uprising or a far-right one, I hate all extremists.
Fighting Nazis is very noble but there are quite a lot who now consider all conservatives or anybody slightly right of centre on certain issues to be flat out evil people. I don't buy that and the Google thing shows that there's a huge, uncontrollable politically correct mob at corporations who can't have an honest debate about certain subjects because they're taboo.
