Pleased to announce that my Pocket4K app for Android is now complete and is with beta testers so barring any calamties will be available from the Play store on the 21st of December.

Here is a screen shot with a quick run through of the features from top to bottom :

Across the top we have the controls for Aperture, ISO and shutter angle.
Next up we have the colour temperature and tint controls, the preset white balance selectors, the Auto White Balance button and, of course, the Record button.
Beneath that we have the 8 snapshot memories which you can use to store and instantly recall 8 different custom settings of ISO, Aperture, Shutter Angle and White Balance. To store the preset you long press on the memory slot that you want to use and to recall it just short press. Haptic feedback is given to indicate that the preset has been written and the currently loaded preset is denoted in orange (M1 in the shot above). Presets are stored in non volatile memory so are always available in any session.
Next is the focus controller, which is operated using the slider and/or the fine tune buttons. A long press of the button moves instantly to closest focus and infinity respectively. The AF button in ths row activates the single shot auto focus.
To accompany the focus controls, you then have 6 memory slots (A to F) to store focus points and you can switch instantly between them by simply pressing the required one. In addition, next to these are the controls for A-B-A focus transition and the speed control. Again, all focus points are stored in non volatile memory for use in any session.
Finally we have the controls for applicable MFT power zoom lenses with the same interface as the focus controls (including long press for instant minimum/maximum zoom) and 4 non volatile memory positions for later recall.
There is another function that it can do that I'll let you know about closer to release date and I will put up a little demo video of it in action late next week.

Just can’t believe how cheap this camera is.
Pop it in a cage (I’ve got the 8Sinn one) and it feels absolutely fine. And it’s still cheap!

Based on the that sequence, I suspect it might be counting down to offering you a refreshing Kia-Ora orange juice before the main feature presentation.
Or advising you of a delicious Indian restaurant only 70 yards from this cinema.

Yeah he shoots with a Red camera, and complains that this phone cost 1300 dollars, and he is paying 3000 bucks for a Red Mag! The new iPhone's with extra memory cost 1300 bucks or more also.  Any new product that is pushing tech to the max is going to have warts.

Some of the 3d (h4v) photographs are truely extraordinary. By no means perfect but an astonishing experience. They genuinely capture a scene in a way not previously possible with this level of convenience.
Biggest problem is that it’s not possible to share them or view them on anything other than the phone. Not sure how that will be addressed.
Not sure I understand why there are so many negative if not vitriolic reviews.

Sliders, drones and gimbals are all over used when first becoming popular and will later on fade a bit to be used only when needed.
Personally I can't stand unnecessary gimbal shots and don't get me started on drones

So, I now have a Red.
Apart from the steep learning curve with Android (trying to switch that bl@@dy assistant off was a challenge) it is a superb device.
The 3d (H4V)? It can be totally stunning. Absolutely amazing. Even to the point I flinched when a chopstick popped out of the screen. It can also be ghastly and nauseous. It is critical to get the screen in just right place so sharing the experience is difficult (although I do have two thanks to Jim - titanium to be delivered in due course).
No idea if it’s the start of something massive. Will it change cinema or photography? Who knows. But get it right and it is an experience like no other.
    Definitely worth the wait.

Two things, the negative and the positive, first I'll go through the negative and then the positive,
    The Negative
I'd like to apologize for my behavior on this website. I have a spare EOSHD account and found my name on google and still attached to this website. I looked at the email message and found out it was about caps lock on the lenses section of this website years ago. I should have not used caps lock and also I should not have shouted at everyone on this website. I'd like to return because I have made some discoveries, and I enjoy being around very bright and intelligent along with extremely practical and very informative folks like yourself. May I please be allowed back on this website and blog and comment and speak to other people? And it has been an honor for me to speak to you all on this website. I apologize and wish to undo anything that can lead to me being banned again. I will try my best to not act defensive and not to take things personally. I apologize to the moderator Jon Pais for being rude. I would also like to if I graduate from Film School, have employment from a master's degree and college with my computer science degree as well as my bachelor's in theater with photography as a minor.
    The Positive
I have taken a photography class at college and passed it with a D, unfortunately I didn't know how to use my DSLR creatively, but I passed. I know now how to use lighting better. I am almost done with having an associate's degree in college. I am taking proper medication for my hyperactiveness and mood swings and I've been through therapy as well. I also have been discussing a lot about filmmaking on the other site, Reddit under the alias, Zack194a on the filmmakers part of Reddit. I think I'm getting a good idea on how to use lighting for video, and I took some recent photographs I have taken with my T2i after learning from Photography class. I learned new things like metering and sunny 15 rule as well as light distance (distance from light affects the image). My college major at this moment is computer science, which as I searched up I hope will get me jobs at many places. I am taking 4 courses in community college at this moment and two of them are A's and the other two are B's. Thank you for reading this.

My previous account is Zach Goodwin

Here are some of the photos I have taken They were taken on a Canon T2i with an FD lens: 35-105mm, F/3.5 :

1 - battery door does not flop open. I just removed it as it serves no purpose.
2 - Not had any battery sticking issues and was just pointing out a possible reason for it with other users.
3 - Maybe just my body as it's not been reported by others
4 - Battery life is not rubbish and It's just as expected.
    5 - Barrel distortion on M43 lenses - that's a Panasonic and Olympus fault.
6 - All screens are unusable outside without a shade unless they are very high nit
7 - Don't need to add a 1tb drive as I already have one and it was less than £200  and BTW a 1TB T5 is about £250 which is cheap, cheap storage compared to V90 SDXC or Cfast.
    8  Cage - nah
9 - Add on power - already have it with an Atomos Powerstation.
    10 - Monitor - already have one
So yes it is a £1000 cinema camera (FFS) as I haven't spent a penny more on it an it's ready to go. (once I make a screen shade)
Now how about your suggestions for a £1500 camera.....
More batteries - yes if you have a higher nit screen you will need them.
No idea what others are saying about infinity issues but that's not a design feature you need to pay for is it?
In camera lens distortion correction means substandard resampling as it's speed over quality so I'd rather do it afterwards. Not a feature I'd pay for in a 'cinema camera.'
EVF - articulated I suppose well that would be nice but the cost will be significant.
Articulated screen - yes. Bright = more battery drain and heat
Raise the price to £1500 - i.e give them away. I reckon £3000 easy for that spec and 2-3 years away.

I’m sorry Andrew, but the tone in your post is aggressive and reads like something I’d expect from the Sun or the Daily Mail. I spent many years living in the UK and am heartbroken about Brexit.
And yet I am not surprised, your post displays exactly why Brexit happened. Just as so many others in the UK you’re using the EU to project your frustration rather than aim that anger at the politicians that have ravaged your country over the last three decades. The UK has the largest income differences in Europe and the poverty and decay is astounding. Somehow British politicians and media have managed to make the EU a villain rather than get their own shit together.
The UK is without a doubt the European country I’ve lived in (4 so far) where it’s the most difficult to photograph in public. By far.
Perhaps you could try and excercise a bit of trust rather than spew vitriol against the EU? You really think it’s that bad? Last I looked the EU is a very successful peace project that safeguards a continent ravaged by brutal wars for centuries.
So f-n tired of British people whining about bloody banana regulations or the EU interfering with winter savings time or whatever.
You should put some sources, links and context for your post. Then, perhaps it will have some semblance of credibility.
So many posts in this thread are nothing but depressing. Welcome to the outrage factory!
    Quality.

Do you have any source about the fact "the UK wanted to work together with Europe to solve problems like digital privacy and copyright in a rational way.… but it’s difficult when your partner-government consists almost entirely of snivelling weasels." Do you mean it's good UK against bad Europe? Bit simplified no?
I did a couple of timelapse in London and it's one of the worst possible place on earth for street filming. Most of the city if own by a few Lords and every time you set up a tripod the security shows up in 2 min (courtesy of CCTV I guess) to kick you out. Even Dubai is much more relax for landscape photography.

Let's do a bit of history:
Brexit is the result of gamble lost by Cameron and won by the some of the worst populists that exist in Europe. Farage, Johnson, the daily mail, and company. Where are the £350m per week promised to the NHS?
Don't get me wrong, France has Le Pen, Italy has Salvini, Kurz in Austria and the AFD is rising in Germany.. No one is spared by this populist wave fueled by many phenomena (globalization, Syrian crisis, economic crisis, etc.) but UK is far from being the white knight in Europe (it's not what you said I know). They joined Europe in the 70s after they realized it was good for the economy. Since Thatcher, UK has been asking for "rebate" all the time with a certain success. Now the British are going to explore the "open sea" alone as Churchill said. And it's sad because the Brits are some of the best people on earth. It's a great nation with a fantastic history. Very creative and I have a lot of friends there.

Yes, there are some BS with Europe and I agree with some of your points but actually, the General Data Protection Regulation also brings some good stuff against the abuse of the GAFAs. Europe is only the sum of it's members, unfortunately many of them have opposite interests (tax dumping in Ireland and Luxembourg, financial center in the City, conservative pole in Hungary and Poland, federalism in France, etc.) and put the blame on "Brussels" which is only the headquarter of the institutions. "Europe" doesn't create BS, it comes from its members and their lobbyists in Brussels. UK is among the top for lobbyist work by the way.
