I've received exclusive info from a trusted source to exactly what this new gizmo does:
1. VR, Holographic, 3D and some other cool sounding stuff that actually does sound cool but we have to use our imagination into exactly how it will work. 
2. New Module - RED Car Control. Simply control your actual car in a VR Google map. Pretend it has guns to shoot other cars in your way. (Bluetooth and Cruise Control vehicles only). 
3. New Module - RED Nightmare Grenade. Record and play your worst nightmares in REDs r3d codec at up to 8k 120fps and share your experience online in VR. 
4. New Module - RED Weapon Tank. Convert your RED Weapon into a tank so you can film it blow up stuff at 1000fps. 
5. New Module - RED Blast Radius. Use your Hydrogen radar module to identify Google, Apple and Samsung phones around you. Detonate them with a single touch. 
6. New Module - RED Interrogator. Use your phone's A.I assistant (like Siri but angry and military like) to question other peoples camera choices as they are inferior to RED. 
7. Camera Expansion - RED MAX. Combine your phone with RED's new RED MAX projector that can predict the future of all other camera brand resolutions and frame rates. Comes with canned laughter. (the projector comes at up to IMAX size and can also be combined with helicopter propellors for RED SKY IMAX. 
8. Camera Expansion - RED Chain Bomb. You can "daisy chain" all RED Hydrogen phones together by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to create a holographic RED logo in the sky which explodes into red fireworks. Doing this increases your RED Weapons ISO temporarily to ISO 3000,400,700,201. 33. It's so sensitive that you can actually film through objects. 
9. Firmware Update - RED Handed. This is sort of like Apple's "Find Your iPhone" app, but this actually detects if someone has stolen the phone and activates an electric shock so the robber drops your phone. It then has wings that come out the sides and flies back to you. 
10. Firmware Update - Code RED. Write your own code and add features to your RED Weapon camera, such as a Disney film app or even better, a library of War genre films to watch while you judge exposure on your shoot. 
 
The trusted source also said the price for the phone is just for the actual shell of the phone, and you will have to buy all the separate components and modules to make it work. Each module is rumoured to be priced around $47,500 and there will be 437 to choose from by 2019. 
Text messaging will be added as firmware update in 2020 and it will cost a cut-price of $23,000.

This is a sad reality when working for some clients. You could rig up a small camera to look all big and pro, but you are back to square one again, in terms of mobility.

The 5Diii has really held it's value... I sold mine for £1500 with 24/105mm lens for £1500 2 years ago and they are going for more than that now!

Canon's trump card is it's lens collection. That's what stops the vast majority of people switching.
As long as they are king of the lenses, they can play catchup on the camera itself. It might seem backward, but that is the truth for many, many professional photographers.
For video, they clearly see 1080p as fine for the consumer and 4K as pro only. So many choices now that I don;t know why anyone gives a shit anymore. If you truly love the Canon look, get a 5Diii, 7D etc and hack it. Should we have to hack a camera to get it to 2017 specs? No.... Can we, hell yea!

You're gonna get a bit of an echo chamber here, lots of people with new GH5s... and also lots of people who haven't used a bigger setup.
From the style of work you make, I think you will miss having a truly top quality image in your main camera (raw, 13 stops dr, nice rolloff, HFR etc)
I sold a combo of 5DIII (ML raw) and FS700/OQ7 setup to move to NX1 and A7s ii... regretted it massively. At the end of the day, IQ is what really counts and I traded that for mobility and specs. I have now sold it all up and gone back to a 5Diiii.
You already have some great cameras for the mobility stuff, why not just use them on the shoots that you feel you would benefit from mobility, but have an F5S, C200 or whatever for the shoots that need a higher level of IQ.
I did used to hate tethering the OQ7 to the FS700 though. C200 or the new panny look far more interesting, small but with internal cinema quality IQ.

I cant believe we are still having this discussion.
Canon is the number one best selling camera company. They haven't forgotten to put in 4K. Nor made a non thinking decision. Or because of conservatism. Or any of the other hundreds of reasons we will see on forums across the world.

They have made the decision based on MONEY!
They have spent lots of time, research, endless meetings, focus groups, analyzed data, you know... all that stuff that people in forums have absolutely not done.
And based on their findings they have made a decision.

So far they have been right every single time. No matter what Panasony puts in their cameras Canon is still outselling them.
And if that wasn't enough. This is the 6D... its always been their sub 5D model... And its an awesome stills camera. Aimed at the people out there who actually buys cameras.. stills shooters.
Now if they would have put 4K video and IBIS in their 6D. Driven the cost to the same level or at least to close to the 5D. And scared of the biggest bulk of the camera buying target group, who actually quite often gets mad about having to pay for video features...
Well that would have been truly stupid.
But whats most supricing of all.
This happens every single time. They are not now nor ever going to release a stills camera that will wow the video crowd. So just let it go.
Its the same thing when all the whining about Blackmagic delays are rolling the interent. Even though its how they do it every single time.
 

Everything else is $h!t? Really? So lowlight is shit? Lens selection, battery life, durability,  support, picture quality? You seem mighty convinced of the EVA1 for a camera that no one has seen a single frame from. I think I'll  hold judgement for when it's  released, as talking out of ones ass always stinks.

Now do the same test in a high contrast scene, with a human face and harsh highlights.

Frankly I think it's ok if this camera is not for everyone. That's why other options exist. You can't be all things to all people.
