And then 6 months after the XT2 is released the Fuji cult will be singing the praises of that Kaizen bullshit when they add it via a FW update.
It will be interesting to see what they can do with that goofy Xtrans array in 4k, one of the clips posted on DPR shows a lot of moire. If their claim of being able to do full sensor readout is true, there's hope.
Love Fujis lenses, love the colors and I really dig little things like the joystick to move the AF point - if Fuji can get its video on par with the A7rII, I'd happily shift away from Sony and it ever bloated lens lineup. Fuji has all the primes and zooms I'd like to see in E-mount, but the insane focus on what's essentially a stills only body in 2016 is not doing them any favors.
And I agree with moving beyond your existing customer base, what the point of building the same shit for people that are already in the X-mount ecosystem, new models should try to reach out to people that don't shoot Fuji, otherwise they run the risk of becoming Pentax.

it is alot cleaner in low light - the blacks are stunningly clean, cleaner than the Red Epic we tested it against, image looks very similar to the Arri Alexa we tested it against - there is hardly anything in it !! amazing camera from Panasonic   , the G7 camera lets you shoot in the shadows very cleanly in very low light. I am using 4 Panasonic G7 cameras for the new Pandora feature film I am DOP on , Panasonic have partnered up with us for this movie and we are working together to show how good the G7 is a film making tool. I am using Metabones XL Speedboosters on all the cameras, Brian Caldwell and Metabones have kindly supplied them for us to use in Nikon and EF mount . We are using these with Atomos Ninja Assassins and all the rigs for the movie are supplied by Gini Rigs , I will post some pics of these rigs soon.

Damn that is fast, especially with the 50/1.2. That would make a great lowlight/portrait option on a crop body instead of something like the Batis 85.

I'm going to go ahead and say it. This $1,000 camera looks slightly better to me than the URSA Mini 4.6 footage I've been seeing -- in terms of color rendition and motion cadence. That's a matter of taste to be sure but damn it if it doesn't make sacrificing resolution a no-brainer for such a beautiful cinematic image. I have one pre-ordered. Maybe i should sell my Pocket and get two of these.

Don, check the f5/55 forums. Sounds like you may have read a portion of the14 pages worth on DVXuser. Also Photozone, and  individual blog posts as well. The claim is not unsubstantiated.  I should still have my lens test files, but unfortunately wont be returning home until mid April. (a likely story right ) However, the lenses  (24-70ii 70-200ii, 50 Xenon FF) are adapted like I would imagine the vast majority of emount Sony's being used for video are.
Grim,  I mentioned that Sony's seem to "exacerbate" ca for whatever reason. "Amplify" in the way you've used it was not my intent. Thanks for the aberration 101!
Again, I totally agree lens/adapter and have never stated otherwise. For whatever reason Sony cams just seem to make fringing even more apparent.  Any one find multiple threads/posts/blogs about abnormal fringing from Panasonic users? Red?  Black magic? Nikon?

When we've countered, hypothesized, and explained away all of these posts from users on other forums who are obviously much less educated and experienced than our Wikipedia copying selves,  we can go back to our ignorant bliss, admiring our sleek consumer cams collecting dust, dreaming all the while about custom Alexa luts. and how amazing our video will look to the 47 Vimeo users who stumble across it while searching for porn.

A newscast is copyrighted content, nothing about it is public domain. In fact virtually nothing has entered the public domain in the U.S. in decades, you can thank the fuck-tards at Disney for that one because every 10 years when Mickeys copyright is about to expire they shovel truckloads of cash at lobbyists and get the copyright extended.
Rant off. I just hate copyrights being extended in perpetuity for the sake of greed, that was never the intention of copyright protection.

Came Single is $1000, I paid $650 for the DS1, the Single weighs more but the DS1 has a much higher capacity - 2.6 vs 3.8 pounds.
Interesting they they're claiming 20 hour life when they use the same batteries as the DS1, but only 2 cells for the Single compared to 3 for the DS1.
Without a battery or lens the Micro weighs more than twice what a GoPro weighs (88g just the camera, 150g with housing vs 301g for just the micro body), I seriously doubt a GoPro gimbal will be able to handle the weight of the bare camera, much less one with a battery and lens. It will also be much more front heavy than a tiny go pro or a flat phone, that gives the small motor gimbals issues. I know someone that tried to rig his RX100 to one of the GoPro gimbals and it wouldn't stop vibrating, it was too heavy and it weighs just 298g with battery and card.
Not saying it won't work, but it seems unlikely. For a few hundred more you can get a larger gimbal that will work with no issues.

Completely OT, but nothing published after 1923 has entered the public domain in the U.S., Disney is one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, they don't care about anyone's families, including their own employees given some of the massive layoffs from some of their most profitable divisions simply to make them more profitable - see ESPN. Disney only cares about making their shareholders happy as demonstrated by that lame remake of Episode IV by the great Xerox director they call The Force Awakens.
Society as a whole benefits from unrestricted access to science and the arts, we're already at authors life + 70 years or 95 for a corporation. This comes up again soon, expect to see the same BS as before - "we have to keep Mickey away from the porn industry" while Disney shovels loads of cash into the coffers of those voting for another extension.
Continually extending copyrights only benefits a select few - the publishers - plain and simple its nothing more than corporate welfare. Hopefully our next president vetoes the bill and puts an end to this nonsense.

    No.
Same goes for your original question with the quote, as long as its properly attributed, it falls under fair use. Watch any issue driven doc and you'll see a barrage of quotes from news stories, video from news reports and so on, as long as its attributed, you're fine. I watch a few docs a week, along with Frontline and 60 Minutes all the time and they cite stuff from books, newspapers and so on - constantly. Its all about attribution, cite the source and you're good.
I'm not a lawyer, but I took every media law class offered at my university when getting my journalism degree. I wouldn't hesitate for a second pulling a quote from somewhere else and including it in a piece. Its done all the time, its fair use as long as you're citing your source. I'm only speaking about the U.S.

Phil, how much gear do you want to lug? Travel kit means different things to everyone, for some its a RX100, for me everything fits in a messenger bag, so my gear will not slow me down. IBIS/OS is a must for me, I want everything to be stabilized to some degree. For me Sony's E-mount cameras are the best stills/video options at the moment, but there are great lenses at all my favorite FL's. For some Sony's lineup is really lacking, though speedsters and AF adapters open up hundreds of AF lenses if you get the A7rII and the upcoming a6300.
That means 2 bodies, and 4 or 5 lenses tops, along with a Ride Videomic pro for audio and a small LED and reflector for more light or a fill. Right now I have the A7rII, the A7s and a5100 that will soon be replaced by the a6300. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the new 24-70 GM which will cover about 80% of what I shoot when you include the crop mode on the A7rII, and f/2.8 is a good mix of speed with a decent shallow DOF on the long end. The a5100 usually has the 10-18 as my UWA, so I'm changing lenses less often and they share batteries meaning I'm not carrying chargers for two different cameras. I have the 28/2, 24/1.8 and Batis 85 as fast/light lens options with the B85 being my shallow DOF king. I typically don't carry a tele because that's a lot of weight/space for a lens I'll only use about 5% of the time, but I have the 70-200/4 if needed. I carry a gorilla pod or a small carbon photo tripod for things like timelapses. The tripod (Benro Travel Angel) also has a removable leg to serve as a monopod.
I just picked up the Beholder DS1 and I'm not sure if its something I'll travel with often since that's a couple extra pounds and more batteries/charger I need to lug, but when I'm shooting doc footage it'll be in my bag. If the a6300 is as good as advertised I'm considering going much smaller/lighter for extended travel with 2 bodies and all APS-c lenses. IBIS and a couple 2.8 GM zooms would be nice, but Sony is focused on FF so we probably won't see that for awhile. Anyway.
If you're going 1080p for the web, the A7s is a great HD camera, used about $1400, and something like the a6300 will give you high IQ stills along with 4k and the A7s will be a low light beast that crushes everything once you go above 12800. Sony's photo apps are great, you have time-lapse, sky HDR (replaces gradual ND filters for proper long exposures without blowing out skies and such) and smooth reflection (which replaces standard ND filters for those silky waterfall shots). There are a few other's I've been wanting to try including the live view grading (kind of a LUT while shooting flat), the light painting, star trail and light trail - all can be done in post, but these apps are real time savers as you're not carrying filters, stacking and blending images, just tweaking the raw to get the final look you want.
M43 will give you a smaller kit with some great fast lens options - and Olympus has the best IBIS around - but stills are really lacking behind Sony's FF sensor. You won't find a wider range of native lens options unless you go Canon or Nikon DSLR.
Anything Blackmagic isn't an option for me since it doesn't shoot stills and also generates some large files. ML raw is out just for storage needs, but also because even with a small lens the 5d3 isn't very compact compared to something like the a5100/10-18 and a 50mm prime. Again I travel small.
I'm going to be taking an extended trip starting later this year - my wife and I will be traveling around the world for a year and shooting a doc about the experience - so I'm trying to whittle everything down to a bare bones/covers as much as possible kit that's not too large/heavy/cumbersome. For me this means IBIS is so valuable since I really won't need anything other than a gorilla pod for support - and that's mostly to get low shots while keeping the camera off the ground.
This got a little longer than intended, lots of options and I'm still working through them myself.

I find it very convenient when shooting to be able to grab stills or video without juggling cameras. BMPCC uses Canon batteries, so you're charging/carrying two sets of batteries and lenses unless you're carrying a 5d3. File sizes are larger too and its not 4k. I see you've traveled with a little larger kit than I do, but not that much. You could do something like the Batis 25/85 combo and with crop mode you also have 42/127. I've owned the 35/1.4, its big and most are a little softer on one side, not a $1500 lens IMO.
I have someone that's interested in trading my A7rII for a A7sII, I'm seriously considering the swap and replacing my A7s/a5100 with the a6300, so I'll have high quality FF and crop 4k along with 120fps, IBIS on one body, and the a6300 will have blazingly fast AF and higher rez stills as I find 12 mp a little limiting with landscapes. All my batteries, chargers and lenses will be compatible across my kit and I'll still be very nimble with all my gear in a small bag that I can always carry on a plane.
Interested to see where you wind up.
