I’m going to pass on this version. Give me the same thing with a 1” sensor and I’m all over it.

A or B folks... like the Highlander... there can be only one. Failing to choose merely shows attempts to hide bias. If you don’t want to answer... DON’T.
I’ll make one more rule for this survey... any answer that is not Singular and not as specified is an automatic “A”. This means answers such as “Both” or Neither are counted as “A”. If this is not your intention... vote “B”.

Just wanted to post this up here in remembrance of my faithful friend Hildy (my Hildoogans). It's probably not shot well and I'm sure the dynamic range is poor,... but I'll miss her anyway. She kept me company and was a good soul. She gave all the love she could to us and she was a beloved member of our family. We will always miss you Hildy.

All the tech is protected by IP... if Fuji and Nikon can implement it on their Sony based sensors, so can Panasonic. The S1 is almost twice the cost as the X-T3.
And as was already pointed out, bundling an audio codec firmware with a picture profile makes no sense. It should be free with the $400 DMW-XLR1 audio adapter.

    So sorry to hear that.
It surely evoked emotions, that's more important than all the technical stuff.

@DaveAltizer I just watched your video earlier too and enjoyed the rant ha. I picked up an EOS-R, A7III, X-T3, and just now a Z6 just to compare for myself. And I’ll be damned if EOS-R doesn’t have some mojo. It doesn’t make any sense on paper but as you, @DBounce and others have said, there is something satisfying about the image. And it’s not just color as I’m shooting monochrome video. It just somehow looks closer to vision I have my head. Even the X-T3 I found to look nice, but somehow more sterile and less vibey ha ha.  And that was with both F-log and Acros and trying to match the rich monochrome look I can get out of the Canon.
Still I’m very interested to see what the raw Z6 image will look like.

Thanks for sharing my video @DBounce . I was surprised that anyone watched that 20 minute rant video lol. There is literally nothing to it but a rant. glad you like it. I wish Canon made better STM EF-S lenses so that crop wouldnt be such an issue.

There are a ton of features that could be added to cinema cameras to differentiate them from MILCs. How about wireless timecode with auto sync? It’s not even like the tech needs to be invented.
This protectionist nonsense is killing sales and stifling innovation.
Bad market aside, I believe a lot of buyers find it hard to justify buying into any of the new systems because all of them have been released handicapped in some way or another. For 90% of users, they would do better to wait until the second generation products are released.

But is that really wide when shooting in 4K? That’s a 28-60. Close to a Tamron 27-75 E-Mount zoom lens.
Eh, it works but it’s an EF-S lens. Which kinda narrows its appeal.
Im not hating on the EOS R. The final image out of the camera can be quite good. I’m just saying Canon could have and should have done better.
We’re spoiled. It makes some shots much easier to do with one person, a camera, and a gimbal. Who wouldn’t want some half decent AF on their camera?

DBounce got a reaction from Leica50mm in Does auto focus make any zoom parafocal?
The truth is that most filmmakers are doing fairly subtle zooms, so AF does work well enough in many cases to render the need for parfocal lenses redundant.

The banding is caused by my the DPAF and is only visible under extreme conditions. That said, missed focus is visible under ALL conditions, so that’s a trade off I’m willing to make for my shooting.
Speaking of ergonomics, the flip screen on the Canon is easily a better option than the   tilt screen of the Panasonic so there’s that also to consider. The aforementioned also extends to the convenience of being able to flip the screen inwards when carrying it.
For myself, I’m fine with heavy cameras, if the performance is there, as shown by the 1DXMK2 which is also great for fast action shots. But if I have to make a trade-off I want a lighter body.
As to the OP, I would buy the Canon. While he clearly stated he does not care about AF, he made mention of native EF glass. If he’s not inclined to purchase new glass the EOS R is a smarter choice.
With the Adapter, the EF glass works as native glass. Zero issues. Honestly it’s the best adaptation I’ve ever used.
That said, any of the current batch of mirrorless are good enough for 95% of users. The bar has moved far enough that frankly we are down to the point of just being nitpicky.
