Looks like a great camera. I get why there’s no internal nds but man that’s a bummer. Also no 6k 50, but Blackmagic has been pretty good about pushing frame rates in updates.

Shame it uses LPE6 batteries though.

Most of my speculations in another theme turned out to be true. 🙂 Blackmagic joins L Mount and produces it's first FF cinema camera. Price is good but form factor is disappointing. Still prefer Panasonic S1/S5/S5II + BM Video Assist 5 12G for BRAW video. Much more versatile combo.

The reworked Micro Studio Camera then... looks with the new additions that they've accidentally created the box P4K that everyone has been asking for.
A nod to Panasonic there that its possible to bring out a new MFT camera that isn't the size of a brick.
However......
Unless I missed it, does that new 6K not have the ND filters ?
It wasn't mentioned and looking at the rear panel the +/- buttons to control it that the P6K Pro has were not there.
The AF looks like the familiar standard too though and I'm guessing much would have been made if it had something new in that department *

Its pretty much a BRAW shooting version of the original S5 without the IBIS then 😉
Looks pretty good but not the complete revolution many were predicting/expecting/hoping for. 
 
*yes, yes real cinema cameras have no AF anyway etc but don't say that you wouldn't love it if it had it..
 

Agreed. Aside from just being ugly, it's just not a very practical design for a video centric camera. My guess though is that's how they save money on development and manufacturing costs.

They did it. They went with the L-mount. Nice! Still ugly as sin though haha.

My guess is a new modular Pocket-style box camera with built-in NDs like the 6K Pro.

wishlhlist: pocketcamera with a good formfactor and no rolling shutter - don't care wether m43 or apsc...

Whatever it is, it'll be incredibly ugly, unwieldy, and have terrible battery life. 
Can't wait! 

I'm wondering if they may trickle some of that 12K sensor tech into a cheaper body. Pocket 12K? Or maybe a full frame sensor? Just 4 hours until we find out.

Give me L mount or give me dead! And I say that as a huge Blackmagic fan, without a mirrorless mount they’re done for in the budget cinema space.

My wild speculation is that it will be a groundbreaking stereo 360VR camera using 16K braw files, with built in 3rd order ambisonics audio (in 32bit of course)
 
Come on man, be realistic! That's totally unreasonably wild speculations, that BMD would never do. 
You should stick with  more serious speculations that are actually possible in this world we live in, such as the  perfectly possible camera I just suggested BMD might release.

Good for you. Always fancied a bit of FX3 action myself but as a fully paid up member (at this time) of the L Mount Alliance and no hands on or rental opportunities where I live, only been able to live my FX3 fantasies vicariously.
I could of course have bought one off Amazon, played with it and sent it back for full refund. But I'm not a complete twat.
I did do that with an XH2 and before that, an OM-1, but in both cases I genuinely intended to keep each unit at that time. 
But anyway, enjoy your FX3.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I bought the FX3 in the end and so far so good. Now spending a small fortune on SD cards, spare batteries, Metabones adapter and new SSDs for my Atomos Ninja so I can work in ProRes Raw. I've been looking into file formats for recording on the FX3 and considering XAVC S-I 4K or XAVC S-I DCI 4K but it seems that DCI is locked to 24P. Am I right? I will probably work mainly in 25P or 50P with some 120P shooting. Thank you.

I would say this announcement is going to tank the prices for the F5/F55 camera bodies, but... I am not sure if they can go any lower!
But this is very much aimed at the F5/F55 owner. 
It's a big jump up from the FS7 (which is what the FX9 was aimed at). 
While being massively cheaper than the F35/F65 was (which is what the VENICE is aimed at).

Math would be my best friend. No more cams for me. Doing the math, I need to sell some. Got a red GM5 with a black 12 to 32mm couple weeks ago. Such a beauty. Cute lil flash and black leather camera case. Time to snap some pictures around the city and have some og ice cream!😊
