Nikkor reacted to Andrew Reid in Wolfcrow
This post should be taken as friendly advice to all YouTubers.
In the video above he says "I do not get cameras for free. I buy all the cameras I review".
In the next video, on the Pocket 4K camera he says it is the final retail version, and starts unboxing it.
There is not a single disclosure about it being sent to him for free by Blackmagic expressively for a review.
This is known as "sponsored content".
In fact, Wolfcrow has broken US law without even knowing it.
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) says that all sponsored content should disclose the relationship with the manufacturer.
If you don't clearly label it as such, in the description for example, it is punishable by law with a huge fine and legal action.
This is NOT me being "sour grapes" about Blackmagic again (although I SUPER pissed off they lied to me about camera reviewers not being sent units). I like Wolfcrow's channel.
But if he is going to say "I never get a camera for free", and then suddenly he goes against his word and has a pre-release camera from Blackmagic, he should disclose it. Right up-front, start of video, clear as can be. End of story. No discussion. Just do it.

Tried out the Z7 today at Allen's Camera in NJ, came away extremely impressed. Very responsive (quick to turn on, no hesitation in the menus) , beautiful EVF, great IBIS (smoother than Sony) and the video tracking for me was better than what I saw in the A7III. 24-70 was very sharp and focused well, but lacked character for me in it's rendering. 35 1.8 was incredible, razor sharp, great rendering. They did not have the 50mm there.

What floored me the most was video AF with my Nikon AF-s glass. It was excellent! The focus motors are not quiet, but the focus was smooth and didn't hunt at all. Would not hesitate to use for event work. The adapter seemed rock solid when mounted on the camera.

Obviously would need to use for an extended period of time to see other issues, but so far I think they have a winner.

He should have filmed the video whilst sipping a mojito from a deckchair on a beach whilst wearing a Canon baseball cap on backwards, it would have about the same credibility.
Yes let me get my money out once more, I am so eager to spend $2300 on a 1.8x crop 4K camera with no IBIS and lenses with no wide angle end. BARGAIN!

I understand YMMV, but I shoot 4K video regularly with both the A7III and A7RIII trackside, where it is often 120° ambient and I have yet to even received a heat warning. I think most reports of overheating are from folks that don’t know to enable high heat operation.
I’ve had plenty overheating problems with previous models (NEX7, A7RII, A7SII, A99II all overheated horribly), but these current ones are so reliable I don’t even keep them out of the sun between shoots anymore. I let them bake and they don’t even flinch.
The attached video is me shooting for Subaru with the A7III mounted to a Ronin shooting 4K internal after the camera sat in direct sun for an hour (I was shooting with the R3 on sticks leading up to this) in 100°+ weather.
In addition to shots like this, I also conducted several 20+ minute interviews in similar conditions without issue.

Sooooo judging from the 50 or so clips I’ve managed find showcasing the Nikon Z7 in video all I can see is a great image with brilliant autofocus, especially the face detection. And if you expose it correctly it almost looks like Kodachrome in motion.
Nikon USA has also confirmed the 4K internal bitrate to 144mbps, not 100 as previously reported.

We're pretty far down the capitalist rabbit hole when a basic human courtesy could be seen as 'marketing'.
It's not about being into marketing, it's about being a nice person.
Yes at the event, some were a new class of marketing people. I don't yet know what their game is. I don't really find their editorial interesting or their technical expertise that impressive, but they are there and they are beating the hell out of me when it comes to the PR networking game.

It has been reported that Samsung is now producing full frame camera sensor in "large quantities". It is unclear who they are making these sensors for, or if this sensor will make its way into a new Samsung body.

BTW, did you know that Active D-lighting is available in 4k? And Nikon marketing didn't bother to tell this to people.

Exactly. And If you do use apsc lenses for video, and then switch to photo mode for a quick snap of the action, you won't be happy.
crop sensors are fine, forced switching between crop and full frame on the same body is not. It's unthinkable to shoot both photos and 4K video at the same event on this camera.

Canon's own ones might be, but there are plenty of decent third-party crop lenses. The real problem is, if you're going down that route, you may as well slap them on a mirrorless from... well, basically any of the other manufacturers and call it a day.

Yes all these people criticism about  the lens lineup, while most of them are using second hand vintage lens on their camera and so many are complaining because they can't adapt their existing lens to XYZ camera. If they were that rich to buy 1.5 - 2k primes, I think it should not have been a problem to re buy all lens line up. If someone can tell me the advantage in film making between a 1.8 and 1.4/1.2 lens, I am really curious. Perhaps they have fun shooting 90% of the time there subject out of focus.
Don't you have a way to let him post but be invisible to every one. He would still think that he is posting and no one would be responding, a troll worst nightmare. The guy doesn't contribute anything to this forum, he says he has zero interest in the Nikon but continuously post on them.

    What year is it, 2009?
    Shooting 1080p as a "work-around"?
We have plenty of choice for full frame 4K.
    A7S II, A7R II, A7 III, A7R III, Z6, Z7, D850 and soon A7S III / Panasonic full frame.
You buy a full frame camera to shoot full frame stills and full frame video that looks the same as the stills. It's HYBRID camera.
If you want to shoot 1.8x crop, get a GH5S or a GH5. You'll have money left over for the EF Speed Booster.
I really don't understand why people are making apologies for such a shit spec.

    Look!
Magic Lantern want an EOS R.
And I know just the guy to give them one...
As you can see, Magic Lantern tweeted @ Canon Rumors that they would very much like an EOS R body.
Well together my friends, we can make this happen!
Be ready tomorrow morning Eastern time.
This is when Canon Rumors are starting the competition. All you need to do is enter it. Do whatever's required, even if it involves stupid hashtags like #BeTheRevolution
If you're chosen simply reply that you wish for Magic Lantern to have the camera.
In return, I'll mention your heroic act on the blog.
And if Canon Rumors doesn't end up putting that EOS R body in Magic Lantern's direction, I'll simply point out the truth, that the site Canon once threatened to close down has finally SOLD OUT to the PR machine in a fit of hashtags and Canon giveaways. Yes, the site that leaks and plunders the camera industry for whatever they can find, has finally been tamed!
But Canon Rumors have this chance to redeem themselves.
Give the camera to Magic Lantern.
Contact Canon Rumors here and urge them to support Magic Lantern with the unit

It's time we also held the so-called reviewers responsible for driving the hype-train for handicapped technology for the sake of their pennies in affiliate links. Calling these things "reviews" is fake news. When you're flown out and dined in Hawaii it's not a review, it's a rim job.
