andrgl got a reaction from bristo in Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera
Cineroid comes to mind. They're a little bulky for VFs but they can double as tiny monitors. Plus I think there's a high resolution one at a reasonable price.

andrgl reacted to Don Kotlos in G7 as a stand alone 4k shooter?
4K is overrated. Especially since you started taking videos last week I wouldn't jump into a new camera just for that. For example I found the stabilization that EM1 offered was far more important in creating nice looking videos since my style is handheld with manual lenses. Others might have a need for good AF during video, or ability for a shallow DoF or lowlight performance or large dynamic range or ....
All these things take time to find out and in the meantime 6D is a very capable camera that you can use to learn a lot. Shooting technique, framing, audio, editing etc can make a much much bigger difference than 4K.
New cameras are always going to come and get cheaper & cheaper so no need to rush for something that you want but might not need...
Anyways G7 is a great camera.

andrgl reacted to Oliver Daniel in Kinefinity 2016 Nian new product launches
The thing I like most about Kinefinity is that they very obviously listen to what filmmakers want in their cameras.
They've literally given everything you could ask for with the Terra, including a really decent, accessible price.
Mother camera brands are largely segmented with their product range, and therefore got crippled one way or another - such as the FS5's "10 bit" 50mbps HD XAVC-L. Simply not good enough.
Full frame with the KINE Enhancer too. This could be the best camera release in ages.

Yep I've had that happen too. The worst is when you hand off a final render to a client and they use "enhance" on YouTube.

Man, you can wash your blacks out a little bit - don't listen to these idiots, since taste is absolutely subjective.
And your footage always looks nice...

They definitely have a lot to prove with execution and image quality, but they get an A for innovation. I really like the mechanical ND sled, and the hot swappable lens mounts.

Best from sony by far

I dunno Ed, I wouldn't shortchange the A7S II. White balance issues and 8-bit colour aside, it's a fucking hell of a camera.

The Mini 4.6k looks more modern to me. Whether that's good or bad is subjective.
The Terra has many benefits over the Ursa Mini 4.6k too - such as higher resolutions, higher FPS, much smaller, much lighter, much more modular, switchable shutter (the irony!), can be speed boosted, mount changeable, can be powered with smaller Sony batteries, SSD's......
If the image quality is up there with the Ursa Mini 4.6k, which I believe it will be (seeing previous footage from other models) - it's almost a no-brainer for many cinematic shooters.

A much larger and more boring market of low end pros, yes. Sort of like the market for the C100 and C300.

andrgl reacted to Cinegain in Canon 18-80mm f4
Notice the 'I'd' and 'just me'. I wouldn't shoot a Canon to begin with, tbh.
But anyways... the PXW-FS5K for example includes a SELP18105G. That's the Powerzoom 18-105mm f/4 G OSS E-mount lens. It goes for $548.00. You know. Not that I would go that way either. But it just seems a bit over the top... so, more or less typically Canon. But like the XC10, I know there's always going to be people that will appreciate it. I just don't see it. I'll make do with other set-ups. He asked for thoughts, I gave him one.

andrgl got a reaction from sgreszcz in Set of lenses - Nikon D, Canon FD, Minolta or others?
Obviously too heavy, but it should meet your CA and sharpness requirements: Sigma 18-35 with both a dumb adapter and focal reducing adapter. On a BMPCC that gives you a range of 32-106mm f1.0-1.8.
If you're on m43, pretty hard to beat. The hyperprimes from slrmagic are also awesome, but much pricier and their housing differs from lens to lens. The art zoom is a rig up once affair that can be get any shot wide to portrait.
I'm in love with this lens. And after renting a Zeiss Otus set in EF, I'm still convinced the Sigma is an amazing choice.
