Julian reacted to Nikkor in CM33: Pancake Lens on Kickstarter for Sony/Fuji/Canon
For that kind of money they could have made it autofocus , those fancy guys.
Meanwhile in China. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/this-is-the-new-zonlai-25mm-f1-8-e-mount-lens/

899$ for that ? They must be CRAZY !
Theire mods are no dif. than most filters that we can put infront of a regular lens, for that price (and they even mention it on the video) I could get tens of vintage glass, or go for an Art lens + lens baby or something, this is doomed to be a failure at that pricetag.

Julian reacted to Inazuma in Metabones SpeedBooster XL 0.64 EOS to m43, wow!
How fast is the AF and how much hunting is there? And does the x0.71 booster have the same speed? Does the AF speed vary among different m43 cameras?

Julian reacted to sgreszcz in Panasonic G7 and 14-42 Lens - £339 after cashback - Buy @ £539.00
I got mine yesterday too. Don't forget that there is a new firmware update to give 4K video stills post-focus as well as automatic e-shutter (which I find handy in my lx100).
Now I just have to figure out how to best configure the dials and function buttons to best match my lx100.

Love it Tito!
Always been curious to see some extreme aperture anamorphic shots with the Kowa B&H. I expected it'd work well and it sure does. Looks perfect.

We're now fancy at www.lens-yclopedia.com . Still the same thing until a good soul shows up with some web skills to adapt the information into an even prettier shape of a website.

Julian reacted to Andrew Reid in A few musings on what I missed in my month off from EOSHD!
The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed I've been taking over a month off from EOSHD. Here are my views on what happened whilst I was away.
I am selling up...
After over 5 years of EOSHD I must admit to needing a break from gear. I'm going to completely wipe the slate clean later this month. I will clean out my studio and move. I am selling almost everything I have, but rather than putting it on eBay I will be offering it to EOSHD readers first. Almost everything is going including my Sony A7R II and Canon 1D C. Email me now if you're interested.
EOSHD will continue, but more like in the earlier days. A focus on an artistic approach to cheap gear and lenses. What is the point of me buying a $8k camera and as a result never being interested in the next GH5 or cheap $600 killer camera that kicks way above its station?
So although I won't be buying a Raven or Sony FS5 then, I will continue to offer my views on the higher end kit at EOSHD...

Dibs on your Centavision! hahahahahahahaha. I know you said you would be buried with it in your coffin, so I suggest you arrange for a two man coffin, I'll be buried alive with your corpse, so I can spend a few hours with the lens (before the air runs out)

Julian reacted to ken in ISCORAMA x1.33-16-9 RARE… for sale !
I did not see this lens marked as ISCORAMA, which is 1.5X and single focus lens to my knowledge. The 1.33x lens has less value at least IMO.

Julian got a reaction from Mat Mayer in Need a little help with timelapse on GH4
I guess it's probably easier to not bother with the manual at all to do this. I found it very straight forward.
Turn the top left dial into the interval position (twist the dial all the way to the right). Turn the mode dial into M or A mode (or whatever you want for your pictures).
Open the menu (press menu/set) - Time Lapse / Animation is already highlighted now. Press menu/set again.
Mode should be on Time Lapse Shot (it probably is). Go down to Shooting interval, choose your settings. Press Set on the touch screen.
Choose Start Time in the menu. Set start time of choice or press 'now'...
/Edit: I guess you still had your camera in the movie mode, in that case you won't find the timelapse function in the menu.

Julian reacted to Zak Forsman in SteadXP available on Kickstarter
no, i mean the restrictions, like having to shoot at a high shutter rate for it to be effective. and I can fix rolling shutter in after effects when i need too.

Julian got a reaction from Blake.H in Post scenes from anamorphic movies that you like
@Blake.H Hey, I wanted to post that!
I love movies with strong anamorphic bokeh. So Killing them Softly blew me away.
It was shot at T2 T2.5, even during the day! Check out this article if you liked it: http://www.theasc.com/ac_magazine/October2012/KillingThemSoftly/page1.php
