IBIS absence from GH5s was also explained as solution for protecting most demanding professional customers from image defects.
Of course, most demanding professional customers immediately recognized and wholeheartedly congratulated such deeply protection-motivated move.

Still on topic... This is a Mark II product. From a well-known camera manufacturer and Resolve provider, amongst other goodies.
Far away to be any introductory technology based on crowdfunding. Well, unless we have to call the mainstream RED the same... ;-)

Unless you include the BMPCC.  I agree with @funkyou86, the GH5S is what the GH5 should have been.  Panasonic should have some sort of trade-in program.  I understand that Sony comes out with new models every day, but my sense is Panasonic users are younger professionals who make some money with their equipment, but can't afford to keep upgrading.   Without internal 10bit, or RAW, I can't see why I would get one over even a first-gen Sony A7S.  I certainly won't buy a $2,500 GH5S to replace my used $1,500 C100!  The next step up from the GH5S is the EVA1, a $7,000 camera.  And like Anonim just said, the BM maybe come up with a BMPCC with 4K and improved AF, etc.
Finally, DPReview shot most of that footage, in low DR scenes, in VLOG and SLOG2 for Sony.  Yeah, LOG gammas really bring out the best color in a camera!   We live in a world of LOG shooting gamma diarrhea.

Well, I am a "long time" panasonic user and I feel like they totally shit my mind...
They pulled out the GH5 early just to respond to the markets voice and the hype, but all the GH5S features should be included in the GH5. What was panasonics intention with this move? I will not sell my GH5 just to have the money for the GH5S. Screw you panasonic! I hope A7S III will come soon, than I trade my GH5...

While there may be times that is an issue, I can not remember any time that really was an issue for me.
I think some focal lengths will favour smaller sensors and other larger ones.
FF wide angle lenses  can have infinite DOF pretty quick too.      Often the difference is shutter speed too rather than ISO (using auto ISO and A, S or M modes).
This seems like a wonderful camera though and while maybe not a replacement for a A7sii in really low light, it certainly negates the smaller sensor size at the ISOs most people use most cameras at.
Part of the beauty of the A7s is that I can use any lens at any aperture (including fast and slow) and I shoot a lot at high ISOs.    That wont change with this new camera but if I was after a camera that was AS capable as decent "normal" FF cameras or any APSC camera, I wouldn't be worried about smaller sensor size now.
This will be a far better video camera than the original A7s except for full HD at the highest ISOs though.       The A7sii might be a different matter for me.
For stills I will take the A7s still any day (even if I could afford this new camera.
It is a game changer though.

Quote from the video comparison with the a7S:

I've been saying this for a long time that is the downside of the a7S, what good is insanely lowlight if your shallow DoF is impractical??

With the GH5S you can shoot both in low light *and* a DoF that makes sense for the shot.

I just rigged my EVA1 up with my Kowa BH (in a Rectilux housing) using my Leica Summicron 35, 50 and 90mm set as taking lenses, and it is awesome. Was also happy to note that i can get away with a 35mm taking lens without vignetting given the fact that I'm doing a 2.39:1 center extraction.
Received mine 10 days ago. I honestly thought I'd be posting a bunch of footage with it, but the truth is, I'm having so much fun with it that I haven't had any spare time for uploading to vimeo. Hopefully soon, during the holidays. But broad strokes for me is this is a fantastic cinema camera. the two most important factors for me are color rendition and dynamic range and this excels at both. here are some quick pics from the day I received it, all rigged up and stripped down to almost nothing.

Isnt too old anaolgy to sell camera for this generation.
[Here's the thing: A builder needs drills and saws and hammers. A painter needs a canvas and paint brushes and paints and paint tools. A cameraman (usually) needs a camera. If it's a hobby for you, you use what you can afford. The expensive cameras on the market are not aimed at hobbyists for the exact reason that hobbyists cannot afford $10k for a camera body.]

The Samsung NX1 is at this moment in time the best value for money 4K Super 35mm camera with the best ergonomics and autofocus.
I still end up using my NX1 more than my Sony A6500 and Fuji X-T20, which pale into insignificance vs what Samsung did nearly 3 years ago.
Now the NX-L speed booster has developed further since my last article and I've been shooting a lot more with it.

Meh. I think Panasonic simply decided it was more sensible to let people choose their own viewfinder, rather than ship one which might not work for everyone (but everyone would need to pay for, via a higher price).

EVA1 will allow external raw with a future firmware update. The low light sensitivity beats Blackmagic and the GH5 hands-down. And probably will match or better the C200 for low light.
As for everything else, paper specs mean little. The Alexa doesn't even have a 4K sensor and shoots ProRes for the most part. On paper, RED should beat it in every quantifiable spec. But it doesn't.

I need on board RAW[some form of] and Autofocus and great low light sensitivity. Eva cant offer anything what i need. So please dont get angry over a pice of plastic box.
Its ok EVA can have Great 8bit codec for slowmotion and no viewfinder, crop slowmotion, Can justify all that money. good for you, good for panasonic. Its my personal opinion also i have done several projects on Varicam 35,Pure And LT.

    Testing 200 Mbps 4K 60P on the Yi 4K+
I set the bitrate at 200 Mbps and shot for 1.25 hours, resulting in 47 GB's of video clips. The temperature was 76 F, with direct sunlight. No overheating, no frames dropped. Perfectly normal, except for somewhat higher battery draw, but I had still had 33% left when I stopped.
This "hack" does not alter the firmware, it just loads the settings in memory. Doing that does not invalidate the warranty, and is easy to install.
Does 200 Mbps make a difference compared with the default of 135 Mbps (a 50% increase)? Who knows; but it does not hurt!

Yes, sharpness absolutely can be quantified.  Image quality is a vague term that doesn't really mean anything from person to person.
