  1. The camera is not out yet and I haven't seen a single youtube review of its green-screen work. If you want to make youtube (green-screen) videos yourself then you don't need 10bit for that either. 4k helps though.
  2. Just adding a note to say I've been trying it out on the RX100V and well done Andrew because it totally rocks. Really gorgeous.
  3. This is more a discussion of shooting with them. Try starting a new topic. The download link is, as far as I know, an automated process so that means either you typed in the wrong email address or your junk email settings are up the spout.
  4. I watched some of her other videos/songs and can't say I'm impressed with her other work. Most seem rather flippant love songs promoting hard drug use on the beach. And apparently she is trying sedition via witchcraft. Messed up chick.
  5. It has that sound too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UaIBiTSJjo
  6. They refrained from adding light spill, dust, and frame errors though which is nice. Nails the vintage colour look.
  7. That does seem a somewhat situational argument, but then we're rather lucky to have a fairly nation wide company filled with brainy asians who are mad crazy to try and help if anything goes wrong. It certainly is worth having that backup. I just don't get the fascination with having to use a laptop for editing (pc or mac) .. or a laptop put in a slightly bigger fancy shaped case.
  8. Mmm, gx85 not weather sealed. So mind it doesn't get wet or go through sudden temperature change. Keep in the bag while going inside or outside and let change temp slowly.
  9. There's a trick to panning with 5 axis IBIS cameras - you have to learn how the device behaves under different kinds of movement, ie. you can't just pan any old way and expect it to work. This is because, among other things, the IBIS is trying to keep the image still, while you're trying to move it. Plus some lenses are better at it than others. So a super slow or fast pan might not work as well as one that gets the speed just right for the camera to work out that it should release and re-grab at the right points. I think of it like stuttering. If you know what you're going to say before you say it you decrease stuttering a lot. As for the pistol grip, I keep seeing them put out improved models. Great advances in that area at the moment.
  10. On the various TV's we have around the 16-235 looks grey'd out but the 0-255 looks great, especially on a new 4k tv. The bit before standing in front of the bookcase looks better at 16-235 though. The first image on video is the scopes for 0-255 which certainly looks like something's been crushed a bit which means it won't come back completely from my tweak. So, yeah, depends on what I'm viewing it on with what player. A lot of stuff is going on in that 0-20 area so it makes a big difference for this video.
  11. I use one on the 12-35 panny lens. I set the lens to F2.8 (wide open), the camera to shutter priority at 1/50s (as I'm shooting at 25fps), then rotate the variable until I get the 100% zebras at a point I'm happy with, ie. a few small highlights in the sky but mostly clear. There's usually an obvious point that it needs to be at. Works the same on my 25mm 1.4. The only problem that sometimes arises is in particularly bright light, the variable ND can cross hatch at darkest setting, so you have to pull back a tad from that.
  12. Still can't work out why youtube in Chrome makes the blacks so crushed when VLC and Premiere display the 0-255 file without problems in the 16-235 space. And if you fix it to 16-235 then it can look washed out if those other programs are trying to display full range. So which do you aim for? This file as it is, is absolutely amazing to view, just not on youtube. Here's a recompress to 16-235
  13. Sure looks like some kind of NR added. idynamic and iresolution maxed? The high iso with neat video looks like neat video has not been applied correctly - it's pulsing in and out. Makes it worse than not having it.
  14. I'm pretty sure that understanding is incorrect. The polling rate is not the same as the recorded fps.
  15. The noise is either from the profile used or the sensor directly. Not sure what post work Grif did but it does stand out. That's not really a criticism of DPR, but the camera. As is shaky cam. I would have thought the ibis would have had that more under control. So both my points were said in relationship to the camera not DPR.
  16. Looks very noisy and shaky. So much jitter.
  17. And a couple of those shots are 8 bit. Really does behave itself a lot better than GH4 material.
  18. Can you guys test the released and downloadable vlog sample files in 10bit and 8 bit please? I've played with them but I'm sure professionals like you guys would be able to make deeper observations.
  19. The 25 1.4 is absolutely my favourite lens for video. It has a special character and warmth. I have never noticed AF noise with the lens. With the IBIS on newer bodies it will be even better as the lack of stabilisation was the only thing making it more difficult to use with the GH4. Super wide I just use the Rokinon 7.5 fisheye and defish to 1080.
  20. Levi used neat video on those bits. But a great video, everyone should have a look.
  21. and a datacolor spyder for calibration - particularly if you have another screen as program monitor
