  1. So about iphondo and his ibis comparison.... :D :D :D
  2. I think the sony version of the eoshd colour profile nails it. Love shooting video with it now. Just the shaky picture and overheating make longer stories hard.
  3. You are correct. I had set them to 100 but somehow both 1 and 2 are now set to 80 for vlog. At 80 the Zebras exactly follow what the waveform display does, showing clipping at the same time. Zebras are way easier to see. While it is easy to clip the highlights in normal lighting you have to realllllly underexpose to get anywhere near the other end.
  4. The inside shots were the same as one of my interior photos the other day. A strange plasticy look to skin tone. I turned off noise reduction and intelligent res and DR afterwards and seems to have fixed it. Contrast AF through an ND filter using vlog is impossible. Once I get a handle on the autofocus rack thing I think that will sort things.
  5. Actually I should say afc in photo mode is great. Daniel Cox just finishing a big test on it.
  6. I'd add - When you have things at default, the sonys make afc look much better. Panasonic needs to center weight as the default! - Try using 1-area af. Panasonic should probably label this as VIDEO FOCUS and have it as default or something for video shooting. That's if their AFC implementation of all the other settings are going to stay as flaky. - AFC is mostly flaky in most other settings. This will need firmware support. Why? Because the problem isn't with the hardware. Photos use AF and the GH5 is probably the fastest on the planet. AFC is the camera knowing when to make changes. Saying the AF is bad is missing the point about AFC. A lot of the discussions on youtube conflate afc into af inaccurately. - Matt is put down a bit by the commenters. But as I said above, the AF is extremely fast and matt was saying the truth. If you take photos you can see how fast it is. So the trouble is somewhere else in the afc process. At 3:29 iphondo says clearly that the AFS is extremely fast! It is faster for photos and videos. MUCH faster. But the AFC problems are not about speed. - A mistake is at 16:28 where the text of the instruction book is misunderstood. Granted the translation is not the best. It is actually just stating that with the two adjustments you can make to the af settings you can actually get them fighting each other if set to extremes in certain environments. It is not saying the AF is bad. iphondo makes this the reason for sending the camera back which is a bit silly. - Agree on the battery life, got myself a couple more batteries for 5 now. - And with regards to the stabilisation, 1) the x3000 uses the best floating lens-sensor on the market. Put ANY camera up against that please. 2) Weird looking sway for sure. I don't have the 12-35 but I'll try the same camera combo tomorrow. Fun! Hopefully I'll have the camera focussed correctly not at 30cm like in the video. Also going to compare the GX85 at some point.
  7. Me too, I was just a couple of days ahead Not sure why they put that option on the GH4 anyway. Maybe to stop the sensor being charged with no lens attached? Seemed unnecessary really.
  8. Answered twice already! :O Todays effort was according to the histogram and https://vimeo.com/212536737 there's clipped highlights there and although you'd actually expect them to be it's still kind of annoying. I had better results I think the other day when exposing for the sky and boosting the shadow slider. At 400 iso I didn't get any noise from doing that at all. So I'm thinking half to one stop under but watch what the zebras are doing (which I didn't today).
  9. Have the RX100v and it's brilliant but really not matching the situation outlined. In hot conditions really not the story for narrative (ha) with the battery life and overheating (can only shoot 5min then has to cool for 20-30 minutes - and that's in cool weather) and extending lens to trap moisture and sand. Panasonic G85 is weather sealed. Still fairly small and light. IBIS! No problems with over heating. Get the 25mm 1.7 at least and you're good to go.
  10. Shot some people walking for you at 24 fps, 180 shutter. Forgot about ibis. Forgot about panning. Sigh.
  11. I don't think overheating will be the limiting factor in recording. Yea electronic shutter with that fancy rolling shutter correction if you want to pull a photo. You mean the strobing from fluros? That's with any camera. I have not played around with the flicker decrease function yet. But I did find a fluro in my house that is horrrendous.
  12. The manual suggests over 3 hours non-stop. Have you tested the file? Doesn't play natively in Premiere without recoding.
  13. If you're not using the pre-burst 6k mode then every focus mode works.
  14. Ermm, I think AFF would be off and the point focus (edit: but just when using pre-burst). Rest works. Was using AFC for it before. It is a photo mode after all.
  15. Oh, the other one is 5184x3456 4992 x 3744 in 4:3 5184 x 3456 in 3:2 Incidentally, 4k and c4k at 24fps have the same lateral field of view. C4k does not get a wider fov like it does on the GH4. 4096 x 2160 in C4K 3840 x 2160 in UHD
  16. Here is that clip after going through handbreak, lossless 265. This one works in Premiere https://www.dropbox.com/s/i5326ttqz3zsckk/nz_flowers_6kphoto_gh5b_converted.mp4?dl=0 4992x3744. I don't think I'm going to test the overheating thing. And it doesn't say a warning will pop up, it just says on the pre-burst screen that it will stop preburst recording and default to burst mode. It says nothing on the start/stop mode.
  17. No, just 6K in terms of pixels not dimension. Includes sound. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7sdd1lv4tp5axyl/PGH54548.MP4?dl=0
  18. ermmm... unlimited? There is some indication that overheating might eventually show up and it will revert to burst mode. It would take a long time or sitting it in direct sunlight to manage I think.
  19. I think you mean "1-Area"? That's the one that works for me. You can change the size of it and location. Yeah being succinct takes a lot of work without the payoff of screen time. It's also hard to make a video without mistakes. So maybe people give up on both and end up watching Stronz for the nice voice.
  20. Handbreak; Legacy, High Profile. The H265 encode works pretty well. 6Kphoto is stuck on 30fps so not so helpful as a pretend anamorphic mode until the real one turns up.
  21. Woah, that's funky. Lots of green! Can see a picture through the green (just) if using S/S. Also I think S/S is the only one where audio is recorded.
  22. Again, he did not demonstrate the flicker reduction that the video should have been about. Perhaps we should do one?
  23. Acted like what? There is a solution to the scan lines but despite the heady promise of the video title they didn't show it. I'm not sure what Matt was thinking on this one, heh.
  24. The solution from panasonic shown here?... don't use silent mode for pictures lolol What camera are you importing h265 from?
