Apparently the same --- 25% of the color information available*. But I don't take those numbers as accurate: 3:1:1 is a middle way towards the 4:2:2 from 40% ratio instead.
HDCAM 3:1:1 format is actually 75% from horizontally 1920 pixels (so 1440) and a third chroma sampled (480 for a quarter of 1920), but it is full vertical resolution (1080) rather than a half for 4:2:0 on chroma side, even though with chroma subsampling going with half from full horizontal HD (aka 1920), so here you have for your maths now ;-)

Looks like I've come back to the forum at the right time.
Is this offer still on as I quite fancy a GH5s. Do I just mail in the receipt or what?

This is not about inexpensive, high quality prosumer cameras for everyone.
Nor is it about Foxconn getting into the camera game.
What this is really about is RED getting into the expensive (read 8K video) telephone business.
All the rest is hype and BS.
 

Over the course of several years that I've been following Kinefinity and owning the KineMini I've found that there is a certain group that has a negative bias towards the company and try to pick apart every little detail that they don't do right. It's like Trump supporters still moaning about Hillary's emails.
Yes, I've been critical of many of their choices and many times I considered moving to a different brand. Now I have a Terra 4K being delivered any day. Why? Because it is perfect for ME and MY line of work.
But whatever. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

Why would I assume?
 Because PB has stated at the beginning of videos that there are exceptions where he will take pay to promote a product. Do you really think he worked the Kinefinity booth for two days for free?
 

Yeah but the damn thing is just like Red. You Have to buy their backs, their Grip, you are going to buy their 5" monitor, they probably have a in house tripod base for it, on and on. It is that stuff that cost damn near as much as the camera body. Then down the road they will come out with their own Media just like Red did, saying off the shelf stuff is not reliable in their cameras.
The grip to me is just plain stupid. It won't rotate when you want it to, and the damn thing has 3 tiny ass screws that hold it on. Who the hell thought that idea up??? Yeah it has a great output, but like any new company you are a test dummy for them, and you have to hope they are around 3 years for now. AJA Cion is a great example of , Christ I am glad I didn't buy into them  years ago, and I Almost Did! They have shit around, shit around, and it still looks like shit.
But it is definitely tempting I can say that. I would imagine it has as good of chance as any of them. But down the road I think even Arri will have a 5, 6 thousand dollar camera on the market. They will have to to compete with Panasonic, Sony on their Mirrorless by them. Hell maybe even Canon with their new Mirrorless will wake up by then. The days of these 80k dollar cameras are coming to an end. Think of a GH6s with 12 bit and Raw, throw a Speed Booster on it, game over.
 

I'd have been really excited by this announcement last year but my X-T2 experiment has by and large wound down now in terms of it being a viable complete replacement system for my stills work so I'm probably about to walk out of the same door as a lot of people will be walking in with regard to Fuji.
And I think this will get a lot more people through their door to be honest.
Curious to know whether they'll do an X-H10 version a few months down the track in the X-T1/X-T2 to X-T10/X-T20 tradition.
That one would probably get me back in.
 

The story doesn’t really pass the smell test in terms of turning into reality. Red is a company that sells an oversized smartphone for us$1600 and oversized ssds at us$5/gb (which is 10 times the going rate.)

I believe the fact Jim and Jarred are very silent on this one means your bet on high-end to fall down face to face with GH series 10-bit and other goodies to come and already here seems much more pretty accurate for sooner than we tend to think, hey Don @webrunner5 ? ;-)

I seem to remember this guy has a pretty good track record in terms of predictions...
More to the point, I like what he is saying about the Mavic Pro ii, so I am happy to believe him.
Basically a P4P camera in a Mavic (slightly heavier and more expensive.)
Sounds great in my opinion.
Actually the Mavic Pro is pretty much perfect for me apart from the camera (by which I mean sensor.) Easily the best toy I have bought since the original iphone.

I have met a few Chinese students back at Uni, and I did a couple of documentaries with Chinese, They have a different approach than us! Total respect to their attitude and nation. 
It seems like he has a DJI connection, maybe not employee per se, but definitely he is close to the company.
@Robert CollinsI like what he is saying about the Mavic Pro II, too! I hold my horses for a couple of years now. The Mavic Pro form factor is just brilliant, but the camera is not. I hope this year we will have it all. 1" camera and the smaller form factor.

I think from what I have seen the GH5s does seem would I would call having a Sony A7s look to it. The original one. A more gnarly, grungy look than the GH5. I think it is a whole different look, which is not surprising that it is a whole new sensor, and has less MP's. I like the color science of it. I think is has great potential. And being 10 bit I don't see how it can be ignored for serious work.
Yeah a 1DC and a Canon Kiss comes to mind.

The funny is the fact the parade doesn't end there at 10,000 lumens... Take a look on this example here:
And the utmost is when the 10,000 lumens theory proves to be the spot number. If not, the difference from 10,000 to 20,000 should duplicate the impact. It simply doesn't at all. Interesting to say the least. @zerocool22 you got a home run here, pal (E :-)

Why the hate on 10000 lumens? Its a fair and simple questin though. Not sure why it called for pun.

I wish they added 4K60, but yeah, probably not gonna happen. I also wish for 10bit, internally or externally. I'm shooting F-Log with the X-T2 and with 8bit it leaves some to be desired. And I'm not sure if it's just my X-T2 or a general issue, but the camera gets hot relatively fast when you use HDMI out. And thermal noise appears after a few minutes at ISO 6400 and above, which you won't see when you only record internally. Oh and it would be great to have waveforms or rgb parade in video mode. And adjustable zebras.
