Emanuel reacted to Andrew Reid in Sony A6500 movie and photo samples are coming in
As soon as the first 4K camera came on the market that interested me, the GH4, I stopped caring about sharpness any more.
We have more detail than anybody can possibly notice when watching the film.
Sharpness has become a pixel peeping tech spec curiosity rather than a really noticeable differentiator as it was with the 1080p cams.
In fact too much sharpness is bad... high detail should be softer like on the 1D C in Canon LOG, with the option to dial it up with a sharpness filter in post.
Yes there are still minor differences - some like the Samsung NX1 and A6500 over-sample from 6K sensors to 4K. Some from 5K-ish to 4K like the A7R II Super 35mm mode and X-T2.
But seriously nobody notices when they see your footage.

Nobody is happy. As per usual. If people can't make a film with the A6500, they couldn't make it with anything.

Funny to say once we're unable to yet order the version 1 now but actually, Mavic Pro 2 will :-)

Indeed. Well, it seems 1600 will compete with the GH5...

Emanuel reacted to Parker in Inspire 2 / 5.2K raw / 4K60FPS
Wow... The new Phantom 4 pro is looking very sweet as well! Really makes me wish they'd introduced a regular Mavic though, and then had the Mavic Pro version have all the cool extra features like higher bitrate, variable aperture, mechanical/global shutter thing (amazing!!) and the better flight sensors. Also 4k 60P! This is just making my choice even harder.
On a side note: Wow I can't even imagine how much DJI execs must have been laughing at poor GoPro's karma launch, even without the recall. DJI is absolutely killing it.
Exciting times, people!

Now we are talking.
inspire 2 announced with 5.2K raw and 4K60fps raw. H265 is here too. And they will have a new kind of Osmo for it.
In 1" or 4/3 format. You pick.
Isnt it funny that the best specced cameras on the market are released by a drone company without video experience? VS jokers like canon who will release 4K60fps raw and H265 in a camera of the size of a GoPro in maybe ..... we'll never.

Don't take that literally, just understand the idea behind it. He clearly meant women need to be treated with respect

Emanuel reacted to conurus in Panasonic GX85 IBIS using Metabones Speed Booster
@Chris Oh - As of the current version, only the Sigma 50-100/1.8 has an IBIS issue (and pardon me for repeating that this, too, will be fixed in a matter of days).
But owing to just this one lens, Andrew was compelled to downgrade to firmware 0.5 from more than 2 years ago. Back then the firmware did not manage OIS/IBIS interaction. In his tests using old firmware, both OIS and IBIS turned on and cancelled out each other. Actually if he had manually turned one of OIS/IBIS off, the old version would still have worked fine.
Andrew found our firmware from 2 years ago to be unsatisfactory, which I concur (although back then we could not have anticipated the GX85). I personally would say that except for that one lens, the Sigma 50-100/1.8, the current firmware is working, and it is doing what Panasonic's own Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds adapter (DMW-MA1) would have done. The next version, 2.5, which will be launched soon, will be great, and will have the flexibility of OIS/IBIS selection by the end-user.

I work for Metabones and let me confirm that this is indeed a firmware bug as well as to apologize to you for the inconvenience. This problem is that IBIS is OFF and you cannot turn it on with the camera's menus. It occurs with only one lens, the Sigma 50-100/1.8 DC HSM Art. A firmware fix will be published in a matter of days.
I acknowledged this problem on eoshd at the beginning of the month and promised that a fix was on the way, but I suppose my comment might have been taken out of context. It certainly was NOT a blanket "GX85 IBIS didn't work with Metabones". (Link to my previous comment below.)
There is not much else to say, except that the fix will be here soon, and we will have the ability to select between OIS and IBIS (something that even Panasonic's own lenses do not support, for example if you have an old Leica 14-50/2.8-3.5 in SLR Four Thirds mount.)

The new firmware (2.5) is out, and this is the firmware specifically crafted for GX80/85. Hopefully this addresses all the image-stabilization-related problems you might have. I would like to point you to the image stabilization documentation page. You may download it by clicking on 'SUPPORT/DOWNLOAD" near the top.

Everyday more clips pop up everywhere. I guess this will be one of the hits in the history of the camera. Take those "unbelievable" remarks with the necessary pint of salt, obviously... : )
Another low light test:
To those who still praise action cameras look ; ) beyond the obvious limitations also shown by Mavic, here's some chance to compare both:

Indeed, curious the fact in the last couple of months, there are more reviews involving GoPro cameras but, I see no review on Mavic Pro:

In any case, there was one Mavic unit for this Karma review. He seems to have forgotten to review the new DJI bird :-)

There are millions behind the sales air race, that's the reason why. Pity that both sides don't choose to release a better and higher bitrate codec...
