Pretty interesting that so many thought a cheap entry level camera would be more featured than the more expensive mid tier.

Nikon Z is underrated... It has a lot more to offer & curios about the coming firmware update and other z's like z5 or 9...  Imagine the shitstorm if Nikon had 4K crop!

I used the EOS R for 4 days and loved everything about it except no 4k FF. I think I might have bought it if that feature existed on this camera. Here’s a couple of stills i shot w/ it.

I couldn't agree more. The emphasis on expensive equipment and expensive cast and crew is stubbornly stupid. Plus writers in most jurisdictions aren't paid enough and plagiarists aren't punished enough.
If VoD platforms kept a fund for 100 Feature Films under 100k, and ensured that the stories were great, they wouldn't have to think of most of the rubbish. The problem is VoD platforms have not been able to separate themselves from the over budget Hollywood rubbish they are attempting to replace.
Suddenly there are so many VoD platforms that no one player is probably making enough. And until they improve their content and budget better, they don't deserve to.

This business is unsustainable because of ridiculously high production costs, it doesn't matter which one of big names is supporting the ecosystem.

60p is only external. So if you're Sony user, you better wait for A7S3.

I don't care it will sell or not.. I'm sure it will put pressure on big three, especially Sony, and that's the only thing matters.

Just a quick update, as I've just come back from 3 days of winter camping in the mountains, and I want to share my short experience concerning battery life.
So, during 3 days with just below 0°C temperatures, I shot mainly short video sequences (around 30s) from dawn to dusk, milky way photography one night, some landscape photo in the morning and in the evening, and a lot of image reviewing. The camera stayed outside with the battery still inside it (I usually remove the battery from the camera in winter, and take it inside my sleeping bag, but not this time).
Right now, I'm reviewing all the material, and the battery indicator displays  3 remaining bars out of 5. I'm quite satisfied... with my Fujis, I would have used 3 batteries ! As usual, there is quite a gap between internets myths and real life experience !

People don't throw away their perfectly fine 4k TV to get new 8k one, if there is no visible benefit. And the problem with 8k is that you need 100 inch TV to see its 4x-more-than-4k pixels. In 55 inch and at typical distance its completely meaningless.

Why? You can get all these bitrates with h.265.
Anyway, how on earth anyone can compare efficiency without any info about PSNR and visual quality?

Here is a quick test with some heavy grading on the internal 8 bit footage. Lens cap test at about half way through. I didn’t have time to hook up the Ninja V, will do that test tomorrow. Enjoy!

Its exactly the opposite, brother. Gain actually decreases the noise. Lack of light increases that.

Microphones are not like a telephoto lens such as a 200mm would be.
Thus I suspect you're looking in the wrong places here in imagining what you think you want.
Is this a seated staged interview? What kind of interviews are these? Indoors? Outdoors?

Quite possibly the best way to get acceptable audio here while a solo shooter is (however the best step is to first not be a solo shooter! & have a soundie) to have a C stand with Boom Buddy for the boom pole to position the mic just half an inch above the frame line. (an example of a very low budget recorder and mic to consider if doing these outdoors would be the Zoom F8n + Deity S-Mic 2 Shotgun with a blimp)

As the three most important rules of thumb for audio is:
    Location! Location! Location!
(the location of your mic that is)

Next most important tip to consider: your location again! (but in the sense of what is your shooting environment? As if you can improve it any form then that will lead to better audio too)

Japan just wants to sell electronic goodies. It's not representative of what consumers want. If anything, the consumer electronics market is now lead by the US and China.
BS8K pretty much sums it up for me. BS!

Hooray!  After people started getting their Pocket 4K cameras we only had the Panny S1 to argue about - now we can get excited about the inevitability of 8K vs Sonys ability to quadruple the data rates and not have the camera actually melt!
With Japan gearing up for the 2020 Olympics to be broadcast in 8K there is only ~20 months before an entire 8K distribution network (including something like 1000 8K cameras) must be in place, having been constructed, tested, and bug fixed.  You'd be mad if you think that Japan will let themselves fail to deliver a technological feat like this while the entire world is watching, Moores law be damned.
So, if we're going to have an entirely functional 8K capture, processing, distribution, and consumption network in place in less than two years for the worlds most watched event, then exactly when do you think the tech will be made possible?  The day before?

16bit is ordered by marketing department. Even 14bit is only useful at base ISO, beyond that you only waste the extra bit with noise.

I was pretty busy yesterday with other things. But I did have a brief play with the Z6 in as fairly dark room. I took pictures at 6400 ISO. They came out really clean.  I have a feeling this cameras is going to live up to the hype regarding low light performance.
Some notes: the camera feels light. It's clearly well made,  but not heavy.  The only lens I've attached so far is the 24-70mm native lens... I like it.  I love the size.  I mostly shot with the Canon yesterday as the Nikon was charging. The Nikon feels like a feather next to the 1DXMk2. As we bought the Nikon to be a go everywhere camera, the small and light combination checks a lot of boxes for us. I usually associate light weight with poor build quality... in most products. But this is strangely not the case with the Nikon. The camera is solid and of high quality. Holding it you feel confident that it will not let you down.  I can report that I do like the ergonomics, but I do miss the battery grip with shutter button. We always opt for a battery grip on our cameras. Nikon missed out on some tidy profits by omitting this option with the Z6/7.
I suspect I will miss the portrait tilt of the X-T3. Who knew that was a thing? But once you've had a screen with portrait tilt, it's something you realize is pretty handy. I don't miss the flip out screen of the GH cameras. I always use an external monitor or recorder when shooting video anyway.
Single card slot is a non issue for me. Menus... I like the menus... they seem really easy to navigate. The learning curve is not too steep if you are familiar with modern cameras.
It's a very different camera than the X-T3 and Canon in feel and handling and vibe. It beats the GH5/S in hand. Overall, I would say it reminds me most of the Sony... if the Sony was more refined.
I plan to do some shooting with the Z today. I need to understand how it compares to the Canons... both the 1DXMk2 and C200. I want to know how easy it is to match the footage with the Canons... the C200 in particular. I know the C200 can be made to look like the Nikon... RawLite has a lot of depth. But can NLog bend to look like the C200 without breaking?
A word about the EOS R... that was the camera we wanted to purchase. The cats out of the bag.  I'm confident it would have matched perfectly to the C200. But Canon just had to pull a Canon. Cropping the 4k video to essentially m43... but without the ability to offset the extreme crop with a speedbooster. Hey Canon, Nikon and Fuji send their regards. With that out of the way,  I REALLY want to love this camera. It's off to a good start, I'll know more soon.
