Finally I was able to shoot a quick test with the Bolex, not much to see here, just me terrorising my mates with a camera:

I will leave a bit of a "test log" here for future reference:

On the BMPCC I am able to go 22mm and I have a feeling it might work with 21mm lenses too, depending how close you can get to the front glass when attaching the Bolex. At 22mm I have no hard vignetting, that is without cropping from 2.66:1.
With a 0.58x Speed Booster my Mir 1B 37mm is vignette-free, and the original 0.71x Speed Booster is good to go from 30mm. Obviously cropping to 2.40:1 would give me many more choices.
The Bolex is sharp. Like very.. very sharp. Basically it all comes down to the taking lens behind it, if that looks good wide-open then it will look just as good with the Bolex screwed on the front. If the taking lens performs like a rotten cabbage then the same can be expected with the Anamorphot.
Unlike others the Bolex was actually intended to be a taking lens and it can focus down to roughly 0.7m without diopters. It has a perfectly usable 62mm front thread as well. In this video I had a Tiffen Black Satin 1 + Hoya UV and IR Cut + Genustech Eclipse Variable ND on the front, these were all 77mm and caused no extra vignetting with the Mir 1B. Some of the vignetting you see here was actually added in post.

Idk, if I were a GH5 owner I think I'd be pretty damn happy right now... by the end of August's FW update, for more than half the price, you're getting the same 400mbps 10bit with 5-axis IBIS.

Man, I suffer in silence when I read some stuff here (I guess I'm masochist to keep reading it). But this one is too much for me... On what ground do you think it should cost 2,500$ ? Please tell me. Do you know a video camera costing that price and doing this ? And don't tell me blackmagic please (fan of the brand, but their cameras aren't in the same price range and they are way less reliable and easy to use, and no autofocus, no support) Do you know  a pro 1/3 sensor camcorder costs more than 2500$ (Sony, Canon) ?. It might not be the camera for you, that I totally understand but with all due respect, I think your comment is from a spoiled naive non pro shooter who doesn't know the requirements of pro work and on being on the field with reliable equipment.
People always complain, at some point it's just ridiculous. They want new technology right away, but when Sony releases a new camera too soon, they think theirs just became obsolete and hate Sony for it. In the mean time they blame Canon for holding off. And now they unleash something very unexpected from them, still complaints. Same goes for bitrates. Canon files take too much space, now they want that kind of bitrates in their gh5, and they're suddenly ok with the file size. And all that to end up posting videos on Youtube (which is not a bad thing but just all those concerns are irrelevant for that type of delivery).
Anyway, this camera seems to be freaking great. Canon used to deliver not on specs but on the field and with the image quality/mojo. Now this one also has the specs ! Granted an intermediate codec is more than necessary for a camera at this price point, but it will come down the line anyway.
Pffiou, sorry I had to get it out of my chest  Now I can burn in hell !

Some House of Cards crew, and star Robin Wright, made a six minute short film, set in one location, shot in two days. I guess the crew volunteered their time and resources. And they still ended up crowdfunding $50,000 to make it happen. So just a bunch of millionaires not willing to put a cent of their own into a film they call a "passion project". From the stills I've seen, I have no idea where $50,000 would have gone. And it sounded like they got accepted to CANNES before they were even finished. For Wright's directorial debut. Just because it looked pretty and had a big name. (My source was an interview on Colbert, if you want to look it up, sorry for not posting it here)
How is that okay? And how far back in time to you have to go to see Sundance and Cannes as the home of brilliant films that don't fit Hollywood's bill? (Sundance appeared to be a mess this year too. Apparently Nick Offerman and Kristen Stewart are the great talents of our generation)
Let me know if I'm just being a dick, but wow

I think you should have labelled up each shot saying what lens was used etc so people get a constant reminder that they are actually watching a test. Text on the black letterbox so it still doesn't ruin the pictures?
Also (and now this is absolutely subjective and probably easy to suggest and harder to do..) I would have written a few events into the narrative to show the same scene/shot more than once but with different lenses. Like a character has a dejavu moment so he gets to see the same thing twice? Looks around then jumps back, rubs his eyes and sees it for the third time. This way you can make a comparision including all the lenses from the exact same POV and still have a narrative structure.
Or you got 3 guys at a poker game trying to recall the same story but they remember it differently so they keep interrupting each other with corrections. Each of them is basically a lens showing the same scene but as they keep going on and on about what happened we get to see the the act in a few alternative variations.
Rectilux as the handsome hunk, FM lens as the fat bastard and the Rangefinder as a hopeless barfly? Haha..

The highlights are definitely a huge win for the UM46K. @Cinegain you're right about the yellow/orange. I made it a point to not key out sections for adjustments. If I were to key I would fix those 2 warm lights in the back to be less green/yellow. Her face stays pretty neutral which is good. Overall I really like the GH5 though. I imagine it will even get better with the bitrate increase at 10 bit.
I should be able to upload the raw footage later if you guys want to test it out for yourself.

Yes there is a difference. I had a 16/32 and a moller 32 - one with great front optic one with great rear optic. I took it to a lens repair shop to see if the elements could be swapped to make one great lens and there were subtle differences in the optics. Also worth noting that the repair shop got hold of a couple of another 16/32s and went to undertake a swop from one of those and the element was a little different there as well. So not only are there differences between the 32 and 16/32 but not all 16/32s are alike...

Liszon reacted to actionfrank in YouTube demonetising videos deemed risqué as content creators begin to self-censor
I can't believe it took this long for advertisers to realize that it's risky to serve your ads up next to random, user generated content. Of course there are going to be awkward placements. Advertisers are very sensitive about associations with their brands. Glen Beck was fired from Fox News because he lost all his advertisers, and the same thing is happening to Bill O'Reilly night now. Tune into any number of popular Youtubers and they say stuff waaay more controversial than O'Reilly or Beck. No one should be surprised that Tide Dish Detergent doesn't want anything to do with Pew Die Pie. As an artist, he should be proud of that fact.
There's always been a direct relationship between how much of your business depends on advertising and how bland your content needs to be. Broadcast TV is 100% ad based. That's why it's all sports, bland sitcoms, and boring dramas with no curse words. Cable TV is half and half, so it can be a little more daring. Then there's HBO who's free to do whatever they want.
There are plenty of Youtube channels that fall into the mold of broadcast tv, family friendly content that Oreos or Pampers would be happy to sponsor. Dude Perfect is a great example. They get tons of advertisers because they do fun, super-clean videos. On the other hand, Pew Die Pie, who drops the f-bomb every 5 seconds is probably closer to the HBO end of the spectrum. An ad based model isn't gonna work for him.
The realities of advertising don't change because #DigitalMedia. The fact that Pew Die Pie was able to pull in millions of advertising dollars up to this point was a fluke. If you want to be #controversial, you can't rely on dish detergent companies to pay your bills.

Here's my take:  "Content" is its own word. "Filmmaker" is a different one.  The latter needn't concern themselves too much about the former.
I respect content creators for YouTube --as I don't have the motivation to do it, but "content" is not really art; it's not really filmmaking, is it?

That's the thing though. Guys like Bannon ARE engineering an invasion. The current administration wants a Christian vs Muslim war and they see it as divine destiny to win it.
It's going to be your armed forces, men and women, who die in this, in far greater numbers than those who have been killed by "terrorist" wannabes, which are actually incidents of crime and murder, rather than acts of war and terrorism as the media and government portray it as.
For example what happened in Berlin recently, was extremely tragic but the act of ONE SINGLE petty criminal murderer. Just because they have certain beliefs doesn't make them an army.
No it doesn't make you white supremacists.
It does make you a fearful paranoid bunch, unable to take responsibility for why people hate you.
When these terrorist nutcases speak about defeating Christians, they're not talking about Canada and Sweden.
Trump is making you a target.
I can understand the US culture of gun ownership, it comes from protecting isolated farms and houses from a hostile lawless wild-west society.
Those days are over if only you'd let go Tom!
Fox News constantly spins this propaganda about Europe.
There are not a million refugees on my street in Berlin or piling into bars in Manchester.
It just didn't happen that way.
99% of the people who came over just politely blend in and just want to get on with their lives and bring up their children, then return to their homes once the fighting stops and the country of origin is ready to rebuild.
Some will settle but that again is nothing new to Europe or the UK. The UK in particular has been a melting pot of nationalities for centuries. It gave us our best food, our best music, our best doctors and scientists. If only we could replace our lazy fat British chavs with refugees who actually have a work ethic, the economy would be even better.
Merkel made a mistake by not controlling or keeping track of who came in but that's the price you pay for true freedom. Under Trump you're not actually free, you're not actually safe, sadly it's just an illusion. Trump and Bannon talk-up their Christian values all the time. Merkel did it as a good Christian deed and she did save millions of lives... I don't see Fox News praising her Christian values, or the fact she's an ex-quantum physicist whereas Trump has issues spelling the word 'tap' correctly.
Yes, a few of the refugees who came in abused the situation and took advantage. A few more happened to do that and at the same time harbour mental illness. A few crimes occurred, as they do every day with people born here and raised here. Every single crime has been blown up in the media and put under the spotlight, because it's a foreign perpetrator. The media is heavily biased and has an agenda to get more clicks and sell more newspapers. That's how propaganda works. Look it up.
It's fine to reject the globalist agenda
    You'll be left behind though
Because it's a global world now, with the internet, out sourcing, mass production, consumerism and hugely beneficial trade links...
You may not like it but you can't buck the trend of world history just by stomping your feet like a child and voting for Trump.
It's not going to be rolled back long term over the next 200 years and next will come A.I., robots, and a whole other world order you can't do anything about...
Leave a good legacy for yourself and your family and work hard. Alternatively, be remembered as that sad guy who got caught up in the short-lived wave of hysteria and supported a joke-president who is an even smaller footnote in the history books.
    Oh the irony.
You have a 20th century European-style tyrant as your president and I assume you voted for him.
So if anyone hasn't learnt from that it's you.
LOL. This is Info-wars level batshit crazy.
The global economy has pulled millions of people our of poverty and put food on their tables. Sony have camera factories in Thailand.
Those factory jobs are NOT coming back to the rustbelt in the US.
Manchester in the UK did not get the factory jobs back either.
We adapted and went with a services based economy which is why there's now the BBC's second HQ there and a ton of film production studios.
Who wants the miserable factory jobs back any way?
We do have one thing in common - we both dislike political correctness.

Yeah I have seen the 4k ones going for 2500 bucks, maybe a bit less. Other than the BM Usra Mini, really the only 4k options in town in that price range. The FS700 has slo mo out the butt and low light ability to boot. It is a awkward turd to use, but for tripod work that is not a big deal. That is where the BM Ursa Mini would be  a lot better for run n gun stuff.
It is pretty amazing how few 4k pro type cameras there are to pick from used under 5k. And that is way out of most peoples range on here.  Canon C500, Sony FS5 is 5k price wise but damn, that is big money unless you are making big money with it.
I guess there is the JVC LS300 camera, seems not too bad, but not pro built that is for sure. But they are 2600 bucks new now on B&H. That is getting pretty cheap.

I love how my Helios 58mm looks like on full frame:

I shot with it on film my whole life and I would love to have the look back in motion. The 8bit and jello on the A7 line just doesn't cut it for me.
