The EOS-M is the camera that just keeps on giving. It was my first foray into ML Raw and I failed miserably with it. Soon after I tried my hand with the 50D and thought hmm. With the 5D3, I am a full convert and won’t even think of buying another camera until I see what happens with the 5D4 developments.

However, somewhere in the back of my closet, I still have my EOS-M, a few batteries and a slew of SD cards just waiting to be used. This could be a fun way to cure some Mid-Winter Blues. I look forward to your update, Andrew.

On another note, I almost bought your 5D Mark III 3.5K Raw guide a couple of hours ago, but I don’t know if I can go without a clean LiveView. Has there been any updates on that front?

Intriguing, @Andrew Reid.. quite intriguing.  I too, am interested.

@mercer, I felt the same way.  I haven't play/test it in a while - the camera was quite limiting until I snagged the Panny G7.  I'm revving the batteries and checking this one out.

Crazy how ebay sellers make more than double profit for selling BMPCC 4K cameras and people actually buy them almost instantly. We live in an impatient world.

I agree.  $2000+ for the camera, when you can actually (pre-)order it for $800 less?  Might as well get a Canon C100 or the Ursa and be done with it.  Like some others, not in no rush to get it.  Wait until all pre-orders are done for it to sell solid.  The camera itself is looking good so far.

Yeah the sigma 18-35 vingettes with a speedbooster if used on a GH5S or Blackmagic pocket 4k. The crop is 1.8 so with a speedbooster it goes down to 1.27 or 1.15 (depending on the speedbooster you get).

I was wondering the same thing.  I think with the .71 (I got the Viltrox EF-M2) doesn't vignette, but the Metabones .64 does.  Again, these are my figures.

Does Anyone shoot Anything in normal speeds anymore? Jesus what is the deal with trying to see if Anything is worth a crap on a camera at 120p Slo Mo. Sam Peckinpah is alive and well.

My feelings exactly.  The 60/120p slow-mo is cool and all, but what about the 24p, 30p?  How about showing what it offers in 1080p.  One can only hope.

tip to do it with embedded videos from vimeo LOL they embedded it on their webpage but they don't allow others to embed it from YT... these autocratic tics from a company like BMD are killing me : X

    download embedded videos on Chrome:
customize and control button on the right corner -> More tools -> Developer tools -> F+Ctrl -> mp4 -> select & copy -> word processor -> F+Ctrl = resolution chosen -> copy paste link -> click on right to save as wherever you want in your drive as you wish ; -)

    bookmarked.

    Added link in original post!

Here's a quick grade of the ProRes. Grades super smooth, as expected. Love how it handles details and highlights. This footage is like kindergarten level compared to grading the OG BMPCC's prores (meaning this is so smooth and easy). And I don't like adding sharpness (midtone details) or the like. All luma curve, some temp and tint change, and hue.

    Nice.  What lens(es) used?

Ok, so by reading here and BMC User, it seems that people really want to know what the audio is like. As there are no other videos around showing the audio qualities of the Pocket4k, thats what i'll focus on tonight.

Just so I'm not wasting my time, off the top of my head, here is how i'm gong to do the test...let me know if you think it could be done better but again, I'll only have an hour or so to do this tonight.

    1. Inbuilt mic with person reading, sitting about 4ft from camera to simulate general piece to camera or interview.

    2. Inbuilt mic with person reading about 4ft away but walking left to right of room to test how directional mic is (?).

    3. Same scenarios as 1 & 2 but using Rode Video Mic (Original) into minijack input and mounted on camera to compare scenarios 1, 2 &3.

    4. Rode NTG3 directly into Pocket4K using phantom power and placed about a foot from persons mouth.

    5. Rode NTG3 into Zoom F4 using phantom power and placed as per #4 to compare in built pre amp to Zoom F4.

I'll aim to record everything at around -12dbfs

I will try to upload the video to Youtube or Vimeo and also provide a high quality audio file available for download.

    Seem ok?

    Sounds good.

They're coming thick and fast now:

    'Sunset At Changi'

    Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
    ProRes 422, UHD 4K, 50FPS
ISO 100-200 (the magic hour silhouettes), 400-800 (blue hour), 1600-3200 (twilight and nightfall)
Canon FD 50mm f1.4 SSC lens

Awesome.  If that isn't "filmic", I don't know what is - at $1200+.

    Excellent clip by the way.

Well @Snuff that's awesome, I got the same one, too.  It's a very nice lens, maybe not the genuine f2.6/2.8, but just as good nevertheless.  It might be a dream to behold for the new P4K.
