Canon EOS R5C
In: Cameras
From that announcement it look like they have quite a few feature updates planned for R5C, this is just the beginning!
Will Canon pull ahead vs other brand in terms of firmware update this year as they have released all the mirrorless camera they want to release this year, all that left is using firmware update to expand the feature even more.

The Canon RF 16mm 2.8 and RF 50mm 1.8 can be had for cheaper than a single Sigma, how time have changed.
I wonder how they fare vs Samyang's offering

Enhanced clear scan vs LED wall is pretty huge for event or virtual production.
The amount of time I have to trial and error is ridiculous on some events.

Seems like there will be 2 more feature firmware coming to R5. I hope one of them is 30min removal.

These companies want brand loyalty without giving it back in return.
It's pretty much the same for all other companies like mobile provider, power companies, bank etc try to lure new user with amazing deals while existing customer base they dont give a frak.
In terms of income of course new product will give company more revenue vs firmware update which wont get company new revenue and that wont cover the cost of those programmers/testers which the company have to pay themselves.

Yeah it works, but you loose the lowlight advantage in S35, I found FF mode still give u more much cleaner image, and you lose the FF bokeh look unless you got speedbooster with EF lens.
But if u just use apsc for that 4k60p and ff prime for stills I think it can work. Better than 28-75 on S35 cause it will be too narrow

I agree with Django that feels like home video vibe, I really dont like the 50p/60p mode on youtube except for sports which i dont mind.
Good thing in PAL land is 25P still feel cinematicish vs 30p on NTSC

That guy is really good, definitely a filmmaker and not a youtuber/tiktoker, compare to his other travel film done on a6500 3 years ago he improved quite a lot! (and he is quite young)
I doubt avg joe or even experienced one can create that kind of work.

Obviously it is not a camera targeting the People here, but I have to respect the clever market fragmentation and targeting by Sony management.
Look at ZV-1F... what a failure that one is, and dont get me started on the QX series! Though still kudo for them to try something different, I just wish they could use a better sensor, the R6II's sensor seem to be pefect for E1 with FF 4K60P, enough res to crop anything and still have proper 4K.
Maybe Canon should do one out side the box vlogging camera too, they should really scratch that C50/R7C and make a E1 competitor, cause that where the money is

The default profile on Sony is quite greenish and yellow, I thought they would have fixed it by IV..

Jpeg only. Stills shooters were very disappointed. And video shooters were enraged there were no improvements for video.
Still better than the how many firmware that A7SIII got for $3500 when it was released, A7SIII could really use the IBIS shift to make its MP much bigger for starter. At least if I want really high resolution I have the option, rather than no option. Though I hope it will have RAW in the future like other brand do.
I kinda feel for A7SIII user, paying big money but the service that Sony provide is pretty skimpy.

Where's the chart from? Is it Gerald?
Yeah

Meanwhile R5 got new firmware that does 402MP photos from ibis shift, not bad for a cam that is older than a7siii.

Body overheats a lot at the moment
Wonder which camera will last longer at 4k60P, the og R6 or this new Sony cam?

Tried one once in a shop and it overheated in a couple of minutes doing it's highest quality video. Otherwise it was really nice. I love the Classic Negative film sim, for photos. But you can get that on any camera along with the newer Nostalgic Negative film sim with Cobalt Image.
Maybe they fixed the overheating with firmware. If they did I wish I had purchased it at that time. Would have made some money by the sound of it, by selling it now. I still think I would prefer the feel of my Fuji XE2 for street photography (better EVF for me too).
That charm is probably why people also like the X100V. I sometimes just look at and admire the XE2 on the shelf or after a fun photowalk. Did a bit with the X Pro 2 too.
How much are X100Vs selling for?
Well in the places I am in they are selling 20% more than brand new.

Thanks to tiktok this camera is the next PS5 in terms of price gauging, even older X100 series benefit by having their resell value going up to.
I wish I bought one of the used ones last year as now the price is really nuts!

I will be really super happy if they remove the 30 min limit and have lens breathing correction, the rest of them is icing on the cake.
On the other hand that mean no R5II this year.

Ultimately Canon accomplished what they wanted by including uncropped 4K60 because that simple fact has blinded some people into thinking this is some great release/super value camera. To be clear, it's not an awful release, but let's stop praising Canon because they're doing more than the bare minimum finally.
The simple fact is video quality on R8 should be better than any other similar price camera because of supersampled 4k60p from 6K sensor, not just uncropped FF4K60P with line skipping or pixel bining or S35 crop.
Some Cinema cameras don't have IS, AF, and need to be rigged with external battery, but I don't hear ppl bashing hard out on those short coming.
What cameras are you actually using?
