Manufacturers do their own market research which they don't typically publish at least not verbatim.

I don't see anything too illogical or controversial about the claims made by Nikon in the interview. Nikon's market share has declined to about 1/3 of what it was at its peak 10+ years ago, and the overall camera market has declined to 1/20 of peak volumes. Nikon's improved high-end camera sales can be explained by two possibilities: one is that Nikon's high-end cameras have become relatively more competitive and thus sell better than expected from their overall market share, or that the increased total camera market (including smartphones) now produces more people who buy high-end cameras, including Nikon's. There are specific examples of the influence of social media on camera sales, including the X100V/VI.

I think both count in this case, the Z8/Z9 is really good capable camera that makes R3 look dated lol 😆

There is a reason why Leica said selling their L Mount system camera is hard vs the Q, Leica Q is probably their most popular seller even though the price is not cheap, I think there are people really just want straight forward P&S camera than going through the hassle of interchangeable lens.

I got a non photographic friend the other day wanting to buy that new Leica D-LUX 8, but after checking out the price I told him X100VI is much better for retaining value, so he ordered X100 instead lol 😆  The hype is real to non photographic friends aka the smartfone user.

  2. If I was all on RF L lens with my FF camera then C80 definitely fit better, those FF lens is not really great on C70 due to 1.5x crop

And I really notice the sharpness when I punch in post, the R5C is way more clearer.

  3. There definitely seem to have lots of komodo for sale lately on my local auction site, one guy list the reason is less cinema and more social video 😂

    Quote

    Red Komodo 6k OG

Great camera, business has moved towards less cinema work and more social work.

And the best cam for social beside phones will be Panasonic with their Opengate mode and M43 is the closest to a square sensor vs 3:2 on APSC/FF

  4. I have Nisi True Color which doesnt have color tint which is good, but pricy. (sick of those yellow tinted VND)

There is Neweer True Color variable nd which was released a month ago is a lot cheaper, and have 1-9 stop ver without color cast. They also sell the non true color ones but those will gave u the tint.

  5. Of course content is the key

When you watch on Onlyfans would u care if they shoot on iPhone or Pro grade camera? I think 99.9% users of OF don't care. 😉

Anyway I moved from Sony FX3 to Canon R7 this year as my personal main cam. Most client couldn't careless, and image quality wise most won't tell the difference except that low light which I hardly shoot.

Gimmick in this context means it's mainly for publicity and marketing; yes, it's usable in the R5 and R5II, but I would estimate it's a capability used by less than 0.5% of the buyers of the product and it comes with many limitations (battery type, storage limits, overheating, lack of redundancy, etc.) that a cinema camera with the same capability would not have.

Yeah that is your opinion, I also shoot occasional 8k for virtual production or those showing on big LED

And 8K is needed for VR applications, those 6k 360 cam is not really sharp for Vision Pro..

Raw on the other hand I rarely use it so it must be gimmick 😉

  7. Yeah, 1080p cropped for vertical is like 600*1080.. even less than 720p resolution.

With 4k you can do fake dolly or slider in post or punch in for close up, much more to play with and give you abit of headroom for errors.

Does people even shoot only 2MP photo nowadays?

After many years of using my Canon 7D, I’m considering upgrading to a new camera body. I’m looking for at least an APS-C sensor, but I’m open to full-frame options as well. My budget is around €600, though I can stretch it a bit if necessary. The most important feature for me is clean ISO performance for night photography. If I can’t find a camera that meets this requirement, I might as well stick with my Canon 7D.

My lens collection is quite small, so I’m open to building a new set of lenses if needed. If you think my budget is too low, please let me know, and I can consider increasing it. Any suggestions for a good used camera that fits these criteria? Thanks in advance!

I think a used EOS RP will suit ur need, since it is FF it still beat any apsc out there for low light capture, and should be in ur budget too.

Jee Zus. Is that how big it was before?! I'm happy with my 200Mbps 6k with Lumix. Couldn't imagine nearly 10x that!

Yeah r5's 4k120p is all-I only, so in terms of practicality R5II is massive improvement on that.

R5II's 4kSraw for 25p/24p is like 350mbps, that is much more manageable vs R5's 8k only raw with huge 1700mbps. But then again not having card to test is a bummer, really keen to see how it fare with c70's 4k raw.

  10. So had a play with R5II in store today

They fixed IBIS wobble for wide.

4k120p is now only 300Mbps instead of R5's 1880Mbps and with sound too

FHD 240fps with sound as well, that will be pretty epic for shooting action/sports etc.

The false colour is nice, it gives u a guide too so you know what to look for.

Clog2 does seem to give that more DR vs Clog3. In clog 3 there is white bar on the right on histogram but clog2 u have full range.

The tracking with the ability to stick to 1 subject completely or occasionally change or change more often, in conjuction with face register that should able to keep say bride/groom in focus all the time instead of random people that is on the screen.

I tried eye focus for a bit, but since I did basic calibration so the system might still need tune more, for now I still prefer touch screen/joystick.

And no 60mbps ipb lite vs R5, 100mbps is the lowest for 4k25p and 150mbps for 4k50p.

Ability to choose fine 1080p is nice, but there is no 4k fine in crop 4k60p though, since I can't take my own card so I can't verify if it does supersampled 4k50p on crop。

  11. Yeah I bought the Canon 28mm cause I really miss the 20mm and 14mm pancake back in the day with m43, 22mm with M50/M6ii, 24mm with 200D and surprisingly there is no AF pancake for Sony FF system.

R8 with 28mm is slightly more depth than my X100Vi Limited.
