Who can be bothered with ND filters? The attraction of a DSLR video is that you don’t need a crew of 10 and a crane to shoot stunning movies with one – it’s all about unburdening ourselves from carrying around tons of gear.

A few people are telling me that Panasonic plan to show a mock up of the AF100’s successor at NAB. The model number has been set, and will be revealed along with the main specs. UPDATE – the product is not necessarily a replacement for the AF100, but Panasonic will definitely be showing a prototype new camera.

I am very impressed with the Sony FS100. The DSLRs have had their first proper kick up the arse today, and they deserve it. Not since the 5D Mark II was released at the end of 2008 have we had any meaningful steps forward.

A CMOS sensor destined for consumer A/V has been released – featuring a global shutter. The sensor is destined to be used in high end consumer video cameras, sports cameras (the company supplies on-board cameras for F1 cars) and industrial cameras where a perfect image with no distortion, and high frame rates are necessities.

The Lumix 14mm F2.5 pancake is currently my favoured option on the GH2 but there are some more affordable alternatives for budget filmmakers.

To use it you will need to have a Panasonic GH2, and to enable 1080p Ex-Tele mode (commonly known as 1:1 crop mode). It gives a feel similar to 8mm or 16mm film on the GH2.
