Olympus have been helpfully telegraphing their future strategy in Israel. With Olympus having said that the E-5 would be their last DSLR and with Sony also turning their back on the optical viewfinder, the inevitable future is now in full swing (sush – nobody wake up Canon and Nikon!) Now a previously confidential presentation shows what that future might look like.

We’ve know for a while Nikon have been developing a mirrorless camera. They’ve filed numerous patents for mirrorless technologies, new lenses and a new mount. Now a good source of Mirrorlessrumors.com (run by the guy behind 43rumors.com) says such a camera will use a Sony 24MP CMOS and be released in April and have given the rumour their highest ranking.

UPDATE – will Sony keep the box form factor? They have done it before with the Sony HDC-P1. Sony have announced a $7k AVCHD camera with 24p and 35mm sensor. Aimed squarely at the AF100 and Red Scarlet, the boxy looking prototype gives little a way right now but I’m gathering more info as the story unfolds.
