[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/125681593[/vimeo] Update: here’s a quick test from me confirming Dual Pixel CMOS AF works during raw recording. Check the Vimeo description for more details / workflow. The convenience of Dual Pixel CMOS AF is now coming to raw video, with Magic Lantern now available for all 70D owners. Previously the software only worked on a very select few 70D bodies and not the earlier serial numbers, which had a slightly different firmware…

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/125560269[/vimeo] The EOS M3 features Canon’s new flagship 24MP APS-C (Super 35mm) sensor, the flag bearer for future Canon APS-C DSLRs such as the 760D. Now released in Europe and Asia but not in the US, does the M3 rage against the dying of the light or go quietly into the night?
Canon have a real problem in my opinion. They’re not listening to enthusiasts at all. They claim the XC10 is an “enthusiast camera” and for aspiring filmmakers. Actually it is a POV camcorder where you want a bit better quality than a GoPro.
The Canon C300 Mark II specs are now out and you can see my opinion of the new camera below. As well as the C300 Mark II, Canon also announced the XC10 today, a 4K bridge camera with 12MP 1″ sensor. One is a winner and one isn’t!
Many people aren’t ready for 4K yet. These people just got the bargain of the century with a massive Canon price reduction on the old Canon C300. You can read my most recent views on the C300 here. But should you give into temptation and buy one? Let’s have a look at the options.
Magic Lantern just turned your 5D Mark III into a desktop computer. The cameras (running ARM processor and up to 512MB of RAM) are seen in this video booting into the Linux kernel, version 3.19. The development paves the way for third party apps to run on the camera and to control all functions of the device.
Canon have revealed a little of their broad future objectives in the company’s latest annual report.
In my opinion these are some of the best adapters currently on the market for Canon & Nikon glass. They take a normal Canon or Nikon lens and turn it into a PL mount (positive locking) with no play between the mount and lens.
