Hi, Hope someone can help with these issue. I shot in JPG MOV 30p 4:3 with anamorphic Moller 2X in Black and white. Now I want to convert 29.97 to 23.97 . I used compressor to do that task, but the blacks get crushed. To fix that I set in compressor a gamma correction. The original setting is 1,0 and I drop it to 0,86. On that way the picture stay very similar to original. Does anyone else know how to handle in a better way these issue? Best regards. Francisco.

I finally got some Anamorphic footage, rather than just tests. Here's my footage of EMKE Hawaii performing at Hard Rock Cafe Honolulu. I only have 2 anamorphics (waiting for #3) so the I faked it by making the 5dmkIII super shallow DOF. Not the best option, but it fits in just fine. Please enjoy! Hello all! I've been interested in buying an FS100 and one of the things that I'd like to do the most with it is shooting anamorphic. However it feels like there's a void there in the internet, for there are just a few videos online of proper FS100 Anamorphic footage. https://vimeo.com/28203770 and https://vimeo.com/33889188 The latter looks pretty nice, as you will understand, I'd like to see more. Andrew, you promised some FS100 Anamorphic footage with your ISCOs! Whatever happened to that? If anyone else has some footage or framegrabs to share, please feel free to post them. Hey guys, GH2 owner.. I have seen Rokinon's 7.5mm Fisheye they have for m43'rds and then I saw their 85mm F14 telephoto lens made for 4/3rds (on my wish list) for $300!! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/769411-REG/Rokinon_85M_O_85mm_f_1_4_Aspherical_Lens.html So I decided to take a look at their site and find out they have some also a 24mm F1.4 lens for $800.. My name is Taylor, im a student filmmaker in Sedona and have just recently switched to cinematography as my major. This is my first time posting on this site, however i have been following for a while (i own the GH2 shooters guide and anamorphic shooters guide). If i am posting in the wrong place, feel free to bump/ let me know how to fix. I am a new owner of the GH2 and have hacked it with the anamorphic hack in the anamorphic shooters guide. It works fantastic when i dont have a external monitor plugged in, shooting in beautiful 2.66:1 with an incredible bitrate. However, when i plug in my DP6 the gh2 automatically switches out of mjpeg (4:3) and into variable movie mode (16:9). Is there some setting i am missing? If anyone has any advice id appreciate it!

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has any anamorphic lenses for sale? Really trying to get in the swing of anamorphic shooting. I'm bidding on a few lenses on eBay, but I'd like to see what everyone else has to offer if those fall through. Nothing that will break the bank either (which is hard to say considering most lens prices). Thanks!

Hi I'm shooting a short over 4 days in England around October and looking to hire an Iscorama 36? The budget doesn't justify buying an Iscorama (plus they're a buggar to find!) Are there any owners in England who would rent their Isco 36 and clamp out to me? Also, out of curiosity, would people prefer the GH2 (Anamorphic hack with lomos?) setup or 7D (with Isco 36?) We have the option but can't find many good examples of the GH2 ana hack? Many thanks, James

Hey guys and fellow GH2 owners.. I'm trying to decide between the Pancake 20mm F1.7 or the Leica 25mm F1.4... I know right, I don't owner either of these two lovely lens.. I may end up getting both in the end, but because have to buy one at a time, I ned to choose between them.. I'm slightly leaning towards the 25mm Leica, because of it's name, the nano lens that 20mm does not have, and F1.4 vs. F1.7... However SO many more people own the 20mm F1.7 and it may be because its cheaper.. at about $356 vs. $500... Any one have some nice photo shots of the 25mm leica and 20mm pancake? Would like to compare them through images.. Also the Panasonic Fisheye is a bit expensive, and the Panasonic 14mm F2.5 Prime pancake looks nice, wish the aperture was bigger.. I would get the Noktor 12mm T1.6 before the 14mm.

Basically just unscrew the rear lens and attach the anamorphic adapter to a DSLR/lens setup. If you are curious, here is an image (link below) taken with a Canon 7D, a Canon EF-S 60mm and the ISCO handheld at the front of the assembly. I have not tested any of its other qualities or shortcomings but this image may serve as a basic reference for anyone else considering such a lens. This is the first image taken with the setup. I set the red ISCO on infinity and focused with the Canon EF-S 60mm. Next step is to arrange an appropriate clamp. Which is on the Right of the image Im Sharing. On the left I only did a 25 percent squeeze or 2.35:1 / 1920x810 aspect ratio. Now the ebayer that sold me this lens told me it was 1.3x. But I'm really not sure. The lens looks like a Century Optics Lens.But its not as blurry some of the videos that I've seen on ebay. I'm using a T2i and Helios 44-2 lens with a 49mm to 52mm thread which FITS THE ANAMORPHIC LENS. The lens is beautiful- it's a little dusty- and it has an anamorphic rubber band around it. No brand is on the actual lens and underneith it it says Made In Japan. 2 Questions come to mind- What is what is the proper aspect resolution/squeeze based on the photo I've taken? Hi guys, writer/director here working on getting my first feature up and running. I entered this comp with only 9 hours before the deadline, primarily, as when I saw the judges, I knew it was real people who make and live cinema and not funding bodies and other lack of film education types, who were going to see them. I shot it on the GH2 to test what I have always believed in, which is, that when it comes to any kind of artistic or creative expression, it is what you have to say and not what you say it on or with that counts, and nothing else, and I knew others had made full blown productions with full crews, budgets, locations and everything, so I was slightly taken aback when the judges: Paul Greengrass (Bourne films) Jeremy Bolt (Producer Event Horizon, Resident Evil films) and editor Eddie Hamilton (X-Men: First Class, Kick Ass) were unanimous as picking it as the winner!!! Here are a couple of their comments: Judges comments included Eddie Hamilton (X-Men editor)… ‘Very cinematic, excellent use of camera, composition, editing and music… a tour de force, and for me the clear winner.’ Producer Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil Franchise) commented… ‘Subtle and visually bold. Made you think and the boys performance was very believable ­it was understated. I also thought editing, cinematography and music were very strong.’ Would love to know what you all think. Less than 2 mins so nothing heavy. For me the GH2 totally rocks for all the reasons that Andrew has been tirelessly cheerleading it for, I am a guerilla filmmaker and don't like the time and wasted energy associated with waiting around on film sets to do this and setting up that, ok maybe if you are spending someone elses money, however I just like to shoot and get on with it. I am really wanting to shoot my feature in exactly the same way I made this and with this camera. So am always looking for likeminded, cine-literate, passionate about film... filmmakers. I'd like to set up a post where people can talk about their experiences having their anamorphic lenses serviced and repaired. I have very limited knowledge and (fortunately) no experience with an actual repair so far, but please contribute if you have something that you can share here. Many of these lenses are very old and might need some work! In no particular order: GENERAL ANAMORPHIC LENS REPAIR Super 16 Inc (New York) - Bernie O'Doherty repairs and services anamorphic lenses. From Bernie: "A maladjustment of 1/64th to 1/32nd of a degree can mean the difference between a sharp image and one that needs a close-down to f4/5.6 to provide a decent image. And customers seem to accept lower image quality where anamorphic lenses are concerned. Of course, some lenses have imperfect design features which prevent optimum image quality, but, in general, after a good optimizing, most lenses, even anamorphic, benefit from such a servicing." Focus Optics (California) - They may service other anamorphic lenses. When I emailed them, I got a one-line reply that said something like, "Yes, we service anamorphic lenses". Which ones, I am not sure of. Abel Cine Tech (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles) - I came across a forum in which they offered their services when someone asked about a problem Kowa. ISCORAMA REPAIRFocal Point Lens (Colorado) - John Van Stelten was the official one-man Isco projection lens repair service in the United States up until they were absorbed by Schneider a few years back. He has worked on lots of Iscoramas. He is one of the few lens repair specialists that I have talked who offers lens polishing and re-coating. It's not cheap and it can be risky, but in some cases, this process successfully removes any trace of scratches, coating issues, and fungus that has etched into a lens element. He also has an autocollimator, which is essential for re-callibrating lenses after they have been taken apart. Nippon Photo Clinic Service (New York) - They are listed in the Wikipedia article on Iscorama as being a repair show that can service Iscoramas. They can probably service Kowa and Bell & Howell as well. I need to give them a call to confirm (they are closed for the weekend). LOMO REPAIROlex Camera Services (Ukraine) - I have emailed back and forth with Olexandr quite a bit with questions about my Lomo square front. He is very knowledgeable. I have not yet had to employ his services, but Ed Lee of the Lomo Anamorphic User blog has, and he's given Olexandr high marks. I wish that Olexandr accepted PayPal! Super 16 Inc (New York) - Services Lomo anamorphic lenses. See mention above for more info. RafCamera (Belarus) - Rafael can install PL mounts and geared rings on Lomos. Focus Optics (California) - They service Round Front and BAS model Lomos.

I just got an email from SmallHD about some of the features of their new DP7 monitors that will be hitting the market this Fall. Of particular interest to the people who frequent this forum: [i][b]ANAMORPHIC DE-SQUEEZE[/b][/i] [i]2x, 1.5x, 1.33x — However your image is squeezed, the DP7 can correct the image to appear at the correct aspect ratio, even with DSLR scale. Particularly handy is the ability to send the un-squeezed picture downstream to other monitors for clients/directors who usually prefer non-squishy images [url="http://www.smallhd.com/site/dp7-pro/roadmap.html"](Coming Fall 2012 via free software upgrade)[/url].[/i] You can already more or less manipulate the DP4 and DP6 to display your 3.55:1 image (as well as the other standard crop ratios), but it's nice that they thought to add it in as a preset. After shelling out all of this dough for anamorphic lenses, not everyone will be able to afford a DP7 (myself included), but I would not be surprised if this is pushed out to the lower-end monitors as well in the next firmware update. Let's hope that the good folks at SmallHD are feeling generous!

Seb Farges has been posting videos shot with this lens for quite a while now. I thought that it was impressive so I picked one up for myself. I believe that it may be the smallest anamorphic lens in the world. It is TINY. It's an interesting little beast (completely different from it's grandfather, the Hi-Fi 2) but I think that the footage has a nice, soft look to it! The Baby Hypergonar seems to work best in broad daylight between f8 and f16, but with the +0.4 achromat attached, I can take it all the way down to f1.8 on my Konica AR 40mm and still have pretty sharp results (and a five-foot rackable range that expands as I stop down). I should mention that there is no focus ring. You just shoot through the anamorphic. The lens vignettes very slightly on a 35mm lens (MFT), and the image bends at the sides ala wide angle a little much for my taste. At 40mm, I think that it looks good. And of course, 50mm works well too. Someone recommended trying it with a Nikkor 55mm Micro, which I did, but I was not impressed -- the extended barrel of that lens makes for a great place to conceal a tiny anamorphic like this, but you just can't get the anamorphic close enough to the taking lens. The flares seem to be soft, streaky blue and segmented white (or sometimes both at the same time). I find them to be very pleasing. The 1.75x crop vs the 2x crop that is a characteristic of so many other lenses is surprisingly more manageable, though I do find myself often shooting distorted, without an external monitor, just to have easy access to the magnified focus assist.
