Sid got a reaction from TheRenaissanceMan in Will Canon & Nikon leaving the DSLR market boost Pentax?
Is this site now boycotting Canon, after the R5 experience ? It's just that the Canon EOS C70 4K Digital Cinema Camera has been announced and there is no mention of it on this site. It looks pretty good to me, but I was wondering Andrew's take.... 🙂

Sid got a reaction from John Matthews in The EOSHD Interview - Kazuto Yamaki, CEO of Sigma and Takuma Wakamatsu, Sigma Fp Product Manager
Mr. Yamaki is a really cool guy. It would be great if the Foveon video camera were released even without a high iso. Andrew, your video looks stunning to my eye. 🙂

DIY screen flip mod coming soon?
It would be great to have anamorphic mode.
Maybe director's viewfinder has one?
And soon will be able to record.
I hope Sigma also consider a slightly larger model, with IBIS, EVF and flip screen.
I get the feeling future is bright for Sigma's full frame cameras.

I really really hope this is the spiritual successor to the digital bolex.

Sid got a reaction from Lux Shots in Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
Netflix won't take any prisoners from any "enthusast" camera no matter what the specs, so S1H is an impressive solid benchmark recognition of quality. Now could 1DXMk3, or even FP, ever enter this terrotory, as I think 1DC was once approved for broadcast use ?

Sid reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon 1DX III, FF 4k60p with 422 10bit internal
Hate to spoil the $6000 Canon fanclub party, but I took delivery of the Sigma Fp today and glad to say the full frame 4K CDNG is incredible. Looks nothing like 8bit RAW... More like having 14bit Magic Lantern with huge dynamic range. Whatever they have done with colour science on this camera it is very clever.
Remains to be calculated how large the file sizes are in 4K 8bit RAW mode internally. Massive I expect!
Going to try the 12bit next via USB C to my Samsung T5.
But the internal MOV ALL-I 4K is also very nice.
Bitrate is a very high 400Mbit in this mode.
It's a beast.

No unconscious bias. Objective facts, yes. If Panasonic had released a $6K version of the S1H with no EVF, no articulated screen, no anamorphic mode, with a flippy mirror in the way, we'd all be going "eh"
Not saying the 1D X III does not have benefits and is not a big improvement from the previous one....
But it's still limited by being a DSLR, huge file sizes in RAW, very high price, and fact there are much better options around for 10bit if you're ok with manual focus (as filmmaker you should be!)
Foveon version of the Fp I very much doubt will shoot decent video due to how much extra data there is on the Foveon chip.

C'mon thephoenix, it's clear footage will come, but the article is surely a welcome update ? The camera was seen and thoughts shared, then everything reported back here. Of all the sites, I find this one the most integral.. ?

Novoflex do one for about £150 but there are generic ones like this for under £20.

The SSD is powered through USB C, same as connecting it to your laptop.
Same as on the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K / 6K.

Sid got a reaction from Kisaha in Blackmagic to announce new camera related news at 12 noon PDT (8pm London)
The guru of FD to EF conversions appears to be Eddie Houston. You'll pay, but the quality is reckoned to really good, and I understand he was a Canon engineer back in the day.

Andrew, the BM Arsegate post and the subsequent retraction post showed total, total honesty each time, and that is worth much.
