  1. Yeah better color I would say. Auto focus is in a different league and of course the higher MP sensor is better for stills. I guess you may be able to find it cheaper than the A73
  2. Yeah Panasonic's GH line is still one of the most interesting things around in terms of video. We have a bunch of full frame cameras that are a bunch of different flavors of the same thing. I doubt the new Sony will be that different either.
  3. I don't think Arthouse films are really a good representation of general use cameras.
  4. Yeah the A7s2 is only marginally better at high ISOs so there is really no reason someone would buy it with the A73 out.
  5. Rolling shutter doesn't look worse than any other full frame out there.
  6. Which you'd expect. Would be interesting to compare it with an Xt3 and A73 maybe
  7. I completely agree, I think it would definitely be a good move for Black Magic to invest in it. Just seems absurd to me that Panasonic is not putting money into it.
  8. Black Magic is a little different for me as auto focus isn't as essential in the "cine" camera market. I would assume developing phase detect or any type of auto focus would be quite expensive for a small company like BM. Sony and Canon are both doing it though. Seems like there is zero excuse for hybrids though especially with a huge company like Panasonic. It makes little sense to me but I guess they must know what they are doing. Hopefully they take the plunge with the GH6.....
  9. I don't know all the other systems have it, including the XT3 which has internal 10 bit up to 4k 60p.
  10. Yeah that's certainly possible. Why haven't they pursued phase detect auto focus though? I really can't get my head around it. It seems like a large amount of buyers care about auto focus.
  11. Panasonic is definitely handicapping these cameras, likely to protect their higher end stuff(??) or maybe the M43 market. Still its full frame 4k 10 bit 422. No one else is offering that. The cropped 4k 60p is a bummer but its still less of a crop than the XT3 and you'll still be getting the amazing high ISO performance. The 12 bit out is pretty cool too, (might be RAW?) Full Vlog might also mean this camera could have some pretty impressive dynamic range. The limitations and high price definitely make me hesitant though. Last year was pretty crazy in terms of camera releases. I have a feeling things might slow down this year. Still waiting on Sony to play their card.
  12. Looks wonderful, I always thought it was a bit unnatural to be surrounded by a million people you don't know everyday, though everyone likes different things. What do you do for a living out there?
  13. I think this will come down to your color manipulation talent. The pressure is on ?
  14. I don't know I am sure they will sell. The GH5 sold a lot of units even though it had poor auto focus and was a video centered camera. Looks like the Panasonic S1 really delivers body wise. I don't think full frame 60p or internal 10 bit 422 full frame are small things.
  15. Auto focus actually looks really good in that video above. Looks like Panasonic is doing a great job.
  16. Sounds like it will match the GH5's video prowess.
  17. The Shadows are pretty clean on the XT3 in my experience. Everything is a step up from the Sony. The Fuji lens lineup is really nice though sorely lacking in IS other than some of the zoom lenses.
  18. Yeah I'm talking about the benefits of raw for me personally. I mistakenly read the specs Kyle posted as 14 bit not 12 bit 444, but still 12 bit 444 would be great and plenty for my needs. Panasonic confirmed DFD auto focus so it seems like its doomed.
  19. Full frame 4k 60p and internal 10 bit 422. Basically a full frame GH5. Not bad at all. More attractive than Nikon's offering to me though you're paying for it.
