  1. Sure you get resolve with it but I don't know if people buying it or selling it will actually remove $300 from the price. $1000 used is a more realistic estimate in the short term. Just depends if something comes out that can really compete with it. Some cameras hold value for years. No camera is a good investment if you plan to jump onto the new hot item everytime though.
  2. Yeah it's not perfect, was it very back lit?
  3. I mean purely in terms of high ISO performance. That is if they go with the low MP route again. Face detect on the XT3 only works for specific scenarios. I find for gimbal work just using the regular focus modes works way better. I hope Fuji does a firmware update improving the face detect auto focus. I think Fuji should have IS on its f2 primes. I really hope Tameron and Sigma start making X mount lenses.
  4. Almost makes me want to buy a BM pocket, footage looked really nice.
  5. Nice job man, I also did a 1 minute short but didn't get it finished in time. I liked the shots of the dude sharpening the axe.
  6. Z cam has released footage of their Zlog2 15 stops https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Nhqn6w4uPJkn-PKURN6cg_6uWRRe6CLO/view?fbclid=IwAR1zGHQyrKsMp633AAy3kzgvPibepE_KWaFBGC0AI1IaYBo8DBFBhRTGs9U Google drive link if someone wants to play with it. I'd like to see a video of a person against the sun.
  7. The GH5 doesn't have multiple exposure hdr like phones do though.
  8. Gonna say the bottom is Canon based on your comment about resolution. If you are using the same focal length the fuji would also be more cropped I believe.
  9. Why didn't Panasonic or Black Magic include 4k 120fps? I think Z cam is a new company with very little to lose. Panasonic could have done more with the GH5S. We'll see when they release downloadable footage in the next few days though. Would definitely be nice.
  10. More expensive without a doubt. 4k 120 is not really worth it for me at the moment. 15 stops is though.
  11. Yeah I really find dynamic range testing and numbers really confusing. My favorite test is the over and under test. If can indeed get 1.5 stops more then the Pocket 4k, I'd be down with it.
  12. Yeah my biggest draw to the Black Magic Pocket 4k was prores and higher dynamic range then pretty much any camera of its type on the market. However if the Z cam beats it in dynamic range (true 15 stops) that would easily sway my decision. I like Black Magic's color a lot but prores 422 gives you enough to correct anything in post for the most part. 120 fps 4k is also a really nice feature, even though its pretty noisy.
  13. Ah still impressive. Thanks for the explanation, it was really puzzling me lol.
  14. After this came out I kind of lost interest. However new updates in firmware are getting me interested again. The Z cam now supports Prores recording. The ability to shoot in H265 and 10bit H264 is awesome too. They also have unique settings not found in cameras like the GH5 to completely get rid of artificial sharpening. However the newest and most interesting firmware update is the new log profile, Zlog2. They are claiming it does 15 stops of dyanmic range in comparison with the previous, 13.5 stops in Zlog. They have uploaded test shots on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/zcame2/ This isn't an HDR multiple exposure thing either, which they also have in the camera WDR(which has ghosting with enough movement). Another thing is HD 240 fps. They have a pretty unique auto focus system as well, which they are still working on. If they can get that to be reliable I'll definitely be buying it. 15 stops is a big seller for me if its true.
  15. Like I said it's debatable. In terms of color and dynamic range it's pretty equal though. In comparison with the pro digital cameras used on movies like Attack of the Clones especially.
  16. Yeah my computer doesn't playback H265 very well, at least once color grades or anything slightly heavy is applied when editing. Transcoding everything to prores now. Which I really don't mind as I save space recording H265 onto SD cards. But its nice sometimes, for quick projects, to be able to edit immediately without transcoding. Prores looks cleaner then highly compressed then H265 or 4, so I like it when its a recording option.
  17. If you are lighting the shot it doesn't matter that much what camera you use (to an extent obviously lol). Its reached a point where digital has gotten as good as film(arguably of course) and now the tiny prosumer cameras are closing the gap with cinema cameras. I think the GH5S has all of those. XT3 beats it on other levels tho
  18. I had no idea they didn't use SD cards, kind of a bummer. Though the XQD cards are studier. Low light performance and IBIS are definitely huge benefits.
  19. Because of reliability or image quality? We are coming so close to the holy grail of video though. Once 10 bit 4k60p comes to full frame mirrorless its gonna be the nail in the coffin.
  20. A new A7SII would still crush a GH5S. The A73 beats the GH5S while having over twice the megapixel count. Medium format will become a thing eventually too. The GH5S is very capable for most things though IMHO. Its pushing the limits of M43 though, can't lower the MP more then they have. Its also not really a good hybrid camera. That said 1inch sensors just are severely handicapped, at least for my uses.
  21. You get a wider shot with C4K. Otherwise they both look the same.
  22. The issue with all small sensors is they don't do well in low light. Better then they did before, but hell even APSC and M43 fail in low light compared to full frame performance. The sensors are so small the difference is pretty huge. Outside of that though, yeah you definitely have a point. For me low light performance is huge though.
