    Hey guys,
Yesterday my daughter and I made this animation. I've not done it much before, but it was a nice way to learn 3d space and camera moves in AE. Although it was just a fun little project for a rainy day and I didn't have any intention of showing it to anyone, I'm proud if it and her in many different ways, so thought I'd upload it. Would love your thoughts.
EDIT: the images were scanned from paper drawings with a €70ish camera - does that count for the cheap camera challenge? ?

    OK, I‘ll do it.
But: Seeing the masterpieces you guys submitted I’m seriously afraid to lose my camera (it’s old and cheap and partly broken but I’m somehow fond of it), so I’m entering only for the jury prize... ?‍♂️
Shot only with a camera and a rather old lens. No grading.
    Here it is:

well thats inaugural (is inaugural the right word ? ) round one, done and dusted. I think the reveals will be interesting. I also cant help but think that the idea of losing a camera may of put alot of people off, statistics say there's 29606 registered members, pretty sure the submissions don't quite tally up too that. Which is a bit of a disappointment. Personally i learned alot about myself and resolve and associated video stuff with this competition and it was interesting to see other peoples submissions and how they tackled it. Looking forward to the next challenge although next time if i may suggest lets not make it about losing anything.

ten or more years ago the aussie dollar was stronger than the us dollar. My parents went over there 6 or so times even brought back a container with two trams ams and two corvettes  not sure they made much money out of it. now the aus $ is like 60 something cents makes it pointless  even try to buy from you guys.

er... me too, how about a short youtube video that may be more watchable, you could even make it for the $200 camera challenge then your guaranteed and audience. Even if you did lose.  i seriously doubt anyone wants too take a camera off an aspiring director. i dont but then i might be more chivalrous than the rest  perhaps

not knocking your zeal dude,  but unless you tell a good story and can animate that story somehow, maybe not. I think there is a reason why we have categories like users and other categories like makers.

That's a bit of a low blow andrew, as host of this site and a mentor with much experience and alot to offer the rest of us. I,d expect a more tolerant attitude. Comments like this do not  grow your website. regardless of whether he's right, wrong or a complete idiot. I know you have this persona of telling it like it is and thats fine. However making it personal and smiting some one down with derogatory comments makes you no better than the schoolyard bully

So the final day to post your video will be Monday 5th August at 20:00 GMT+0. Then we can start voting and then later in the week the big reveal of kit.

personally he doesn't bother me much, but i dont go looking for bargains in the for sale section either. But i have to wonder what sort of bandwidth  his for sale ads   and web space cost  andrew .
Of course no one is talking about the elephant in the room, maybe its actually andrew. Perhaps c-log and pro log aren't selling so well and andrews had to diversify

Tom is the constant in a turbulent world.
No matter what personal or national or worldwide setback befalls us, we know that the sun will still rise tomorrow and Tom Peter will still be linking to mediocre listings on eBay.
He's the touchstone we all need.

Thanks @webrunner5 for this article. This was fascinating reading.
So, here are my big picture conclusions:
This is only an issue at really wide apertures (1.4+) The sensor stack on the P4K is 1.5mm thinner than normal M4/3, so if you are using an adapter without optics, the P4K should perform better than other M4/3 cameras because its sensor stack is close to the same thickness as a normal SLR.  The Sigma 18-50 f/1.8 lens is pretty much immune from the problem because it has an exit pupil distance of 150mm.  MOST importantly (and unexpectedly) the P4K may show problems with *native* M4/3 lenses at very wide apertures because those lenses were designed to use a 4mm filter stack but the P4K uses one that is 2.5mm. Luckily, I have a Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 lens and P4Ks + GH5/GH5s cameras. When I get time, I will compare the P4K vs. the GH5s wide open and look for differences. If there are differences, it will probably be on the edges of the images. I would bet that the differences would be most visible in photos, but obviously the P4K doesn't do very good photos...
So, Blackmagic designed in a difference (filter stack = 2.5mm instead of 4mm) that would likely make the P4K perform better with adapted lenses, but also likely caused it to perform worse with native M4/3 lenses...weird.

The bm p4k is my first  video camera so my knowledge isn't that extensive. I am reasonable sure there was an issue with the filter stack on the earlier black magic pocket cameras and adapters or boosters. Tom antos doesn't recommend the .58 speedboster for the p4k which is the original speedbooster for the bm pocket camera I think. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. By the way have you watched Tom antos comparison on speedboosters for the p4k? Personally I liked the .64 for the look it provides as I'm  not a fan of the 2x crop but maybe that's just me.

Ok so my tokina 28-70 turned up last week and the vitrox adapter arrived on friday. Spent  some time with both on the bmp4k over the weekend. This viltrox is the most expensive adapter i have bought so far most others have been dumb cheap adapters ( read that as really cheap )  for my pentax m42 lenses. the viltrox fits onto the tokina lens very snugly no play, sadly cant say the same about the fit to the bmp4k there is some rotational play there. I understand that manufactures need to make allowances for tolerances but i think bm could have make things a bit tighter on the mount front. So far thats been my only thing that seems to bug me about the bmp4k and various lenses that i mount to it.
I'm really starting to like the tokina 28-70mm  zoom even with the brief amount of play time. I'm thinking this may quickly become a favorite lens.
The viltox has a tripod socket foot that does that screws up onto the adapter with a thumbscrew. However i'm either a 300 pound weakling or the thumbscrew doesn't screw up as tight as i would like as i get a little bit of  side to side movement when attached to a tripod. i am going to try living with it for awhile but i think i'lll end up getting a local welder  to spot weld it or something. i new it was a smart mount when i bought it but was unsure if it would work on the p4k. The viltrox has something like an aperture ring that goes from f to 8 which is similar to your normal aperture ring except instead of being say f2.6 - f22   it goes f-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 i guess it correlates close enough for a human mind to interpret. With out reading the manual the adapter will change the nikon aperture from the ring on the vitrox adapter but not from the bmp4k.  With the tripod socket foot attached and the tokina on the front, the camera seems balanced enough to sit flat without tipping forwards or backwards but pick it up and its a touch heavier on the lens.
i have included a bunch of dng stills converted to jpegs for your perusal. Probably the next thing on the agenda is a speed booster which is what i will be looking into next, as i'm not really a fan of the 2x crop of the p4k, maybe the viltox one. Apart from the movement from the foot socket i quite like the viltrox adapter.
I did find some dirt or something inside the tokina lens when i first looked through it,  not attached to the camera when zooming however it doesn't seem to show attached to the camera, maybe i should do some pixel peeping. If i can find a good localish service center i would be tempted to get it cleaned.
edit: by the way i got the nikon version,  as far as i'm aware only the nikon and the pentax versions have an aperture ring, the others are controlled by the camera feel free to correct me i am wrong.
