  1. So your saying theres a 50% chance that the girls on film thread will go ballistic ?
  2. art imitates life, which imitates art, does it not ? for a cinematography forum its almost a chicken or egg thingy ? i dont have an issue getting arty if it provokes creativity or moves us away from which is the best camera and why its the best. The whole youtube camera verses camera thing bores me too death. Much more interesting for me, is seeing what can be done with them. I'm interested in the orange/teal look as well So i'll be jumping on the band wagon, not so keen on doing much in post and not having a lot of coin this xmas i confined myself to half a dozen gel filters. No lights yet ? but my brother owes me money, if he comes through in the next couple of weeks, i'll getting the sirui anamorphic and some other bits and pieces.
  3. kudos's, very clever. i do think you missed an opportunity to cross to collettes ring my bell moment complete with actions, just after your subcribe section ?
  4. something we could try in the new year perhaps, i guess kinda like a new years resolution ? the forum is a bit quiet at the moment which is to be expected
  5. c'mon guys, pics or it didn't happen ? my favorite would of course be the bmd p4k. My first cinema camera, seeing as i haven't had ten other cameras to compare it to, i cant really complain about it. Anyway i am pleased with the results i get with it. Of course canon have to get a mention but i think its magic lantern that should get some kudos's for making canons more usable.
  6. merry Christmas all. Hope you all have a great day with family and friends
  7. if your dilemma is detail, sharpness, resolution may i suggest this perhaps ?
  8. wallet wizard do an ad, where some bloke smashes the tv while wearing vr, must have been based on you ? as a young adult 15-17 i watched the whole series. Bit disturbing actually, it may account for some of my issues? i'll be honest and say i wouldn't watch it in vr
  9. sounds almost criminal to buy a lens and not use it ? i have never had any trouble with ebay, but then other have nightmare stories, so six of one half a dozen of the other. i'd make sure the seller accepted returns and had 98-99% buyer satisfaction rating. i'd also message the seller asking for detail about the lens, the more you can pin them down on the better your chances are in a ebay dispute bell and howell would be quite popular i would imagine. Kowas certainly are, expect to pay a nice amount for one of them
  10. I was half expecting that to happen, thought it may have taken a bit longer ? By the way @Tito Ferradans is yours a pre production model ? i watched tom antos's video again and i swear that the second one he received has smoother oval bokeh, not so cat eyed, i also thought that the flare were a little more mellow as well. If both you guys shoot at different apertures would that count for the bokeh differences or am i imagining things ?
  11. dammit cinegrain, now i'm really wanting one. I do think the term sharks might be a tad harsh but i reckon the analogy is spot on looks like they have lessened the flaring somewhat and the bokeh is less cat eyed as well. i wouldn't say it was perfect, but it is an improvement and certainly no deal breaker for me. In the pond shot it does look like tom isn't too worried about a few spots of rain on his setup. Cant do much till the new year after that i'll investigate some options.
  12. makes sense. I will try that next time. Today seems to be smoke free but if the wind comes up or changes direction i'll probably get another chance nice photo i like the reflection between the reeds, good placement ? Your pretty much guaranteed the one time you opt out of doing something is the day when you miss out. I still feel bit precious about the p4k been playing with the canon mostly to experiment and save using the p4k. Stanthorpes about 900 meters above sea level. so most of the time we are about 4 degrees cooler than most areas, i think our hottest day so far has been 36. However the job completion rate around the house has really dropped off ?
  13. i'm not so sure, even with 10 bit internal, i presume that there will be 12/14 bit external for those that demand it. Now whether they implement as an external recorder like an atomos or do something funky like bmd did with the p4k and usb type c and debayer to get around that patent issue. Thats the question i think.
  14. smoke, what smoke ? pentax 300 f4 2x converter and add the crop from a canon 60d. i can get a nice pink sun. However its alot redder to my eyes, but whatever i do, i tend to maul it badly any suggestions to get it redder ?
  15. i agree, it is a bargain and it is pretty smart marketing, why use your own money when you can use someone else's ? it pretty much guarantees every $ that comes in is cream or gravy depending on your topping of choice i guess ? Next thing you will know ford and holden will be doing it ? Maybe i aught to investigate a free trade agreement with sirui.. you know 6 bags of oats for one anamorphic, sounds fairly reasonable ? btw should anyone be unhappy with their serui anamorphic. You can box it back up, mark gift on it and ship it to me ?
  16. i want one, and i appreciate the offer. Been out of work for two months so things are a little tight. Maybe in the new year, i can make things stretch a bit besides i have some gear already so its not like i dont have something to play with but a single focus would have been nice.?
  17. visiting the serui website Anamorphic Lens $870 AUD $1,015 (14% off) 50mm F1.8 Anamorphic 1.33X Lens Included Items Anamorphic Lens Estimated Shipping February 2020 578 out of 700 claimed Ships worldwide. damn their starting to go fast, i was hoping to get one soonish, just need to rob a bank er.... no one say anything to grimor please. ?
  18. So no chance of a pre xmas launch, pity i was hoping lidar would be good for catching santa in the act.
  19. the jury is still out on that ? I am curious at what point the sun becomes too much for the camera and damage is done. I know they tell us to get filters for eclipses regardless of viewing naked eye or telescope and i have tried shooting the setting sun myself when there has been smoke around and the sun is really quite red and spectacular. Probably shouldn't be looking at the sun through the viewfinder with 2x converter and a 300mm however ?
  20. ironfilm, with that beard i'm surprised you haven't been mistaken for a wookie ?
  21. there's a movie in this, an anamorphic movie, with alternate endings for both types of glass, gentlemen choose your weapons and ten paces please, any closer and we'd need diopters ?
  22. i was disappointed to see that the pentax m42 series never made the list ?
  23. watching ebay i'd have to say a $2000 iscorama is rarer than a unicorn ? maybe a year or two years ago possibly ? Barrel distortion, uneven waterfall bokeh, internal reflections, raimbow artifacts, blooming that is the anamorphic look everyone has been trying to mimic over the years. thats just like trippin without the mushrooms ? if you want hype, go visit the p4k thread, more than a million views and that was before the camera was even released ? what we have been doing is having a gentlemen's discussion on a new lens, thats the cheapest by far, that will alleviate most of the issues of buying a anamorphic projection lens and rigging it to work single focus style, that is groundbreaking gentlemen. Pretty sure tito's already said its not perfect. Does it have to be perfect ? no it does not. It just has to give us flares and an anamorphic aspect ratio 1.33 will do for starters
