    bmp4k adventures

More digressing, i know @Tito Ferradans has been doing something with faking the anamorphic look. Maybe he's posted something by now not sure. In the interests of sharing the anamorphic burden i had made a frame and had a machinist add some grubs screws to mount it onto my letus anamorphic. I have been wondering if perhaps i could add or change the flares somehow. Lots of testing in front of me just need to find a fishing buddy that has lots of different fishing lines. i will probably have to paint the frame black but the first test will to see how the frame reacts unpainted
  2. you could get a russian nap for less than $100 most likely but you need to factor in lens clamps and such, after that the price just goes goes up. I think i spent about $300 for an elmoscope then more on a lens clamp and still more yet if i get a front mounted variable diopter. Anamorphics isn't really a cheap sport. i wouldn't recommend a nap, their big and heavy . a normal projection scope will be a lot smaller and lighter and easier to mount but need double focus or buy a fvd people that are selling on ebay generally know what anamorphics are worth, and its getting harder to find really good deals plus there seems to be alot more interest in anamorphics lately theres at least one facebook page for anamorphics however i find that people on there tend to think the anamorphic lens their selling is gold plated, so i wouldn't recommend facebook. for a good sale Of course its all relevant to your budget and what your willing to pay not to mention if you want buy something to shoot tomorrow or are prepared to build something over a longer term .

    elmoscope type 1

i didn't hear back. not sure whether my email got lost or what, i was kinda impatient after a couple of weeks, i ended up getting a local machinist to turn something up. However it would have been cheaper buying redstan. from what i remember the back thread size is metric 49 mm Some what related... bizarrely i seem to find double focusing easier on the canon 60d than the p4k. i have no logical explanation for why that is either. I do have ml installed on the canon but the 60d doesn't really get me the resolutions or clip length i would like. I'm undecided on getting a fvd or a better model canon to run ml and raw on i do have an active thread called bmp4k adventures there maybe more info or pictures on the anamorphic set up there

i actually meant to throw my question open to the whole forum, it was kinda late when i wrote that, i didn't mean to direct that at you specifically, sorry about that ? I also am looking at a new computer, my desktop died several months ago. For now i get by with dell i5 laptop, it runs resolve ok.... albeit slowly perhaps, i could probably throw some more ram at it one day. but i keep buying camera bits and pieces. ?
  6. the forum topic was about the eight. i presume the black being the pinnacle of the gopro line. most would aim for that straight from the gopro website are the prices for the eight series accessories. these are the aussie prices of course. i did have a typo mistake in my earlier post, i misquoted us prices when ii meant aussie prices. If you can get those mods for $39 thats wonderful, and it really does prove just how much aussies are getting gouged at the retail level

you must have a grip like ironman ? i have been considering getting a cheap dumb adapter for each m42. that would make for quicker lens changes on the p4k. digressing slightly, i'm half way through building a table and backboard for shooting some of my own lens tests. What are your thought on xrite colour checkers. I assume their the bees knees, but their close to three times the price of other competitors. I'm finding it a bit hard to justify that amount of cash.
  8. nice entry. very smooth, both the music and the video, black and white works well in this context i think.

i can't say i have had that experience at all. But i think i probably unconsciously give it an extra strong twist at the end, just to be sure
  10. more research reveals it is indeed a camera lens. Mine does come with a focusing helicoid, i need a short m42 to mft adapter, maybe a short extension tube to get me to infinity and some 2 part epoxy perhaps
  11. actually i tried two enlarger lenses, one projection lens, and the russian lens that arrived today . I'm not really surprised i have read that the once you go lower than 70mm or so with enlarger lenses its harder to get infinity focus and you need shorter and shorter mounts. The el nikor 63mm enlarger lens is notoriously difficult to get infinity focus without a custom mount. I didn't think this russian lens was an enlarger lens i figured it would mount up to m42 and i'd be away but its m39 which is a popular size for enlarger lenses and i dont read or speak russian so theres a good chance that maybe it is an enlarger lens ?. I'm not too perturbed i have a bunch of adapters of different thicknesses, two helicoids yet to arrive.
  12. my lens has arrived, preliminary tests give no joy. If i free lens i can get focus, it appears my m42 to mft adapter is too long. Looks like i am waiting for the helicoid to arrive
  13. may as well give it a go, nothing ventured nothing gained
  14. if this was the formula one thread, btm would get a dnf, Did not finish ! continuing the f1 theme, scrutineers should examine all footage for irregularities ?

you don't have a 20mm tak for sale ? that would just about round out my collection i think ? the 15 and 17mm are just a bit pricey for me. i kept everything m42 for simplicity.
  16. go out to the local industrial area on the weekend plenty of action going on there usually ? seen quite a bit of gear on gumtree lately and i keep thinking where was this gear when the video challenge was on ? Maybe we'll do a video challenge 2.0 at some point
  17. i hope it lasts longer than 16 seconds ? i wanna be able to put my feet up and savior the experience

after the soviet challenge we may as well progress straight to the takumar challenge ?
  19. over here we call those back rows the cheap seats ? i liked the sunrise or sunset nice colour was there any sound ? didn't hear anything and i dont think there's a rule about that either, disappointing kye, very disappointing ?
  20. i reckon, there's a video challenge in this thread just waiting to happen ?
  21. so what did the kombi max out at, hitting conrod straight ? ?
  22. awesome, looks like i can do two entries then. now i need a plan b
  23. whats the crop factor your working with ? the bmp4k is 2x which will be kinda handy as distance = safety, you'll understand better after you see the video ? i'm about 85% certain of an idea i want to pursue. i just bought a m42 helicoid to play with. i have a russian enlarger lens and a polish enlarger lens i want to play with. If the russian lens doesn't turn up in time i'll use the russian enlarger lens. Polands like a stones throw from russia right ? any chance of including it in the challenge kye ? ?
  24. i watched bathurst on tv on sunday. ( its like formula 1, but australian and better ?) i was actually a bit disappointed with the amount of moire or aliasing visible, didn't seem to matter what the shot was either. anyone else notice or am i being overly picky ? I do know its a live event and some materials are prone to it however i reckon i noticed alot more this year. Maybe you guys are starting to rub off on me ?
  25. i presume the advertising sells it as easy peasy. You go out, blasting along with whatever activity your doing, capturing all that awesomeness on the gopro bring it home to watch it in 4k or hd perhaps, the reality is somewhat different, there is perhaps a lot more involved than people anticipated in producing awesomeness. I would venture to say that even at a gopro level one will need to apply a few filmmaker techniques to make it watchable for more than five minutes for anyone other than family. Not to mention the persistence and practice required to learn your camera as well. I'm not surprised people give up after a few tries.
