  1. does this count as spam ? ? which part is russian ??
  2. i nearly bought the mir 37mm but i think i went looking for something cheaper and i might have also been hoping the lomo triplet might get some bubble bokeh happening lots of experimenting yet to do with it. The helios is popular for the swirly bokeh however i'm not much of a fan of swirly so i passed on the helios. The industar i looked at too i think. You got some nice results from the industar might have too add one at some time
  3. for what its worth, The LOMO TRIPLET T-43 4/40 LOMOGRAPHY LTM L39 LENS *MINT* I think i paid about Aus $60 delivered. all in all not a bad investment i think. Since i upgraded the p4k to 6.6 this morning i'll have to shoot something this afternoon. I really lucked out with the m39 to m4/3 mount that was a mount i accidentally bought some months ago.
  4. been a bit ill lately, helped my brother the other day which ended up being a bad idea, spent the next day sleeping. I did get up early and shoot some footage of the cat with the russian lens. The 2x crop on the p4k is getting annoying. teasing the cat with the camera set up across the room isn't as much fun as you would think. Not sure i'll buy another lens if i cant get it easily mounted to ef so i can use a speedbooster.

    Spamming

sometime ago mr reid did ask us to report spam via the report post link. All you can do is report it and downvote the offender. there's no benefit getting worked up over it. Hopefully at some point rather soon we get some house keeping done. I find It helps to get into the habit of checking who created the post before you dive in. If i'm bored i'll post something flippant in return.

updated davinci resolve to 16.1.1 the other day and the p4k camera to 6.6 today. No issues with either updates. The camera update stalls at 70% for two and a half minutes but i knew this from the p4k thread. While its at 70% i get a couple of notifications that the p4k drivers or whatever are being installed, which is a bit disconcerting as you get the usb bell sound informing you that something is either inserted or removed and i'm thinking the update is about to fall over however it doesn't. Had a bit of a lung infection lately, might have overdone it on friday spent 16 hours in the car driving around helping the brother and his boss out. i also had a plan to video some of their expensive Arabian horses on sunset, due to a couple of showers of rain that didnt happen, we had pizza and watched the latest aladdin instead. Got home around midnight spent the next 18 hours sleeping i think. Ironically the bosses wife breeds and train Arabians and then sells them back to Arabia, go figure ? I always though my laptop was 8 gig, after reading the p4k update change file, i checked and found i only had 4 gig, looks like the next spend will be on computer ram.
  7. kaylee is there something your not telling us ??
  8. interesting, and the price is definitely sympathetic to my wallet. Who's getting one ? lets do a group buy ? If i got one of these it would probably replace my Olympus body cap lens which is fixed at f8 which would certainly open up a few more options.
  9. congrats you must be the definition of perseverance, Wikipedia should give you a page ?
  10. Yer, Im thinking my cat is fair game

broke out the dremel yesterday and today did my final hacks to both of the housings i use to enable the use of the battery eliminator cable. Had to grind away about 2mm on the left inside of the frame, for the alloy frame The plastic housing had more room to work with, however i had to grind a bevel on the top and bottom of the replacement rear housing as with the camera inside, the back housing was catching on the rear top of the camera. I still have to fill the voids with silicone or something, still considering that. I think i can make the plastic housing splash proof or rain proof i think but i doubt that it will be water proof, but thats ok for my purposes i think. Pretty happy with the mods i have made, i do think it will open up a few options to explore. I did get outside just on sunset with the letus anamorphic and the faking it frame i have made, yet to look at the footage. Guess we'll see if it has any potential shortly
  12. Honestly i been meaning to ask the question about brick walls, been giving it a little thought. I feel your a little too condescending towards the unambiguous brick wall. I'm not sure they deserve being slighted by you. Personally i like em, their strong, upright in character, come in a range of colours, they usually built square and level, they don't move around much, which is handy when you want to go back for another lens test shot. They do give you a cheap way to test for three specific aberrations in a lens: rectilinear distortion, edge sharpness, and vignetting. They may not give you the mtf of a lens or how many lines of resolution a lens will resolve. I do think there's room in everyone's digital darkroom for brick wall test chart.? edit : there is veydra mini cimema primes on ebay at the moment whether any of them are good prices i dont know
  13. looks like i will have one lens at least. I'm also downloading the 6.6 update for the bmp4k so i hope to give the anamorphic options a go as well.
  14. thanks for clarifying that for me. the 35mm would indeed be too much for me i think. I will have to remember its the 16mm to keep an eye out. If you do decide to disperse your gear, a heads up here would be appreciated. i would probably be interested and a few others no doubt. Bit sad to hear that your finishing up the anamorphic side of things, as you did some good work with the b&h anamorphic lenses
  15. not sure if your being flippant or not. However i can say i have done something similar with mounting the tokina 28-70 to bmp4k via a viltrox speedbooster.Basically i have a nikon to ef mount which connects to the ef to mft speedbooster onto the bmp4k. something weird seems to happen, like its being really compressed. Range of focus is much reduced. It seems to go from full focus to minimum focus in only a few degrees of movement there is still plenty of turn left on the lens. It was late in the day when i had a brief play with it. Without the speed booster the lens works as expected. i am presuming that the tokina may not be compatible with the speed booster, i have to do some more testing to be sure first.
  16. hey @Bold there is a bell and howel for sale on ebay is this anything like the one you have ? kinda curious as it seems like a reasonable price. the front glass doesn't look too bad but the back element is very ordinary. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bell-And-Howell-B-H-Anamorphic-Cinemascope-Projection-Lens-35mm-Film-Movie-335B/254197152793?hash=item3b2f54bc19:g:qBMAAOSweX5b7hTN
  17. nice idea mounting it to the side. i presume there are no ports on that side ?

    bmp4k adventures

been in a bit of a hacking or modifying stage lately. bought a 28-32mm step up ring and some double sided tape cut out a inner and outer diameter that matched the ring and mounted it to the 15mm olympus body cap lens i have, i also bought a 32-37mm step up ring as that seems to be the most common filter sizes to get hold of. I wanted a small adapter on the face of the camera so i could easily move the lens cover lever. When it rains again i want to be able to hang some nd of it and video some waterfalls in the area or uv perhaps. the double sided tape seems quite robust it shouldn't move anytime soon. the first helicoid for the russian lens i bought has arrived. turns out that i had a short adapter that fitted the m39 to mft mount and solved my issues. however the enlarger lenses i have tried on the helicoid don't focus to infinity. It was kind of expected as i have read online that there is issues with getting anything shorter than 70mm to focus at infinity. Apparently custom short mounts are required. the last pic is of the el nikor 63mm enlarger lens mounted on a 60d, i can focus out to about 3-4 meters. But i want more so the quest will continue.

    elmoscope type 1

er... i was wrong, Its actually 50mm metric, Any lens clamp with a bigger than 50mm hole would fit. Sorry about that was just looking at the elmoscope and thought i should recheck that as 49mm is a standard size.
  20. Success... was watching tv going through a box of different adapters that i had stashed away, not sure if i have infinity focus yet, will try that tomorrow.
  21. sun tzu, art of war huh ? not sure i want to play chess against you ?
  22. i like it, nice job kye for some odd reason it doesn't play for me had to go to youtube to watch it. but i wont take any points away for that btw, next time you do a sausage sizzle i want in ?
  23. the 4 was ok for me, mind you i wasn't shooting marathons or anything. I did notice with the 6 there was a flare or sunspot with the original lens cover on the front which annoyed me. It is with some irony that i say i have bought a battery eliminator for the 4 i own and the eight has now been released. Maybe i'll see some issues running the gopro for extended amounts of time. i will continue to use the four and six till something breaks i guess.

    Lenses

that was really interesting, surprised me how dark the set looked but sure turned out ok however i now want pizza for dinner.
  25. lol. i guess thats a good deal if you can get it. I presume gopro are still making money maybe not as much, but still making money plus their probably counting on you buying accessories to bolster their margins and if you getting one of their cameras its one less sale for a competitor. apparently the trade up offer is for the us and eu, i just had a look on the website. I probably didn't need another one anyway. I do have a nikon 950 that the serial cable that no longer works with, its not the cable as the digi-lapse controller cable doesn't work anymore either. it still takes nice inferred photos however even if they are 2.1 mp let us know how well it works out for you, should probably keep an eye out on these things ?
