  1. Thanks
Lux Shots got a reaction from PannySVHS in Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...
The manual says the 120fps is only MP4, not MOV, so it's only 8- bit unfortunately. 😬 I really enjoy my 10-bit 1080p 120fps on the S1H (I wonder if I made a mistake ordering the S5), and it's a shame that it isn't on the S5 on the release date. I don't know if this will be enabled come the end-of-the-year firmware update for 5.9K ProRes RAW...

@bjohn My Lumix S1 and also my small GX85 allow customization of buttons masterfully. So should the S5 do that perfectly.

No wonder they didn't want the EOS R5 to go the extra mile.
They had this to flog us.
    Who's got a spare $6K?

I ordered mine today, and they already charged my card, so I expect it to arrive this week. I don't have any video shoots planned, but I do have a wedding photo shoot on Oct. 3, so this will probably be a great time to put this on my adapted Canon 80-200 f/2.8 along with my S1H and 24-105 f/4. I may set up a cheap model session just to put these duo to a good video test!

Same for me it has arrived today. Tomorrow i'll make some tests to see what this little beast can output but so far first impressions are extremely good. Seems as well built as my S1H.
Very comfortable in hand and so happy about the weight and size. I'ts going to be my daily camera, as well as my b-cam for shoots.
I have a shooting on Wednesday (a small narrative web ad for an app) that I planned to shoot on one camera but I'm tempted to throw the S5 on set to take some additional coverage... Just to see how well it matches with its big brother.

Interesting that BM fanboys got triggered after I post this on the Panasonic S1 group, something to do with guy not setting up BM camera correctly or something.

Looks like the result of a Panasonic GX85 and a Sony A7III having a date and forgetting to use condoms.

Talking seriously - as in the A6xxx line, no front dial AGAIN, Sony?

This is a surprisingly meaningful video. Makes me think about life.
My girlfriend and I used to shoot videos just for fun. Very silly stuffs, really. We knew nothing about videography so the videos are just bad. This changed after we do video professionally. We don't shoot those silly videos anymore. We only shoot paid jobs and testings. It's like we have forgotten making videos are not always about work. Making videos are not fun anymore most of the time.
Maybe that can help with my depression. Who knows?

    100% agree!
It honestly seems like panasonic will update the s1 to outclass the s5. In all interviews and hints it seems likely itll get RAW externally and possibly even dci 4K internally
We will find out soon, but im optimistic

Haha holy crap dude, can't believe that you are still gonna do this. Thank you very much for the sacrifice bro. I also do wonder what the 4000, 6400 and 12800 looks like in vlog, so if you can maybe shoot some footage at those iso levels as well that would be amazing. Thank you so much!

Interesting to know only Panasonic prores raw give u full control, Nikon's one is the worst, all other only allow ISO but no WB control, and WB is the one that is the most important!

I already have the 24-70 f2.8 and waiting for the primes that will be released by november. And I also have a 5 lenses kit of Samyang cinema lenses that I use on paid projects on my S1H.
But what interest me in the 16-35 f4 is that its aperture is constant and it's kind of small, matching the small size of the S5. Also for me, f4 (and sometimes f5.6) is the sweet spot for shooting video in Full Frame in manual focus, it has that FF look with a little bit of blur in the background without being too hard to pull focus.
So perfectly fine for me. i'd rather compromise a bit on the size than on the constant aperture compared to the 20-60.

Don't confuse sharpening with actual detail.
When it comes to low contrast texture, the S5/S1/S1H easily outperform others while having the same amount of high contrast detail but basically no sharpening.

    Not the reason at all.
Both Nikon and Sony do heavy processing on their footage. Strong NR creating all kinds of artifacts and strong sharpening with halos around corners.

If you want a proper Sony camera which doesn't look like video, the FX9 and above are your only choices. While Panasonic starting with the S5/S1 and above looks really organic.

You absolutely missed my point. But it's ok, I still understood what your point is and respect it.
Just watch Gerald's S5 review video after 23:00 and you will understand why I feel punked as an S1 owner. He says at the end "(S5) has basically rendered the S1 obsolote because the S1's advantages aren't worth $700" and that is exactly how I feel.
At least they gave S1 owners a firmware upgrade with the improved AF but this doesn't change how I feel.
It even has quite a few extras borrowed from S1H which S1's don't possess.

    https://www.l-rumors.com/last-minute-leaked-s5-info-future-update-will-come-to-support-anamorphic-shooting/
"– An update will come later this year for the S5 to give support to 5,9K 29,97p/4K DCI/3,5K Anamorphic via Atomos Ninja V recorder
    – 2 new picture profiles: L Monochrome S and L Classic Neo
    – V-Log and V-Gamut are included, no additional fees
    – Panasonic will announce 7 (!) “affordable” lenses: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm et 85mm ( available in November < 1000€) with F1.8 aperture, a 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 zoom and a bright wide angle lens"

I personnally think this is insane for the price point to be able to record 6K out of the Ninja V ! Perfect B-Cam to the S1H!
The primes are all I've been expected for. Let's go Panasonic !!

PS : what's left for Panasonic S1 buyers? An firmware update for sure !
