I dont use autofocus so I forgot about that one.
I mean, i use my sony a6300 along side my S1 as a gimbal cam and its negligible once graded.
The xt4 being 10bit pretty much means that it can look like any camera with enough adjustments.
We're definitely in a time were most cameras can get the job done and nobody will ever notice what camera you used.

A used Panasonic s1 is like $1500. Great camera with vlog.
Internal 6k open gate full frame 10bit, 4k 60 10bit, Prores Raw over hdmi. Anamorphic modes, amazing IBIS, great internal battery life (3 hours per battery) Full Varicam V-Log and Cine Color science.
For what it goes for on the used market its probably the best bang for buck camera you can get currently.

Just bought a used S1 with V-Log and Firmware 2.0 already installed. And I gotta say... I am really looking forward to trying this monster out when it arrives!

The Panny S1 is ‘probably’ the best value bit of kit available right now, just pipping the Fuji XT3, but unless size & weight is more important, S1 for the win.
However, if size & weight is a factor, Pannyboy S5 over the XT3.
That’s where my money would be going, Panasonic or Fuji.

I actually did not realize the S5 had a smaller battery.. my bad! 😅
The S5 wont last 3 hours, my S1 lasts 3 hours, but I imagine 2 hours on the s5 is still pretty good coming from sony.

It's in-between the 1/1.2" and 1" on this chart, so practically 1" as near as makes no difference. Bit like Canon APS-C is still APS-C even when it is a 1.6x crop vs 1.5x crop.
How long before Micro Four Thirds sensor in a smartphone? 🙂

I am surprised that S1/H,5 footage on youtube does not do the camera justice. The colour out of this cam is awesome. Unfortunately I have not shot much with it since last summer. S1 is best bang for the buck by far in my opinion.

Would have loved a 10bit 422 update for 50/60p for the S series. Too bad its just 420. But still, awesome update.

I've been debating whether acquiring a Ninja V to experiment with what VLOG/ProRes RAW might offer over the internal VLOG options for HDR.
I was a bit disappointed in finding out through my inquiries this past week that the only option to record ProRes RAW is with the Ninja V...is this all this much in it's infancy that there exists no other market choices?!
I was also disappointed after watching last week's LUMIX YT presentation to learn that Panasonic still had nothing to say regarding piping the RAW data packets over the internal PCIe bus to the internal CFExpress cards and will instead continue to only make that data dump available through the HDMI pipeline to external recorders. There was a fair amount of talk inferring thermal capacity of the S1 body as a limitation but what still does not add up to me is that they state (on one hand) that the heat is generated by the internal processing done before sending data to their cards for their internal codecs, but did not satisfactorily (to my viewing and listening) reconcile (as they stated on the other hand) that packet-izing the RAW data requires no internal image processing (so less heat), only sensor data transport? So, simply put, packetizing the RAW data generates less internal heat than that caused by the internal image processing that is sent to the internal cards.
Sooo, if internal codec recording times are dictated by...
    1. Sensor image processing heat + writing to card heat = 15 minutes, why is it if...
    2. 0 sensor image processing heat only RAW packetizing + HDMI piping = unlimited record time, and...
    3. Sensor image processing heat + HDMI piping = unlimited record time, that...
    4. 0 sensor image processing heat only RAW packetizing + writing to card heat ≠ at least 15 minutes?
By what the Panasonic reps stated, scenario 4 should generate less internal heat than scenario 1, so why not allow the RAW data packets (with time limits, if that needs to be so) that fit the S1's thermal design...i.e. 15-minutes, or whatever it works out to (they have the thermal numbers)?
My point, all along (and I will not tire from this), I'd prefer to be focused on shooting the bird and frog, etc. activities (that actually require my attention!) while I'm out in the field rather than fiddling around with a recorder and settings and connections and snag points and added weight whilst missing vital irreproducible action, I can fiddle with the RAW data to my heart's content in FCPX when I get home.
And I'm sure I am not alone in wishing to be able to record RAW internally (just like all the other codecs) without the fuss and muss of extraneous gear. 🙂

Theres no definitive proof that the S series uses sony sensors, but lets say they do, because that's obviously very possible.
I think they still look good and different than my sony cams not just because of how its processes, but the fact that theres no phase detect autofocus on the sensor.
Looking at side by side comparisons of current sensors, the contrast detect autofocus on the lumix cams gives the footage a much more pleasing look.
If you crop in on a sony, you get like halos on edges from the sensors auto focus system. This gives sony cams a subtle feeling of digital sharpness.
Although cams like the red komodo share similar auto focus tech, it somehow doesn't have this problem. Or maybe it does? Idk I've never used it.
But as a mirrorless camera the s series cams imo avoid this issue by having contrast detect autofocus.
Of course this is just my point of view, but I think someone could plop and arri beside the S1h,S1,S5 and grade them to match and nobody would notice which cam is which..
Although, the motion cadence of the Arri will likely stand out as better. But again, I really dont know for sure.

The S5 + 28-70 Sigma has really seemed like an awesome option especially if there is a firmware update planned for RAW.

Wasnt the sensor in the s1 and s1h made by TowerJazz?
That name has been thrown around here a lot when the cams came out. Although it is a bit curious that the cams of that generation all have pretty much the same specs, i.e. Sony a73 / Nikon z6 / S1(h).

Thank you. Ok when you compare Arri Alexa Classic( with some vintage lens ) with S1 and a 24-70 Tamron( that ads a lot of Contras ) i think as consumer we are in a good position for what we pay 😜
