What is 50fps supposed to look like? It's slower then reality.  You have a You Tube channel and that's the best way you can describe videoish?  Amazing.
You saying any footage looks videoish is a put down that is left for people to thing a camera is sub par.  Your comments prove this.
The grade put on the camera can push the color and tonal values in any direction but you commented on that. The clarity is not over done at all and not "sharpened" or unnatural.
You're nothing but biased and your word is not real.  I want to trust You Tube influencers but your response to the P4K is amateurish at best.
And I just watched S1 with the new update look like iHone garbage compared to the P6K footage I posted.
Nothing I said about the P6K footage had to do with the color grade and everything to do with cadence and how it handled motions, background and captured data information.  You guys need to read my comment before you use the word videoish.  Next time you pick out GH5, S1 and P4K footage make sure you watch out for the motion stutter because it seems like you all have a blind eye when it comes to admitting that those 3 camera have issues in that department.

Motion in film is like silk because its capturing real like. Real life doesn't have stutter and jitters.
You need to revisit film versus the low end motion and cadence. And then revisit the P6K footage.
Motion in film is like silk because its capturing real like. Real life doesn't have stutter and jitters.

By being the only one Ive watched.. thought that went without saying.
Great, then you should buy it.
The motion, the clarity, the colors and the tones/curves.
    So does mine.
    Looks video to me.
Exactly, very smartphoneish. Not a fan.
    Please note:
I have NEVER said that the P6K shoots footage that looks videoish and can't produce cinematic footage. All Im saying is that after reading your post about "proof" that the P6K is "more cinematic than the P4K" I was very disappointed after pressing play on that video.
But like I said there are most likely much better examples of cinematic footage out there.

Thats the first video Ive ever seen from the P6K and I must say... it looked extremely videoish. Surely there are some really cinematic footage out there that would better illustrate the point you where trying to make.

Here is my cheap DIY viewfinder eye cushion. I sewed together two elasticated hair bungees. The first one clasps the EVF surround, and the second one comes in a little over the viewfinder and makes a more comfortable cushion than the firm rubber eyecup. These things come in many different colours, though I chose photographic black to suit the camera. They also come in different sizes/thicknesses. You may be able to see from the scale of the Panny G7 what size these are (they fit quite tightly on the viewfinder surround, which is the main thing). Also using these lower profile hair bungees means I can swing the articulated screen past and it doesn't come off. You could choose a more bulbous bungee which would make an even more comfortable cushion, but if you are opening and closing the screen a lot it would be inconvenient.

To be honest, I did not see the P6K coming. I received mine yesterday and haven't even had time to open the box yet. I am curious about using it along side the P4Ks with and without boosters.
But after seeing the P6K, you *know* there is a P8K coming just as soon as BM can get a sensor (full frame?) that has the appropriate specs and makes the ~3500 price point. They already have the EF mount and there should be enough room in the body for the larger sensor. I bet the P8K is out inside 15 months at $3495. What do you guys think?
Also, I got a huge kick out of the fact that Blackmagic had it in stock the DAY it was released at the major dealers. I got mine from B&H. That will teach us to talk smack about Blackmagic's legendary lack of timeliness (or not.... )

What will have stunned them is that BM were able to deliver the camera the day after the announcement while RED are only in the position to show off teaser pictures of theirs.
I don't know how long RED intend to let this routine of putting out teasers go on for but if it continues much longer we'll have to start calling it the Komodo Drag On.

Okay the P4K should have better lowlight than the P6K despite being a smaller sensor. like you said the GH5&GH5S have almost the same sensor size but one is much better. Where are you getting this information anyway?
  8. Thanks
JordanWright reacted to drm in Blackmagic to announce new camera related news at 12 noon PDT (8pm London)
Frequently, a larger sensor is better in low light, but much of the gain is a result of the larger sensor usually having larger photosites (e.g. A7SII, GH5s). Better lowlight performance is one of the reasons why many of the smart phones are going to larger and larger sensors, but the megapixel count isn't drastically increasing anymore.
In the case of the P4K vs. the P6K, the sensor on the P6K is a little larger (23.1mm x 12.99mm VS. 18.96mm x 10mm), but they also increased pixel count on the P6K. In this case, the photosites on the P6K end up being smaller (~19%) than on the P4K. Based on just this aspect, I would expect the P4K to perform slightly better than the P6K. I know from the charts released by BM that the P6K has slightly more dynamic range below ISO 1250 (P6K: 13.3 vs. P4K: 13.1), but above ISO 1250, the P4K has slightly better dynamic range (P6K: 12.1 vs. P4K: 12.3).
I imagine that in a blind comparison, you couldn't tell them apart.
I am a little surprised that the P6K drops from 13.3 stops of dynamic range down to 12.1 @ ISO 1250. I suppose that I will have to be a little bit more careful to keep the ISO in the 100-1000 range on the P6K.
@JordanWright Having both the GH5 & the GH5s, the GH5s is at least a couple of stops better than the GH5. With the GH5, I try to max out at 1600 on video. The GH5s looks about the same around 10,000. The GH5 is 20.3 Megapixels (17.3mm x 13mm) vs. the GH5s is 10.28 Megapixels (17.3mm x 13mm) so the GH5s has much larger photosites. I think that the sensor in the GH5s is also a newer model from Sony with some technical improvements.
I am sure that you already know this, but for everyone else's benefit, we call the pixel size the: Pixel Pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance from the center of one pixel to the center of the next measured in micrometers (µm). It can be calculated with the following formula:

Pixel pitch =  sensor width in mm / sensor resolution width in pixels × 1000
The GH5s has a pixel pitch of 4.68 micrometers.
    The P4K is ~4.6 micrometers & the P6K is ~3.76 micrometers.

The larger the pixel pitch, generally the better the low light performance.

The GH5s has better lowlight because it is a lower MP sensor than the GH5 and it has dual iso.
But to be fair, if all things were equal, including lens speed, the larger sensor would probably be better in lowlight.

This is incorrect. A larger sensor doesn't mean better low light.
There is no such thing as the full frame look.

No, A larger sensor doesn't give you better low light performance... but I don't think its worth arguing with you.
And untrue: I don't think P6K is a step down. If I didn't already have a camera, it might be the one I would choose

    @Skip77 "Sucks for P4K owners"
Why exactly? This is a complementary camera for the P4K, not a replacement. In many ways, the P4K is *better* than the P6K.
Here are just a few of the ways the P4K is better than the P6K:
The P6K files are more than *double* the size of the P4K files. The P6K is 323 MB/s vs. the P4K at 135 MB/s (at highest recording rates) Many people have trouble with their computers and workflow editing 4K footage. 6K footage is going to crush their dreams The P6K can not record 4K or DCI 4K footage in BRAW, only ProRes. The P4K + Speed booster gives you an extra stop of light and a field of view wider than Super35. The P6K field of view (crop) is less than Super35, despite Blackmagic calling it a "Super35" sensor. The P6K has a diagonal crop of 1.63 vs. 1.39 for Super35 relative to a 36mm x 24mm "full frame" sensor. Based on sensor width, the P6K is 23.10mm vs. 24.89mm for Super35, so the crop based on width is P6K: 1.56 vs. Super35: 1.45. So, based on width, the P6K is close to Super35 size. The P4K + 0.71x Speed booster has a width based crop factor of 1.35, wider than Super35. I will be researching this next week, but I suspect that the P4K + Speed booster will do better in low light than the P6K. Cost: The P4K costs $1295, the P6K costs $2495. The P4K has a better lens selection because most lenses can be adapted to the Micro 4/3 mount used by the P4K, including the EF lenses used on the P6K. I have a P6K that will arrive tomorrow. I have no intention of replacing all of my P4Ks with P6Ks, even though I could easily do so. They will work together and make an excellent team as they should cut perfectly together with each other.

You are not right. The majority of Hollywood produced TV shows and films are shot on an Alexa Mini... which shoots 2.7K.
Netflix Originals account for a very small percentage of Hollywood Productions and BTW... almost everybody on this site knows about Netflix’s requirements for their original productions because there are about a half a dozen threads about it over the past couple of years. But thanks for playing.
Good Lord... how old are you? By your name, I would think you were born in 1977 but by your responses, it’s like talking to a teenager.
I’m sure you’ll reply by cherry picking one of my sentences and distorting it but please don’t bother wasting your time... this is boring.

Sorry, no most films are not shot in 4K. The Alexa is the most used camera in Hollywood and it is basically 3K with the intent to deliver in 2K. Netflix only requires 4K for their original content.
As to why not... read my above post. But everyone’s different so if you need/want 4K... that’s great, you have a lot of great options in the marketplace.

    Very interesting. My thoughts.
    1. Boy am I glad I sold my second BMPCC4K before this was announced.
    2. I don't care one bit about 6K.
    3. But I care a lot about the bigger sensor and EF mount. Getting a good combo of lenses and/or adapters on the BMPCC4K that didn't vingette and didn't have massive barrel distortion was a PITA. I'm already kitted for EF. The Tamron 17-50/2.8 VC will probably live on it.

I know I'm dreaming on some of these but I'm hoping for:
    - Anamorphic mode for the Pocket
    - New VA monitors that can control the BM Cameras
    - A small EVF designed for the Pocket
    - BRAW announced for the older BM Cameras
They'll probably announce shipping date for the Battery Grip also

I like the funkiness of it. Looking at the close focus sample, it seemed that the Helios had more color tonality while looking at the color of the Statesman. The Leica was a very close second in that regard.
I agree, the Zeiss was a good middle ground lens. If you don’t need an extreme wide angle, the Planar and the 35-70mm zoom would make for a nice two lens set.
I’ve come to the same conclusion, Nikon lenses offer too much value to IQ ratio to be ignored. I am learning that I’m much more of a one lens shooter, so a “set” for me is as simple as a 24mm and a 50mm... or a just a fast 35mm. Right now I have too many mint copies of Nikon lenses to ignore collecting a decent set and it will cost less than a lot of single lenses I’ve owned.
If I was a more decisive person, the Samyang 50mm 1.4 would be a no-brainer lens to keep. It has an interesting mixture of character and sharpness, like a modern vintage lens, that a lot of other lenses lack but it’s also a little boring as well.
Due to my lack of 50mm primes, but love of the focal length on FF, I just bought a S-M-C Takumar 50mm 1.4 I want to test against some of my other 50mm lenses... so I may have an upcoming test as well to share.
