Oh that that where the only bug in that project.
    Have a look at Duet.
I use mine with the Mountie clip system that attaches it to the side of the laptop screen but any old stand will do.
They have recently fixed the issues they had with Mojave.

As I say, they've recently updated it in the past few weeks to fix issues they had with Mojave so a lot of it will be related to those previous problems.
I have not switched to Mojave so can't comment but I'm on High Sierra 10.13.5 and it works fine for me with the latest version installed.
It even gives me a Touch Bar emulation at a cheaper price than upgrading my MBP
With regard to price, it is a one off price for the regular version ($20-ish) and a subscription add on for the pro version which lets you use the iPad as a digitiser.
I use it in a few different ways, depending on what I'm up to.
In FCP-X I have the iPad Pro handling the interface and the MBP full screen as the picture monitor.
For work, I will be editing pictures on the MBP and use the iPad Pro to view and control the FTP application so I can keep an eye on the transmission of the pictures to the agency without having to swap applications. As Duet works with any iOS device (and the one off payment covers you to use it on all the devices linked to your Apple account) then I tend to use an iPhone more than an iPad for that as it saves space and is an appropriate screen size for a smaller application.
There are other similar products out there though so have a look around.

Yep, a monitor is a must for many reasons. This camera can be used as it is, but most times it will need additional accessories. I will always suggest a SmallHD Focus, smallest and brightest solution.
If you do not care about brightness, one of the cheap 5.5" copy cats will do.

I just got the Aputure LensRegain for my Pocket 4K. Will report back when I've done some testing. I already have the Metabones XL and Viltrox and I love them. I got the LensRegain for a lightweight remote focus solution for my shoulder rig. Initial testing has been very good.

    I believe they do subconsciously.
They might not be able to articulate it though, as they don't have our trained filmmaker's eye.

    a) diminishing returns apply
    b) how do you define "10X better"??

Let's make up some random simple numbers as a basic example:

A company sells $40,000,000 of a product each year with a 25% profit margin on that.
They predict if they spend $10K on an advert and $400K on the advertising spend for that advert that then they'll see a 10% lift in sales in the coming year.
Should they do this? Of course they should! It will lead to millions of dollars in extra profit.

Now what if they predict they'll get a 20% lift in sales with the $100K advert? (with the same $400K advertising spend. Although... often this budget would be larger too, to go along with the pricier video budget itself. But hey, I'm not pulling this example from any real life figures, and I'm just keeping the figures simple)
You might say "But David, they're only seeing a 2X improvement for a 10X increase in production cost!!"
However I'd suggest you stop and re-think this, you don't need have the video be anywhere near "10X better" for it to be worthwhile to spend 10X more on the video shoot.

Rather instead if the client believes these figures (of a 2X improvement on their sales volume increase vs the $10K video) then this is an obvious no brainier decision they should make to spend $100K on the video.

MurtlandPhoto reacted to Andrew Reid in Vimeo's new policy is..... Failure!
Yeah, I have fond memories, but if the portfolio I've spent 10 years on isn't guaranteed safe, it leaves me little choice but to do something about it! I mean, an online video channel is so key to what we do... Always has been... If it were to disappear randomly one night in the blink of an eye because Vimeo's CEO doesn't have her eye on the ball, it'll be a disaster for me and for EOSHD, the blog.
Whatever I think of Vimeo in 2018 and what it has changed to become, it all comes down to that really.
I'd rather stay and enjoy the community there... Maybe from a safer distance, from now on.
I also really like that YouTube makes an effort to explain their DMCA stuff in a more friendly way and in plenty of detail. The first I knew of Vimeo's policy was a big warning message flashing up saying my account was an inch away from obliteration

I am upset there is no pop up flash. For a camera that has stills capability this is a bad decision for a camera at this price point and will put off many buyers. They have not included an EVF to make it more familiar to people who transition from a mobile phone but why then do they not make it go in a pocket like a mobile phone but then lie to everyone and say it's a pocket camera? It's easy for them to give away software as it doesn't cost anything to make and doesn't add any weight to the camera but why do I need software to use this camera when other cameras work fine without it? Also there is no lens with the camera so that is an extra item you will have to buy and I don't see this mentioned in any of the videos. If BM don't make lenses then they shouldn't be selling cameras to people as this is like selling a car to someone without wheels. It seems BM do not care about customers who haven't got a clue.

    I agree.
Lots of people are saying "this 4K RAW isn't that much better than our best H264 cameras, how disappointing" when I think they should be saying "wow, our H264 cameras weren't completely put to shame by this 4K RAW camera, how things have changed since the BMPCC, and aren't we spoiled for choice now!".
    I totally agree.
I watched the 2012 Zacuto camera challenge recently (doing it blind as they suggested) and ended up putting the cameras in three tiers, which I found out afterwards were basically sorting them by price!  The only exception to that was the F65 which I placed in the middle tier instead of the top tier because I didn't like the grade.
I think there are two ways to properly execute a camera comparison - set the cameras to their flattest profile and show the files untouched out of the camera having only done a WB, or use a colour checker and have the NLE grade it for you using the full checker so it can linearise the luminance and adjust primaries and all that stuff.  Otherwise, like you say, we're evaluating their grade and not the camera.
Has anyone compared the P4K to the BMPCC by downscaling the P4K to 1080 and then comparing?  Sharpness and resolution have a lot to do with things being cinematic...

Well guys, as someone who has it, (and works professionally with cameras) I can tell you I love it! That’s it, it’s a beautiful piece of technology and even though I haven’t had time to shoot something bigger than a few ProRes clips in the evenings before bed I totally adore the images it produce. I’m very excited for my 8sinn cage and T5 holder to arrive next week as I have 2 days off to really get to know the camera!

I haven't watched any BMPCC4K footage yet. No videos, no test, no reviews, no nothing. All ive seen is the thumbnails in this thread. Never pressed play.
Because I was afraid it would spark an unbelievable case of G.A.S. And I was so proud of myself for canceling my preorder (was among the first in line).
Then I decided to download the tif-file above. Playing with it in Lightroom was ok. Feels like a decent image. Until you realize its a video frame... wow!
The quality is pretty darn crazy. The noise is.. not there. Mind officially blown.

    Hey Guys !
Here it is ! I just picked it up at Photocineshop in Paris  I was the first in queue, I called them monday, they told me they expected it mid october. But I received a call today telling me it's here so... They received only 3 cameras. They ordered 75 and have 60 in queue. Funny story, the guy at the counter told me the boss was mad at him because the boss wanted to keep the first ones for rent (it's also a big rental company) and not fulfilling the first orders ! I think I have the first retail version in France ( I know it's a lame sentence !)
I'll try to shoot something decent tomorrow and put it online the same day ! But I only have relatively fast SD cards. I just need to sell a kidney for a CFAST on which I'll be able to record 12 seconds of RAW footage :)))
I can't wait to test the dynamic range and the battery life of the camera, my two biggest concerns.

So, IBC has started and BMD said they have an announcement regarding the P4K. Does anyone know when they have a conference or some stage time to make the announcement? Where could we watch it?
They say they're on track for Sept release, so I'm expecting them to  press the dispatch button during IBC. What are your thoughts?

Andrew, the comments about grading weren’t intended for you specifically.  Read the post.  I was talking in generalities about recent facebook groups I’d left and a similar entitled tone here. It was not a personal attack but you chose to take it that way.
Cmon, I shoot these shots for BMD for exactly this purpose. To be downloaded and graded.  If I was truly precious about it I wouldn’t do it again and again would I ?
You’re throwing a tantrum, publicly, because you dind’t get an invite to a BMD event that is seems like few even knew about.
Somehow you think that’s got something to do with me so you went and wrote a post about me. A really lovely piece too.
I’ve said it already a thousand times.
    I don’t work for them.
I don’t have that much to do with them day to day.  Last contact I had with anyone at BMD was weeks ago.
It’s not my job to make sure YOU get some attention from them.  That’s on you to make that case.
And by the way, this kind of childish unprofessional behaviour is exactly the kind of reason any company would think twice about working with you.
Instead, you launch a highly personal assasination blog post as well as numerous personal attacks because I dared to try and explain that to you in a way that you thought wasn’t deferential enough ?
You don’t do this for free.  You sell something.  I don’t but you actually do.
Having traffic come to this site means you have a greater chance of selling something.
You sell LUT’s and you sell guides and you use the traffic here to do so. So don’t pretend all this free traffic is somehow a favour to BMD and free publicity.
I didn’t even see the post you made about the BMD footage till your personal attack on me,  but I noticed when I read your BMD post you’re mixing in a bunch of references to LUT’s you’re trying to flog.
    How about this...
Delete every single post of mine.  All the IP that I’ve posted and shared on this forum? All those posts where I’ve shared my knowledge and experience.
Go ahead and put your money where your mouth is.

    What a shame.
Who are these "deep state" BMD insiders that are here pushing an agenda ? Myself and Hook.  Who else ?  What do you guys think, there's a plot and conspiracy ?  You guys don't wat these contributions I guess ?
I'm here because I've been a member here for years and I'm on many camera forums and this is just another one I like to read and contribute to where I can.
I want to know where all the clowns that were saying on this thread that the world was going to end because BMD didn't have any footage out yet and that definitely meant something was very wrong and the shipping date would be missed.
All I've seen so far is that a planned marketing campaign by BMD that has gone off the way they intended.
They commissioned some actual filmmakers (not bloggers or camera reviewers) that make certain types of film (natural history, action sports, nature) to make some films and then they released them and the camera originals.
Then they gave some cameras, complete with some boxes as if they were new to some secondary users, and whilst having them also under NDA, got them to shoot some test footage and allowed some of them to release that footage.  Again.  Not reviewers.  Not bloggers.
About a thousand reviewers and camera jockeys have done a bunch of made up comparisons and VLOGS based on existing footage. (hey I love seeing my footage being butchered by grading nerds)
    Think about it.
No blogger or reviewer ANYWHERE has gotten a functioning camera to shoot with as far as I can tell.  Because that's not what BMD want to do with their marketing of this camera.  This isjust marketing 101.
They need people using the cameras in the many difference specific sectors of the market will use the camera.  Camera reviews aren't part of that plan. (though it hasn't stopped people doing it based on existing footage)
Until it's shipping, it's their choice to give it to whomever they want.
I'm tired of this entitled bullshit.
I recently left a few facebook groups I was on for this camera, and I'm doing the same here.  Frankly it's juvenile and I don't need the agro I sure hate explaining what should be obvious.
    There's no slight.
BMD have a marketing department and they have a plan and it doesn't involve forums, bloggers or camera reviewers.  That's not a snub, that's just them marketing the product in the way that they see fit.
    JB
