BTM_Pix got a reaction from kaylee in Canon predicting a 50% decline in sales units in the next 2 years
A second term for Trump is more likely to increase sales of the other type of Cannon...
Its interesting though that if Canon really do think the end is nigh for 'real' cameras whether they might actually take the opportunity to make some hay while the sun is still shining and drop the slow drip shenanigans, unleash what everyone knows their cameras are capable of and make sure that they get a bigger share of what's left.
It could happen, couldn't it ?
    Canon ?
    What do you say Canon?

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Grimor in Sennheiser XSW-D (Wireless lav set)
I'm going to have a proper look at these at the BVE show in a few weeks.
On the basis that Sennheiser won't have invented their own battery, I think it is highly, highly likely that it uses one of the two battery types that I put on the previous page.
Looking at some higher res images, I can see the join in the case where it can be opened so, erm, well, you know, maybe I will be able to be to give a more definitive answer to a battery swap....

BTM_Pix got a reaction from kye in What makes a video CINEMATIC?
On a full switch off, I'd probably be inclined to agree but not on a power saving suspension.
Ditto if wasn't an internal zoom design lens so there was a chance of obstruction when it was resuming position.
With a fully fly by wire power zoom lens like this, I just don't get why it has to do it.
I'd increase the timeout setting if the camera wasn't such a battery drain/potential fire hazard
Anyway, its annoying and non-cinematic so I'm going off to write a stern email to my MP about it.

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Kisaha in What makes a video CINEMATIC?
With an integral zoom lens there is a fixed defined range so its easier to implement than on an ILC but considering this is a Sony lens on a Sony camera and they know everything else about it you'd think it would be within the bounds of possibility for them to store and resume the value wouldn't you but no.
Maybe they think it wouldn't be cinematic or something.

Based on the 3.7V/850mAh spec on the new product's web page it is very likely to be one of these two options.
They are less than £15 for a set of 4 with a charger so an enterprising user could even modify their unit fairly easily to make the battery field swappable for extended use and backup.

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Thpriest in Would You Perhaps Be Interested In A Different GX80/85 Colour Profile???
Its a live command so doesn't actually change anything in the camera firmware (hence why you need to save it into C1, C2 etc to get it to persist when you switch the camera off) so I'm curious about this.
Are you saying it only records the 9 minute clips when it is using Cinelike D or is it with all profiles?
Is it the same length in both HD and 4K or is it that the file sizes are the same size in both and does it vary with compression setting?
To restore it, you can either load a normal profile from the C memory or just use the html file here.

BTM_Pix got a reaction from Thpriest in Would You Perhaps Be Interested In A Different GX80/85 Colour Profile???
Use the html file from the post above and select 'Deploy Standard'
That will restore the standard colour profile.
How big are file sizes on the card for these 9 minute pieces ?
Did you format the card in the camera or on a computer ?
    EDIT>>>>
    Hang on.
I suspect the difference is related to the card.
SDXC memory cards will do the continuous recording.
SDHC memory cards will break it into 4gig sections.
I'm going to take a wild guess that those 9 minute files are 4gig each on the card?

You want to be able to wirelessly view the live video feed from the Pocket 4K while controlling it like you can with all those other cameras?
There is no app that can let you do that with a Blackmagic Cam....

BTM_Pix got a reaction from tweak in Nikon Z6 / Z7 to go RAW with Atomos Ninja V - could Panasonic be next?
Well it looks like Atomos and RED have settled the differences that I mentioned a few weeks ago with a royalty deal.
It still doesn't specifically mention what IP of RED's that Atomos had been violating but it does seem widely accepted to have been to do with compressed RAW.
Whether this means that prices of the Ninja V etc will increase or that Atomos absorbs the royalty figure from their profit remains to be seen.
No word yet on whether RED have insisted on any alignment re-branding so that it would now have to become the Atomos DELTA FORCE OBLITERATOR MOTHERFUCKA to denote it using some of RED's technology.

BTM_Pix reacted to Andrew Reid in Olympus E-M1X - is it worth $3000?
I had a nice used bargain from them this week, when I picked up a Fuji X100F for £700.
The description said it had heavy marks on the screen.
When it arrived, I just rubbed the screen with my thumb and the marks vanished
Let's keep it this way. If word gets out that their testing team should use an occasional spit and polish, the bargains won't look quite so compelling!
They are aiming at 1D X II and D5 users with the pricing. "Buy Olympus... we're cheaper and lighter"
I'll be very surprised if the tactic works.
And for the enthusiasts, they are not going to pony up $3k for something with worse specs than a G9

Fair play to them for defending their patents and it does make me curious about where BRAW sits in relation to this.
Glad to see it settled though as it would have been a major bummer for people motivated buying into the Nikon Z system by the ProRes RAW option to have it then taken away.
You never know, it might have been the prospect of this lawsuit that had been holding other manufacturers from getting involved with co-developments with Atomos and ProRes RAW and we will see a few more stepping forward now its settled.
