The Canon C100 was a fantastic camera. Great images and ergonomics. It's main problem for me was it's size. It was hard to pack away quickly with a lens attached.

I’m not chasing specs here. The FX2 isn’t even a hype-driven release; in fact, it’s been met with a lot of skepticism online. What genuinely interests me is how it fits into the Sony pipeline I’m already working in. The tiltable EVF is actually what I’m most excited about, ergonomics and UI refinements make a big difference when you shoot solo. For me it’s less about spec sheets, more about practical workflow and how the camera feels in real-world use. In the end pricing and ecosystem is what’s going to guide you, and not every camera fits every workflow, and that’s okay.. but dismissing others’ needs as just gear-chasing isn’t very helpful.

3 balls to 4, to 5, to 6, to 7, to 8, to 9, to tea cups and saucers, to live chainsaws. Which are on fire.

Cropping in post. That’s what I see and like about 8k.
8k for the sake of 8k though, not interested.
Same for me with stills and high megapixel cameras. Some say they don’t need 50-100mp and I don’t either, not for the sake of having more, but I do like it because it allows me more reach from smaller or less lenses. I can carry a single 28-105 and ditch the 24-70 + 70-200 combo.

That price is with the new 24-60 which is not bad?
Non of the other camera you mentioned do OG 60p so for OG users that is quite the moot point. But for general users who don't care about OG they certainly have more choices.
Anyway with Panasonic there is always the fire sale after few months to a year, so for S1II I gonna wait for a year to see how much discount I can get.
In the mean time I m rocking with S9 and S5II. Got them both cheap after the discount and free lens to boot (free 85mm 1.8 for NZ one)

I don't see the S9 discounts in Spain but the new S1ii packs are out:
    3.850,52 € for the S1ii and the 24-60 2.8. That looks a reasonable offer.

It was the GX80. Had it from the beginning but sold it when I moved to FF. Bought it again, still loved it but sold it again because I can't justify 2 systems.
The GX80 and Voigtlander 17.5 0.95 was a great combo.

Funnily enough, a former client from 2014 contacted me today to say that she had 'lost' her wedding video and did I still have it?
After I stopped laughing, I thought hang on, it is probably still on Vimeo. And it was.
I thought it would look so dated and be an utter cringe-fest, but actually it wasn't and I was a bit surprised.
It was shot on the GH3.

I'm not really seeing any difference between any of them; S5, S1H, S5ii.
Yes there are some very subtle differences such as that from the S1H is a teeny weeny bit softer due to the OLPF, but otherwise, nothing for me.
    There's some chatter about over-sharpening. I don't see it.
There's some chatter about moire. I'm not seeing that either.
Highlight roll off and blah di blah, - what are we shooting here with these things? Are we really comparing the results from our humble mirrorless cameras with Hollywood lighting, productions, lenses and budgets? I'm not, - to be even remotely in the ball park is hilariously ridiculous.
Here's a screen grab from my S9 which is my principal run & gun unit, from last weekends wedding I am currently editing.
A pretty dark hole of a room for bride prep and unless anywhere near that window, then screwed. It's SOOC and not touched it in any way; exposure, WB...nuffink. 6k 30p shot at 1/50th, 4000 iso, 5000 WB, Freewell ND 2-5, exposure otherwise eyeballed on the rear LCD with the wave form I rarely look at.

I think the price is the only real problem. If they were both 400-500€ cheaper they’d probably sell a lot. Maybe this tariff stuff has altered the prices and Lumix was simply unlucky as the are the first to have to consider this with a big new launch.
I also agree that a 800-1000€ GX80 update with unlimited 4k 50p and maybe open gate would sell like hotcakes.

By the same token, we are probably entitled to say "we might have been a couple of years ago and if it was cheaper".
I've said it before but the S5ii continues to be Panasonic's problem child in that it raised expectation for the 2nd generation of cameras and at a price that was pretty surprising.
That camera got the upgraders from Panasonic's MFT cameras (myself included) and this new one is asking the question "2x the price, 2x the camera?" for both the holdouts of to the MFT system and those who already moved up to the S5ii and are looking to go up again.
I think it probably is 2x the camera for some people but I can't see anyone who isn't in the L mount prison (and that is what L mount is) walking into a shop and paying 50% more for it over the Z6iii let alone paying the 10% more than a lightly used Z8.
Hard reality is that they are not Nikon, Canon or even Sony and they're going to struggle with flagship cameras.
Annoyingly for them, they can create the cameras that will attract a premium price technology wise and produce a fine image as they've been doing it for years with Leica branded versions but, again, when it comes to the other type of image they aren't Leica.
They have the opportunity to do a FujiFilm and offer an alternative but they've left them to it to pursue two companies that absolutely out heritage them and another company that  they are at the mercy of when it comes to sensors.
This will all end with someone at corporate HQ dispassionately looking at the Lumix division and striking a red pen through it.
Exactly like what happened to Samsung.
Cameras that I think they could look at doing to offer some difference would be :
New GX80 with the bulk of the GH7 inside or at the very least the GH5 and then not charge a stupid amount of money for it  as it should be possible for sub £1000.
A Super35 bridge camera with a 7x or even 5x zoom, no compromise video internals, ND and then not charge a stupid amount of money for it  as it should be possible for sub £2000.  Essentially a grown up version of the FZ2000.
I'd buy either of those and I don't think I'd be alone.
Currently, Lumix are like the smart, quirky indie girl that you fell in love with and now ten years later she's got hair extensions, fake tits, a trout pout and two ton of fillers because she wants to be a Kardashian.

While I agree with most of the criticisms of Panasonic's marketing, as far as pricing goes I feel they may be getting treated a bit harshly. The S1 launched at $2500 in 2019; with inflation that's about $3150 in today's money. So not really much of a price increase, although of course overall wages have not kept up with inflation, rates on video jobs are always being squeezed, etc.
Then there's the US tariff fiasco to take into account, that has to be affecting the pricing somewhat. I bet in a year's time when the counterpart models from the other brands are out that their pricing will be similar because they're dealing with the same fees and uncertainty. Not entirely fair to compare the pricing of one of the first cameras to come out post-tariff-ridiculousness with that of models from before.
The S1ii is in at least one way very similar to its predecessor, which was also using a newish Sony sensor that had debuted the year before (IMX410 in the A7iii), but did an arguably better job with it than Sony did.

I don't see why an FX3 would even enter the conversation with a S1ii- one is a hybrid, the other not. No one would seriously take photos professionally with an FX3; they would with the S1ii.

$3500 is a lot to ask for this camera. I really don't see a ton of reasons to go with it over the S5ii/X. I don't think it's a bad release, but that's not a very competitive price point.
Still, I'd like to hear from folks who've used it once it hits real users hands.

Hopefully because price is key (although I'm not sure if they raised the price in the EU etc as well). If we are talking 300€ cheaper than the original quotes, so 2500€ and 3200€, then it becomes quite interesting.

Agreed. I don't know the overall health of the Lumix line. Maybe it's even as bad as people are saying. There have been some big whiffs for sure, like the LX100, the G100, and the G95, but I feel like a big part of people's criticism is that Lumix is "late to the party" on certain things and when they finally do release a camera that matches the competition, it's "too late" even though they enter a market at an extremely competitive price. I get that it is an adjustment, given that Lumix for so long lead the way when it came to progressing what mirrorless cameras are capable of, so it can be a disappointment in that regard, but I think overall we've hit a wall when it comes to advances. No one is really progressing much, outside of higher resolution. But Lumix is adding little quality of life improvements that the larger companies still haven't added, but they don't really get credit for them.
I don't think it's unfair to say that 7 years is a long time to release a successor, but at the same time, would people be giving them the same grief if they were releasing a new model every two years for what is essentially a big firmware update like Sony does? Should they do that instead of supporting their cameras for years with new features via free firmware updates like they have? Would they have been better off if they flooded the market with so many different models? There needs to be some middle ground, and it'd be nice if Lumix found it.

I agree with this, but also think it was inevitable. I don't know that they are regressing backwards creatively, as much as they hit the same wall most everyone else has. I do think the design criticism is the most valid, but I also think that too was inevitable. It makes sense that they'd try to unify the camera body designs like Sony has, as I'm sure it's much more profitable for them, especially as they try to enter the market at a more competitive price point. I've never had a problem with the S5ii X's body; I don't necessarily love it it, but I'm pretty indifferent. Where it matters most to me I find it to be pretty good; the buttons are where I'd naturally want them, and I have quick access to pretty much every setting I'd want to have quick access to. It really boils down to personal preference, so if you don't like it then I can see why it'd bother you that they are using it for most of their cameras now. That was a big reason why I didn't like Sony cameras, so I understand it.

I see so much negativity towards Lumix right now, but the S5ii X is my favorite camera I've ever used despite my criticisms of it, I was very impressed with the S1Rii when I used it for a day, and I think the S9 is a very compelling option especially if Lumix creates smaller lenses like they've said.
I've even seen more YouTubers switching to Lumix cameras; while that isn't important to me, it's a sign that they are making some headway.
I'm not saying people's criticisms aren't valid. If they aren't the right tool for you then they aren't the right tool, but people are writing off cameras based on specs instead of actually using them.
Maybe these S1 successors will suck. It's very possible. But as of now, no one who has actually used them has said anything, nor have they made their way into the paying public's hands who can give an unbiased review.
