good advice.. i agree an assistant is a blessing, i hate doing these gigs solo.. weddings are gruesome. most important is to be quick on your feet. bodies aren't really that important, i've shot with all kinds (D750, A7S2, 5D3, C100..) but your lens selection, gimbal/monopod setup, audio etc.. is as if not more critical even then body choice..

Yeah it looks like the XT2 could do with a nice kaizen update for video..
I think what's impressed me the most aside from the tack sharp 4k image was how good the XT2 nails white balance. The camera store i tested it at has the worse artificial lighting, i don't think a single camera i've tested there has had good results regarding that... except for this XT2.. purest whites SOOC!
speaking of which found this video illustrating just that:
"The room is very low lit and with greenish/yellowish lights. Using the Custom White Balance in the X-T2 nailed the Color Temp. perfectly."
I shoot mainly indoors with often harsh ceiling lights so this camera could be a saviour. very close to pulling trigger now.

Just dropping some more insight after doing more tests..
Don't use the Highlights/Shadows adjustments when shooting faces. It evens out the skin, giving that "waxy" effect.
Classic Chrome with +4 color is my favourite profile. Provia can be a bit too orange on skin. ProNeg Standard is good too if you want something slightly flatter.
4k jello is real. Close to the Samsung NX1 and Sony A7S. Use with caution. Thankfully the 1080p is sharp; much sharper than my D5500.
AF-C is very usable if you get to know it.
In JPEG stills, the Grain option on Strong actually lifts up the blacks a little bit, giving that VSCO effect, which I quite like.
The 23mm f2 WR is a weird lens. Out of focus areas have a rendering like some vintage lenses I have used. It's nice but not what I expected from a somewhat expensive modern lens. The f1.4 has a more modern rendering but the mechanics act more like an old lens. The below were taken with the f2 WR.

Really want to go out and shoot properly but just don't have the time at the moment.

finally had a chance to play with this camera and i'm absolutely stunned by the 4K quality.. definitely the best i've seen out of APS-C.. the film simulations are really great too, just a little extra grading and you're good to go. a shame no internal Log though (any idea if Fuji is planning on getting it internal in a future update?). Very very impressed overall though and seriously considering this for my 4K needs and travel cam.

Django got a reaction from jcs in Canon 1D X Mark II review part 1 - why superior colour means it's game over for my Sony A7S II
I'm a fan of Canon skintones and especially it's auto WB which i find superior to the competition. I actually switched over from Nikon for this.
Andrew makes some valid points most of which I agree.. however to be fair to Sony, the comparison is an odd one since.. he compares Standard Sony profile to his custom Vivid profile.. which is rather intense! If one wanted to make a valid comparison about Canon colors vs Sony.. one really should have compared BOTH standard profiles (like TCS did in their Jpeg shootout). An interesting comparison would have also been Sony S-Log vs EOSHD C-Log.
For what it's worth I do own and sometimes use Andrews film looks (for stills never video) but they do totally alter the infamous Canon color science.. so again odd conclusion, although I get the point for him personally it's just a more favorable custom look then what Sony may offer SOOC..
Anyways no doubt 1DX2 is a beast of camera (and it should be at that price!) but I still find the A7SII is still damn desirable for it's class-leading low light abilities, FF zero crop 4K, IBIS, EVF, Slog..etc

Just tried it on 60D & get 11/12 seconds in 10bit DR!
If you've got a 5D3, this is what you can get:
    "So i tried 3K 2,35:1 23,975fps- 14 bits - 134 frames
                                                   -12 bit - 294 frames
-10 bit - over 3 minutes recording, didnt check longer
    1920x648 (16:9 after stretch) 60 fps     -14 bit 308 frames
                                                                - 10bit 1425 frames
1920x648 50fps seems to be continous in 10 bit.

    1920x1080 37fps - 14bit - 239 frames
                                 - 10bit - over minute, didnt check longer.

    highest possible resolution 3584x1320 23,976 10bit - 160 frames (vs 61 with 14bits)."

Reading the actual DPreview interview.. I feel OP may have focused on the negative. The last bit being:
'I think that line between movie photographer and stills photographers has gone. The client wants to you to shoot the both of them at the same time to reduce the costs.'
Kitaoka then expanded on the demands they're hearing from customers: 'First of all, quality of the movie is a basic demand so we have to answer that, second frame rate, then lens quality and autofocus, also, [the challenges of] movie AF and still AF totally different.'
'Movie autofocus needs to be smooth, sometimes fast, sometimes slower, depends on the situation. Movie shooters want to [be able to] choose high speed autofocus or natural speed autofocus.'
'Actually we equip the autofocus system fit for the movie but a lot of people [are finding it difficult to use] autofocus between still photo and movie. But we keep trying to [provide the] best movie autofocus in [our] DSLRs and across every single category.’

Sounds to me like next generation bodies will have much improved video AF enhancement, +60 FPS, 4K possibly 10-bit / 422 / better codec (IQ seems to come first).. I see this as Nikon is listening and will provide very interesting video solutions on their upcoming DSLRs..

Great article.. and amazing film project. People gotta understand the film budget is peanuts compared to the rest of the mission.. A couple lost cameras/lenses is no big deal whatsoever in the grand scheme of things..
Also what an advertising for Canon lol... their cameras were chosen  to go outer space because of:
    A. simpler menu systems then Sony/Phantom
    B. less bulky then Arri
    C. their gear is NASA certified
    D. test audience chose Canon colors over RED !

right i've seen you link that a couple times here.. it was Andrew though that initially got me to seriously consider the D750 with this blog entry:
    http://www.eoshd.com/2014/09/nikon-d750-review-initial-thoughts-real-world-footage-ladies-gentleman-contender/
I've since shot a few docus, including one that was screened at Le Louvre and got me a standing ovation by some pretty prominent art critics..
I switched to Canon a couple months ago and although the C100 is nothing but joy, 5D3 pre ML RAW was a giant step back for me from D750.
And even with ML RAW.. I must admit I do really miss the D750. Something about that sensor & the colour science.
Everybody always raves about Canon.. but Nikon perhaps fits my aesthetic even better..
I am going to need to upgrade to 4K body/system in 2017. As of right now, only Sony fits the bill.. but here is to hoping for a 4K D760.
All that's missing aside 4k is dual pixel type phase AF, peaking and indeed maybe a super flat Nikon Log profile to kill 5D4/A7S/R2.
I feel like we may get at least half that extra.. Nikon may claim to not want to alienate their still photogs, but in reality they are paying close attention to the competition (especially Canon) and I believe will try and trump them feature wise, which includes video.
Finally lets' not forget they did put out the Filmmaker kit in partnership with Atomos, so they definitely got videographers on their radar - at least with the D7xx line:
