frontfocus got a reaction from JurijTurnsek in Panasonic S1R Pixel Shift beats Fuji GFX 100
To be honest, thinking about it it shows how excellent the GF lenses are. The panasonic not only is a 188MP image, it's a a 188MP RGB image with every pixel having all the information for red, green and blue. That the Fuji is as close as it is, is a statement to it's quality.
If the rumors are true and the GFX gets multi shot as well, I can't imagine what the quality will be like. Dpreview probably has to reprint it's target at a higher resolution ?

If its manual F mount lenses then the best play is F to Leica M adapter, TechArt Pro M to E and then the TechArt E to Z as that way those manual focus F mount lenses magically become auto focus ones.

I think the GFX100 sensor isn't really designed to handle video as it's highest priority (if it was, it probably wouldn't be 100MP), but stills. And still it seems it's a great option for those looking to go beyond full frame and try something special. That the GFX100 does 10bit internal at bitrates of up to 400Mbit puts it up there with some of the best full frame cameras, while reading over 50MP. That's some crazy stuff. 50MP at 30 frames a second, that's 1500MP read and processed every second (adc drop precision to do it and that decreases processing power needed, it's still immense though.)

Oh man, Fuji is doing 4K video from a 100MP sensor. Canon is doing a cropped readout from a 30MP sensor. There are no excuses for high rolling shutter on the EOS R.
Also, the video above @DBounce is an utterly useless waste of 10 minutes with the camera and proves nothing. I can't find the rolling shutter test in it, maybe you can suggest the timestamp to save us having to watch the hole 10 minutes of badly shot focus pulsing.

The hasselblad is great looking and well made. it‘s small while not light making it dense. This makes it feels well made, just like a Leica M.
Are all other cameras toys? Maybe. But then again, there are multiple orders of magnitute of pro photographers using those toy sony, fuji, canon, nikon ... cameras, then there are hasselblad x1d users.
and tbh, many would choose features and handling over that feeling.
when it comes to image quality I would argue, that capture one is superior to phocus, thus the fujis are at least on par.
Being polemical as well I‘d say the toy camera is the one, that rich dentists and lawers buy as a status symbol

Matthew Libatique is the director and the DOP of this short. I’m not sure is a great director but a great DOP, yes.
    Serious team for grading .
Fuji says about this short : « A Different Beyond” was lensed with FUJIFILM/FUJINON MKX cinema zoom lenses, FUJINON Premiere PL Cabrio zooms, and Zeiss Super Speed PL-mount primes in order to show the feasibility of using varied professional optics with the new FUJIFILM X-Trans 4 sensor. Most of the movie was recorded into the Fujifilm Log (“F-Log”) Rec2020 color space, both to internal SD cards and Atomos Ninja Inferno devices, and then professionally color graded. However, several of the scenes were recorded using FUJIFILM Film Simulations directly (ETERNA, Velvia and CLASSIC CHROME) to show their suitability for projects that don’t have time or budget for color grading. «
You can dislike the grad but I think it is a serious work.

    I'd agree with that.
A7 III ripped a hole in the full frame market pricing and we see a race to the bottom, but Fuji is doing something far more interesting with insane value for money APS-C cameras that simulate the look of film.
The 18-55mm OIS works incredibly well, it's as good at run & gun (great AF, par focal) as it is at cinema.

I shot hours and hours of footage to create EOSHD Pro Color.
Sony's latest cameras still need it.
    Fuji is superior.
This YouTube clickbait, is not even a proper test.
It's some unknown, unstated default settings, completely unoptimised.
With maybe 1 or two button presses, the entire result would change.
Max has a well known Sony bias, and I simply don't trust what he's showing here is representative. If the Fuji is too green for your liking, and you are sure Max hasn't fiddled the results like he fiddled the poster frame, you know what to do about it. There's a hue control, a white balance control, a saturation control and 8 different film simulations.

They both look terrible - more indicative of the users failure to expose, WB and grade + poor profile choice than the inherent 'colour science' of Sony vs Fuji

Oh yes, thought so... he's edited it to be more extreme.

So this machine is kind of a tactic admission by Apple they lost the prosumer desktop market to Windows PCs and have given up ever trying to get it back.
So they are aiming at pro businesses and studios, not individuals.
If you are an individual who can afford to drop over $11k in one go on a base spec Apple computer + 6K screen, and perhaps more like $18,000 if you want the better specced versions, you are very lucky indeed and in an absolutely vanishingly tiny minority!!
It beats me why they did not also announce a $2k upgradable modular desktop for the rest of us??? Or does it... PCs, that's why.
But I want Mac OS and I am pretty upset at having to stick with comparatively slow iMacs and MacBooks for so many years. The 2013 Mac Pro is a bit of a bad joke in performance terms in 2019 by the way, so that's not an option either.

Detail holding up very well from such a high resolution pixel binning sensor.
The 5 axis IBIS has a lot of jitter and doesn't seem to be working to stop rotational jitter, but then it is shot by a talentless idiot.
A well worn Tony thing is whenever he doesn't get invited with his fellow diva children of the camera press to a nice jaunt / holiday, he goes off on one of his rants making sure he name checks the company who smited the chosen one.
The biggest names Fuji chose for the trip were Johnnie B and Gordon L, those well known celebrities of the camera kingdom.... Who will sit on the throne at the end? It's a fight to the death and there is only room for one ego in the YouTube camera review community.

I'm not giving a pass to Fuji, just saying what I see. It could be the lens for sure. It's definitely not as sharp as the studio image.

Here's a screen grab of the images in Resolve, the left screen is the XT3 file and the right is from the Ninja. I set them both to 300 and lined them up to form basically one image with a line in the middle. I thought that would be the easiest way to see if there's any difference in the colour. - both are set to Full in Clip Attributes. To my eyes, they're exactly the same, but if there is a difference, I wouldn't even think about it while shooting.
One thing I did notice though, is the capture from the Atomos is 2 or 3 frames behind the file straight from the camera, nothing major, and I'm sure it's not camera / recorder specific, but worth noting.

    Edit:
If people want, I could also post screen grabs from the colour page, showing the histogram, vector scope, curves etc. But they don't change at all between the clips. Safe to say they're exactly the same image from that perspective too...

i know. But what technology does DJI bring into this relationship? They don't have IBIS, no experience with phase detection. They may contribute to save a few bucks with their processors or a few parts.
But all in all I think Hasselblads main interest was to get a name they can print onto their drones and sell at a premium. I don't see much, they can add to the way Hasselblad work at the moment.
I may be wrong and we see a X1D II made in China soon?

In my opinion, and use, the 28mm is too much for most of the things I do. It is not wide enough.
My workhorse lenses for APS-C start from 16mm (24mm in 35 equiv, 16-50 are good for workhorse.) and m43 from 12mm (again, 24mm in 35 equiv. The Pana 12-60 and Olympus 12-100 are great).
I have used a lot of times 18mm lenses (18-110 and the cheap 18-105mm Sony, 18-35mm and 18-135 EF-S for Canon) and most of the times I was missing those few 4mm at the wide end.
I agree with you, the recently priced reduced A7iii is really tempting - it is the best A camera ever made - but are still lacking on a few important things for pro use.

All the tech is protected by IP... if Fuji and Nikon can implement it on their Sony based sensors, so can Panasonic. The S1 is almost twice the cost as the X-T3.
And as was already pointed out, bundling an audio codec firmware with a picture profile makes no sense. It should be free with the $400 DMW-XLR1 audio adapter.
