Justin Bacle reacted to Bold in Seeking Info About the B&H Projection Lens
I'm not sure where you're interpreting this from.
It can't be done in a weekend for 130€. Not even close
It's not unreasonable to ask 1000 CAD for:
Single-focus Rack-focus Infinity focus Minimum focus under 1m 2x bokeh Fantastic flares Excellent 15mm rail support / alignment Compact and lightweight Considering the great condition of Tito’s B&H glass, I think he should be asking $1000 USD. It is a turnkey solution.
Tito, did you adjust the front by (un)screwing slightly? I was able to get much better results after that calibration. It took a little trial-and-error, but if you have the camera connected to a monitor, you can fine-tune it fairly quickly.

Justin Bacle got a reaction from BrorSvensson in Canon 50D ML Raw in late 2015??
I got my 50D for Raw shooting with anamorphics. And I am very pleased with it. Yes there are problems (CF card related ...) but pictures you get out of it are lovely (thanks raw !)
The only concern I have, is that high ISO is rubbish (compared to what I've seen on the web). There is some horizontal banding and noise pattern is horrible.
How do you get good low light shots with the 50D ?

By "another" you mean me? (since I posted mine yesterday).

Justin Bacle reacted to IshootbeforeItalk in Variable diopter or Set of diopters ?
I just can't get used to stacking glass: I want a speedbooster, taking lens, scope, single focus, ND filter and a diopter. Something is off here...

Justin Bacle reacted to mercer in GH5 10-bit 4:2:2 internal?
Not that I mind, just saying. I actually don't get the big deal about minuscule crop factors. An extra .14x crop factor just means you have to take .14 steps back... Problem solved.

Justin Bacle reacted to mercer in Canon 5d Mark IV press release and specs!
There's a difference between implementing and creating it. I don't believe a person can steal an idea from someone who didn't create it. That's what I was referring to in that comment.
Now I'm not trying to take anything away from ML. Canon should have hired those guys to run their DSLRCine division. Well they should have created a DSLRCine division first and then hired them.
What the ML guys did was revolutionary and it is simply astonishing that the 5dmkii with ML Raw is still a relevant image 8 years after the camera was released.

Canon steal the idea from ML,it composed different iso frame to form the HDR video, that explain why this feature must works with ISO above 400

Justin Bacle reacted to TSV in Canon 5d Mark IV press release and specs!
What really baffled me here with the 5DMKIV, 1DX MKII and MJPEG, is that the XC10 (Like it or hate it) is a 2000 USD Camera with an inferior Image processor (Digic 5) but comes with a more "modern" codec : XF-AVC 4.2.2 Codec 8Bit internal and 10 external and Canon Log.
If they could have done that on a Digic5 IP, why can't they do that on a new Digic6+ IP??!?!?

Because the XC10 has a small detail called cooler fan......

Justin Bacle got a reaction from PannySVHS in Speedbooster / Focal Reducer with Shortest Flange Distance- One for Many Lensmounts
Py speedbooosters (MItakon & RJ) are both in MD mount. Which allows me to mount both MD & M42 lenses. As for the Canon EF mount. I think you need to get another speedbooster.
Minolta MD and Canon EF mounts have flange distances way to close (43.5 mm & 44 mm respectively) to be adaptable from one to another.
I do not have any experience with canon FD mount though, sorry.

Justin Bacle got a reaction from tweak in Some shots with the ridicously impractical LOMO 35-NAP2-3M
I finally got my wrenches and was able to unscrew the anamorphic part !
A also got a clamp from RafCamera, which looks to do the job so far (I'll try to replace the tiny screws with ones I can unscrew w/o a tool)
I just finished shooting a short, so I'll try and shoot with the new adapter asap. So far, it looks sharper, but it vignettes very differently than my NAP35.

Look for used Pelican cases. They get beat up anyway and are pretty rugged.

Hi - this one's great (and cabin useable)
http://www.pelican-case.com/1560.html
I wouldn't scrimp on price - I've bought the cheaper versions and they're not much good to be honest.
The Seahorse branded ones are o.k. and about 50% cheaper than Peli.

Justin Bacle reacted to PannySVHS in AF100 still viable? Anyone still shooting with it?
Hey Renaissance Man,
Thanks for mentioning that. This infomation lead me to some inspiring BTS footage.
This is the high quality stuff this awesome forum is about! Greatly appreciated. Also enjoyed @Justin Bacle´s post about
the Lomo anamorphic lens and his footage in the anamorphic section.
I think it is awesome, once a certain level of IQ is reached (GH2,3,4 G6/7, AF100 levels)
it comes to ergonomy and the pure joy of shooting and lighting and creating stuff it is causing.
By the way, you and me have been typing about profiles for G6 and your GH3. Would like to see some of your stuff you
shot with it in Natural profile, if that is possible. I posted a link of my G6 test footage back then.
cheers

Justin Bacle got a reaction from PannySVHS in AF100 still viable? Anyone still shooting with it?
Hey, Bought my AF100 a few mounts ago.
Just finished rigging it. And just got a used Atomos Samurai (not the blade version).
The AF100 is a tricky camera. It is easy to use, but you have to master the settings to get the best image out of it. I cannon recommend enough the AF100 book.
The package I got was AF100 + Panasonic 7-14/4 + Panasonic 14-140/4-5.6 + 2 batteries and a dead cheap SD Card (which is now stuck in the SD slot) for 1300€
The best thing about this camera is that it is ready to shoot run & gun. No need for external power, recorders or rig for handheld stuff.

Justin Bacle reacted to altopuig in Unknown Anamorphic Lens
Hi! I just bought an anamorphic lens and I dont know anything about it. I just know that is a 1.33x and Made in Japan is written in red on the lens.
It also seems a focus through lens (no focus ring at all).
Im attaching some pictures:
Anybody knows something about it?
